Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Koa did a quick headcount of his kits one last time. "Alright," he said, "remember what I said back in the nursery? Absolutely no wandering off, okay? Otherwise an eagle will swoop down and scoop you up for its dinner. And I would really prefer that doesn't happen." Koa winced as he recalled the rather spirited way the DayClan warrior he'd consulted had talked about the time one of the Clan's kits got picked up by a hawk. Maybe the Field of Light wasn't the best place to take his kits for a day trip, but he didn't have many other options. Everything in DayClan seemed so...dangerous, compared to back home. Even the beautiful white tree at the northern border was apparently known for SunClan cats kidnapping anyone who got too close. And that was just a tree!
...Then again, his former home had been destroyed by a bush fire, so maybe it wasn't quite as much of a safety utopia as Koa remembered it.
"So, are we clear?" Koa asked his kits, trying (and hopefully not failing) to sound like a Stern Father, and less like a nervous teenager.
@klee @ian goldcrestsimplylight this is a thread for the lotus/lilac/sorrel/reed litter! no pressure with replies c:
Reedkit didn’t remember what his father had said at all, frankly, but he nodded along anyway, trailing just ahead, bouncy and wide-eyed. He tilted his head back to see Koa, still continuing to walk forward, “why do eagles have to be mean? I would like to be their friend, they sound cool,” he looked forward again, only narrowly missing a rock he would have tripped over, “where are we going anyway?” He carried none of the reluctance about Dayclan like his father, and instead was only painfully curious, wondrous, amazed by all the beautiful sights. His tail hadn’t stopped twitching since they first left the camp. Though he heeded the words, reluctantly and despite his own brain screaming at him to run ahead because, oh, it all looked so exciting.
He suddenly whisked around, gave a clumsy half-roll towards Koa like those secret agents in movies but worse, and practically clung to his side, not out of any real fear, more a false promise to protect him instead of the other way around, “like crystal. OVER!” He rolled ahead, this one just as terrible as the last, “agents 1, 2, and 3 — is the coast clear?” He addressed his littermates sergeant style, not sparing them a glance.
Lotuskit nodded her head slowly at her father, taking in every word he was saying. She loved her siblings, but they were too careless and reckless. She was surprised that their dad would even want to take them on an outing considering how inattentive her siblings were, especially Reedkit, but similar to her father Lotuskit was determined to protect her siblings. She was the oldest, after all. Lotuskit walked alongside her father as they continued on her journey. Her pelt brushing his as she attempted to match his long strides. "Eagles are not cool, Reedkit. They are deadly creatures with a wingspan between 5 and 7 feet. They could snatch you up before dad even gets a chance to unsheathe his claws!" Lotuskit scolded from her spot beside Koa. She paused abruptly when Reedkit suddenly rolled towards them on the ground, glancing every which way as if he could tell danger was lurking right around the corner. Lotuskit's eyes grew wide as her brother rolled back away from them and asked if the coast is clear. "I-I.... think it is clear?" She said unsure.
"Five and seven feet? I don't know about you, Lotuskit, but I think that's pretty cool. Imagine if we were five feet across! That would be pretty rad, wouldn't it?" The tom had been padding along behind his siblings quietly, something that was... uniquely uncommon for the tom. He ran his tail across his sister's shoulder, a grin on his face.
When his brother rolled towards him, he let out a purr of delight. "Looks clear here, copy that," he meowed with a CHHHH noise like an old time walkie-talkie. "Eagle team one is clear for .... whatever it is we are doing today!" It was becoming just as clear that he had been paying nearly as much attention to his father that Reedkit had been, but this wasn't unexpected. Listening was work, and Sorrelkit would do just about anything to avoid work.

She was excited to finally be leaving the camp. It felt like she had been cramped in their with her siblings for ages. They were always so wild and never really listening. It took everything in her to keep them in line sometimes. She wasn't the oldest, but everyone knew she was the bossiest. It was a natural role that she took on from the moment they started walking, even though Lotuskit was supposed to be the responsible one.
Lilackit rolled her eyes at their banter and padded up to stand next to Koa. Giving her other siblings an exasperated passover with judge-y green eyes, she sighed. "Of course we are clear, father. At least, I am. I will help make sure they don't get into any trouble." She pointed up her nose with a sniff.
