Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Okay so this wasn't how she expected her day to go. This wasn't how anyone ever expected their day to go but, here she was. Stuck face first into a bramble bush that had no intent on letting her go. Cinnamonpaw groaned in defeat, any and all attempts to simply back out of the bush had failed her. Every time she tried the sharp plant would rake through her short fur, scratching her and miraculously managing to tangle itself tighter into her fur. The apprentice briefly thought about calling out for help, but if she didn't starve to death trapped there forever, surely the embarrassment of being found like this would kill her.
The rustle of a bush caught Calmingstorm's attention. Her ears pricked and she slowly approached the noise, being ever so cautious. Since she hadn't had much luck today, she carelessly skipped over scenting and truly looking at where she was going, eager to catch something. She gave a clumsy pounce, and as she came down she noticed the face of a cat coming closer, and worse, thick brambles. With a surprised yowl she tumbled into cat and bush, rolling on the edge and ripping fur in the process.
Cinnamonpaw couldn't help the shriek of genuine terror that escaped her as she came face to face with Calmingstorm as the warrior got closer and closer to her very quickly. This wasn't what she had in mind when she thought of being rescued. In fact she was sure this was the exact opposite of a rescue. Even startled she couldn't manage to tear herself free from the wretched bush. Squeezing her eyes shut she braced herself and winced when the older cat collided with the bush.
"Are... Are you alright?" she asked hesitantly after a moment.
Dazed from her tumble, Calmingstorm shook her head, attempting to focus on what was in front of her. A throaty chuckle began deep in her chest. Despite the bad luck she had had today, she couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculous situation. Quickly, as if she finally realized Cinnamonpaw was caught in the brambles, she sprang to her paws. "Oh, I'm fine. My fur will grow back, but are you all right?" Concern quickly spread over her face and she assessed the brambles that ensnared her clanmate. "How long have you been here?"
She let out a sigh of relief, at least one of them was okay. No, they were both okay, she briskly reminded herself that, there were worse fates than merely being caught half way in a bramble bush. At least she wasn't alone now, and Calmingstorm's... flashy entrance at least undermined any embarrassment Cinnamonpaw had about her predicament.
"Uh... since sun-high...?" She really wasn't paying attention to the sun's position when she got herself into this mess, nor was she exactly aware of the sun's current position.
Calmingstorm began attempting to detach her clanmate from the brambles, listening to Cinnamonpaw. "In any case, I'm glad I... stumbled onto you," She meowed, amusement tinging her words. The she-cat worked to free the apprentice, carefully dismantling her from each bramble, until the young cat was free to move again.
"Yeah... stumbled." Cinnamonpaw teased, a purr of amusement seeping into her voice. She made sure to stay very still as he clan-mate worked. Feeling the bush's hold on her loosen the apprentice quickly pulled herself out of it, bounding a few tail lengths away for good measure.
"Phew! that was something, thank you so much. I thought I was never getting out of there." It was a silly thing to admit and she had to resist the urge to groom herself in her embarrassment. "It's a shame the mouse I followed in there is long gone by now."
"Of course," Calmingstorm mewed, happy she had been able to help. "Oh, yes. I'm sure the noise I made frightened all the nearby prey... which is a pity. I haven't had much luck today." Her ears swiveled in an attempt to catch any stray prey noises, though no such luck was had. "Say, maybe we can try a hunt somewhere else? I would hate to go back empty pawed."
