Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
We are but dust and shadow.vexing_ode for Twilightpromise and your tryout thread ♡
There were so few among their numbers who could be called adults, there were almost none with what one would consider a good amount of life experience. Of the adults of the clan two were his relatives, one his own daughter, and the third was a prisoner. To be adding another proper name among the ranks was reason enough for Puzzlemaker to venture from the depths of the estate and personally greet them. Leaving the shadows of the lonesome third floor felt odd but was a welcome change; the delicate balance between being a figure of change but still being unattainable was a delicate balance.
He found Twilightpromise as he expected to, out in the courtyard, shadowed by the broken columns and facing out towards the water that laid below them. The cliff face the estate had made it's home on falling into the pines and rocky shore. It was a place that inspired awe, that stood as a stark reminder to them that nature was a force worthy of respect; that one should regard with caution. It was where all new Hunters stood their vigils and recited their prayers. The dark had truly reclaimed it's place from the light and the night was properly upon them. She should be finished appeasing Selene in moments and then he could sweep her to his side.
The questions he needed to ask would be better served coming in a place of privacy, where there would be no pressure upon her to feel the need to put up a farce. He did not need lies, he had enough those in his own shadow; Moonclan could only handle so many.
Twilightpromise sat with her tail tucked over her paws, watching as the waves crashed into the cliff. "Selene guide my paws, bless my choices, and show me the path of your making. Selene bless me with your knowledge and wisdom, so that I may be a beacon of your light, and a missionary of your making." She mewed in a hushed whisper raising her eyes up to the moon, purring in joy at it's brilliance.
With her prayer concluded she lifted herself to her paws giving a stretch. She was still young, still so impressionable. ready to throw herself down for the words of Selene. The moonlight glistening off the roaring waves reminded her of the wild might of Selene, how sharp her guidance could be. The thought filled her with awe.
"You are truly a beacon to guide your peers." He purred in greeting as he slipping from the shadows and into her space, smiling towards her. "Devotion such as yours is hard to find." The Minister examined the devon rex, consideration in his eyes as he debated his future choices. The clan needed a Medic, at this rate he was willing to put almost any cat in the position, and who better than one of the few adults currently available. Though calling Twilightpromise an adult was quite a stretch in truth it was one he would be willing to make if she proved herself during their conversation.
"I trust we can rely on you to help your younger clanmates follow Selene's guiding light in these troubling times."
The she-cat jumped slightly glancing over to Puzzlemaker. The shock in her eyes faded to admiration when she recognized the minister. "I try my best!" she mewed with a respectful bow of her head. "Thank you, I appreciate your recognition." She mewed picking her words wisely, Twilightpromise did not wish to sound vain, especially in front of Puzzlemaker. Her memories before the culling where vague, blurred by the grief of loss. A strong determination filled that empty space, a determination to never disappoint Selene again, to never let her clan fall onto the wrong path. "Selene does so much for us, guides us." the words came smoothly from her, they where words she recited to herself often. "It is only fair that we return the favor with our devotion."
I trust we can rely on you to help your younger clanmates follow Selene's guiding light in these troubling times. Twilightpromise gave a confident and eager nod at his words. "It is my duty, and an honor to do such." She mused. "I want all the clan to have salvation."
"Salvation..." He hummed and turned away to watch the sky, "such a simple word for a broad concept. So encompassing it is rather anxiety inducing to thing of it, to think of our place in the world." Puzzlemaker let out a small chuckle before rolling his shoulders to dismiss the words, "Regardless, even if no salvation should come, we should want to be worthy of it at every moment" As he delivered these words he stared meaningfully towards short furred she-cat, trying to impart so many unsaid words.
"Walk with me won't you?" Despite it being phrased as a question the tom started walking regardless of her answer, trusting her to follow. He lead the way out of the crooked gate that held the Estate in its embrace and out into the territory proper, slipping into the shadows of the tall pines and leaving her to trace his steps.
Twilightpromise flicked her ears with embarrassment. She had not thought of it that way, but it was true. All Must live everyday, no every second, In Selene's Image "Of course." she nodded respectfully "I will help others see that as well, Thank you" She soaked up his words, eager to hear from the voice of Selene.
She stretched out her legs and padded after Puzzlemaker. "It is a beautiful night." She purred.
"The night is always beautiful," he agreed, though in truth Puzzlemaker liked the light of the day just as much, if not more. "But the nights darkness can hide dangerous things and we must be careful to be ever vigilant." Despite having just cautioned her he again delivered another, more poetic illusion towards the care they needed to take going forward.
"I know you understand this and this is why I would like to instill you as the clans Medic." He paused and turned to look at her. "I am aware you have had no training, but the Commissioner has some knowledge towards herbs and has agreed to help you there."
Twilightpromise's steps faltered for a moment, "Medic?" she mewed sucking in a breath. She had some, If only basic, knowledge of plants, just form helping out as a student. "I-I would be honored!" the moonlight glinting off her yellow eyes. "If it is what Selene wishes, and what you wish," her words where calm but a hint of excitement seasoned her words. "I will take on that responsibility!" her thoughts wondered to the commissioner, she wondered what knowledge the tom held.
His eyes sparkled as his gaze grew indulgent at her enthusiasm, "it pleases me to hear your willingness to help the clan and Selene." He purred. "Let us go to the Cathedral, it's been uninhabited for so long I'm sure a walk-through wouldn't be amiss." It worked well her eagerness to take the position, because they needed someone in the role before others got restless. "If needed we can arrange for some students to help with clean up or anything else that you might end up wanting done."
The Cathedral! she thought to herself, she had passed it many times, it was beautiful inside, in an eerie sort of way. "I think that would be nice!" she would prefer to do the organization part on her own, she enjoyed her system, and if others where involved she probably would just hover over their shoulders to make sure it was done her way. But the cleanup, would definitely require more paws. "I have passed by many times, it is-" she searched for the right words, "I enjoy the space, it is so serene and peaceful, in it's own way."
