Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
“An audience, and a proposition,” Reynardine countered, deciding she’d give the freshkill to one of her cousins, Bermondsey’s offspring, when they came scampering around. For now, her full attention was on Ronan, her gaze contemplative and her smile soft. “I wonder if you would want a litter of kits with me.”
“I need kits, and you seem to enjoy them. Besides, our temperaments balance nicely and you aren’t bloodthirsty or psychotic, from what I can tell.” Rey shifted, watching to gauge his reaction with genuine interest. “You can be as involved or uninvolved as you like- stay here in the Shaman’s den- provided you don’t meddle with my herb collection- and watch the kits while they’re young or stay in the Hunter’s den and pretend you don’t know who they are. The choice is yours- you’re also free to turn me down entirely. I know this is hardly romantic.”
"Romance is for the old or the young. Us middling fools know better." Was his immediate reply and then he smiled wide and bright. "I would love to have kits with you! They'll be so cute and I'll be the best dad!" He was nodding enthusiastically. "And of-course I'd stay with you and keep close to help. You're so busy someones gotta watch them so they don't confuse herbs and die of poison. Though perhaps I'm not the best for that.."
He paused and squinted at her, "Are you sure though? Because you'd have to be the responsible one and I can be sort of flighty and I mean I'm sure there are better choices. Choices that might be more well taken, after all I'm basically a nobody here." Ronan feared that maybe one day the kits would get older and she would shoo him away from them and he could never get to see them again. She didn't seem the type but he had heard all sorts of horror stories about the League parenting style.
Reynardine relaxed her shoulders, relieved to have that over with. In due course her mind would have to shift to actually being a mother, but the question of how the next mage would come about was settled. It didn't particularly bother her that she and Ronan weren't romantically involved- she wasn't sure if she even had the capacity for that with anyone. Nor did it bother her that he was likely a year younger than herself, or that she would be the responsible one. It left her with a certain amount of control, which she had to admit she enjoyed having.
"I've thought it through carefully, and I certainly don't mind your lack of status," Reynardine said, matching his smile with one of her own. "Besides, I can always move my herb store to the gardens if I feel it's too much of a threat for the kits. All I ask is that you don't take a mate, have any other kits, or move out of the Shaman's den until the kits become trainees. Children need a certain sense of stability in their home life, after all. Does that work for you?"
Ronan's head bobbed enthusiastically, "those are simple enough requests! Easy to follow!" Besides he hadn't really yet run into another cat that had tugged at his interests. There were those he of-course observed as pretty or handsome but there was never an accompanying spark. And as flighty as he could be he did, as she had mentioned, wanted his kits to have stability. Parents that got along and weren't just the result of a one time fling that crashed and burned.
"Is there anything I should worry about or look out for? Any family I should be wary of?" He considered that while Reynardine's mother was no longer around she might have protective friends or cousins that might had opinions to share with him.
[Should we end this thread with this interaction? Or would you like to continue with a time skip of sorts? It is up to you! Also if you have ideas for them I'm eager to hear. Right now I know Ronan's going to be a hoverer! Also I don't know how you do litter's of kits on this site between pairs but I would like to express my interest in rping one. ]
(sorry for the late response, I totaled my car and have been figuring out insurance :cccc You can absolutely have a kit! I'll message you on the site in the next day or so, and we can plan names and appearances! for this thread, do you want to wrap up this interaction and time skip to the middle of the pregnancy?)
"Bermondsey is my uncle, and his kits are my cousins, and I have no idea where my mother is. But my dad's side of the family is far from here and won't be any trouble. And I barely speak with Bermondsey, so he won't care either. They're nothing to be wary of, but my young cousins burst in here from time to time and I'm sure they'll be by here more once the kits are here." Reynardine smiled in amusement.
"What about you? Any family on your part I should be aware of?"
[ That works for the timeskip! You can skip right after this response. And I'm so excited for the babies! ]
"Uh family, haha." Ronan shook his head, in the back of his thoughts the prospect of his kits being distantly related to Bermondsey was a little daunting even if he would have little involvement with them. "Personally I never knew mine, I was an only child to a mother that thought I was a hellion and died when I was young. My father was never named to me." He paused and blinked at her as he realized that sounded a little more depressing than he meant it to be.
"Ah so no worries about family from my side. You'll be getting my dashing good looks and no baggage." Glancing over his shoulder he fidgeted. "Speaking of baggage I should probably go be productive today, as much as I would rather spend the day speaking with you." He winked before pushing to his paws and turning to leave waving his tail it farewell. "See you later!"
