Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Prettykit, watch where you're stepping!" Cherryhop snapped, hauling her daughter off the ground. "You don't want to get a scratched paw!"
They were on their way to the cave, the one Cherryhop always used to go to when she was feeling down. She'd always wanted the chance to take her kits there with her, and it seemed that today was finally their chance. It sure was nice of Sparklepaw to tell Cherryhop that the glow-worms were out in full force today. Especially since she hated him and had no reason to give him anything in return. He probably had a crush on her, like all those other toms. Well, tough for him--she was Handsomeking's and Handsomeking's alone, just as he was hers, and not even his untimely death could break them apart.
"We're here!" Cherryhop announced through a mouthful of Prettykit's fur. She gently placed her kit back on the ground and looked around at the entrance of the cave in wonder. "See, Prettykit? I told you it would be--well, pretty, just like you!"
fox @ian prettykit's kidnapping! we'll just play it by ear lol
Prettykit followed her mother's footsteps with a slight pep in her step until her ma picked her up, to which she responded with an annoyed mrrp before settling in for the ride. This was the first time she was out of camp, and she was pretty certain she wasn't supposed to be. Still, she certainly wasn't going to oppose it, especially since Cherryhop offered to bring her without the weird furballs that thought they were gags her siblings. When her mother let her back down, her eyes widened in appreciation. This place was cool! She turned to her mother, a smile on her face. "It is, Mama! Have you ever touched one? I'm sure they're real soft," she purred, before darting into the den to investigate more.
Kier, who was now very much leader, which made it immensely funny that he was about to help kidnap a random child for no reason other than an apprentice in SunClan whose claws he had manicured one time when they were both kids had said it would be a good way to get back at some woman Kier had never met in his life, crouched on an outcrop of rock near the very top of the cave roof. He leaned over the edge, almost completely lost to the darkness, to peer down at them with a pleased little smile, his ears just sticking out over the edge of the stone.
"Is that them?" he asked Sparklepaw in a low, calm voice. They were very high above the cave floor, precariously so, and their fur glowed - Kier's from the pale blue light of the glowworms, Sparklepaw's just because he glowed. Really, the vague yellow light emanating suspiciously near the cave roof was probably visible from below, but short of shoving him in a sack, there wasn't much Kier could do about his companion's useless element. He turned his head slowly to smile at him, eyes lidded and a purr in his throat. "Your plan worked."
"Yeah..." Sparklepaw's eyes gleamed, glowing brighter in the darkness than even his useless element. "That's her. Cherrypaw--Cherryhop, now. And her daughter, Prettykit. I...can't believe they're actually here." He turned to Kier and smiled shyly. "...So, how are we, um, going about this? There's an entrance to the back of the cave behind us..."
Blissfully unaware of what was going on above her, Cherryhop blinked as Prettykit darted ahead. "Darling? Wait for your mother, sweetie!" She cursed as her paws touched the damp floor of the cave. She always forgot about this part. Uneager to get her paws wet, her progress into the cave much slower than her daughter's.
If Prettykit heard her mother's caution, she simply decided to ignore it, scampering deeper and deeper into the cave. The little she-cat was stupid enough that her abduction probably wouldn't take much, if any, planning in order for it to succeed. She only stopped when she saw the biggest glow worm that she'd seen yet. "Whoa, look at this one, Mama!" When Cherryhop didn't immediately return, the kitten's eyes widened in confusion. "Mama? You there?"
"Darling? Wait for your mother, sweetie!" Kier mimicked quietly in a perfect imitation of Cherryhop's voice, snickering to himself. His bony little shoulders shook. At Sparklepaw's question, he turned his head to look at him. "You wanted to be the kidnapper, my sparkly friend. So, go kidnap." With a smile, he reached out a paw, brushed bits of dust from Sparklepaw's face like he was getting his special boy ready for his big day, and then ushered him away. "Oh!" he added before the warrior-aged-apprentice could leave, glancing over his shoulder and rifling around for a bit before he finally pulled out a genuine hessian sack. "Just in case." He whisked it across the floor towards him.
But, as he was settling back into his crouch to watch happily from above, the rock began to splinter and groan - and, before he could move, finally broke entirely. He fell from the huge height so quickly he didn't have time to make a sound, and landed with a thud directly in front of Cherryhop. Kier was dazed for only a moment before he immediately looked up and greeted her with a dazzling, open-mouthed grin, like they'd been friends for years. "Ah!" He pulled a full-sized, crinkled map out of nowhere and held it out in front of both of them, half-sitting beside the warrior so her view of the deeper cave was completely blocked by the outstretched map. "I was trying to get here," he went on, pointing to a random spot; drawing his paw back, he tapped it against his chin and tilted his head, tossing Cherryhop another friendly grin from close beside her, their cheeks almost pressed together. "But instead I've somehow wandered into this cave. I wonder..." He went on talking at length, turning the map this way and that in front of them, frowning at it.
