It had been a while since her grand children had come with her to SunCLan. She had tried to give them some time and space to adjust before starting her lessons, and tell them the true meaning of why they were here instead of in SwiftClan with their parents. She had asked the cats to meet her in her den today, for the first step in their training "Today, I will begin teaching you what you are really here to learn" she paused, giving the young cats a moment to listen "It goes beyond simple hunting and fighting skills, and it is was why you were brought here instead of me simply giving you lessons in SwiftClan"
The tip of her tail flickered "After you have mastered this, you will be allowed to return home if that is what you desire. I will not make you stay in SunClan, once you have learned how to defend yourselves. It is what I promised your parents, and one that I intend on keeping. After we are done, there are three paths before you to take and it is up to each of you to decide what it is that you desire to do next. You can stay in SwiftClan, and cut your ties with SunClan entirely. You can live as a ray, and go back and forth between SunClan and SwiftClan as you wish. The option to stay in SunClan is also there if it is what you want. I will leave that decision in your paws"
The silver she-cat looked over the apprentices, her gaze lingering on each of them "Are you ready to begin your training?"
Jetpaw always looked annoyed around Littlestar and today was no different. Could you blame him? If not for her ruling, he'd still be back home in SwiftClan, able to live his life how he wanted it. Instead here he was, jumping through hoops to satisfy a cat he still barely knew.
"..." He didn't was to respond too quickly to Littlestar's question and come across as too eager, so he let the silence draw out just long enough before replying with a simple, "Yes."
Tranquilpaw kept her gaze low. All she wanted to do was leave. This place had only done bad thing to her. When she left SwiftClan, she was as healthy as ever. But her time in the foreign land just... changed her. The she-cat's skin clung tightly to her ribs. Most of the lean mass on her body had dissipated.
The emaciated apprentice gave the Leader a weak nod, and refocused on a little pebble in the ground to hold off the dizziness.

Littlestar nodded “There is an..entity… that is out to hurt myself, sunclan, and all those that share my blood. Even though you were in swiftclan, I fear it may come for you to. Your clan can help protect you physically, where SwiftClan is nomadic finding you could be quite difficult. The problem is, they can do nothing to help protect your mind” she looked over the apprentices judging their reactions “This thing can enter into your dreams, and cause you harm, without your clan-mates even noticing that you under distress. Sunclan is part of the enchanted forest, and we have some protections that other clans do not. Out there… your mind is vulnerable to attack”
“I’m going to be teaching you to shield your minds, and how to oust intruders out of your dreams. When you are able to successfully keep me from walking in your dreams, you will be allowed to return home. I want you all to practice this exercise before you sleep tonight, because your visit with me will be tonight. The first step in protecting yourself is being able to distinguish between a dream and reality. Sometime this can be difficult, and often the key is in the little details. A lead not quite the right color, something someone says is off. A dream is the images your own mind conjures. To definitely know if it is a dream or reality, you have to be able to outsmart your own mind. As you train today, look at those smaller details more carefully. Study how the ground feels under your feet, how the birds calling out over head sound, they way cats around you move and speak. Tonight when I visit you, you have to decide if what you are seeing is real or not. Is it really me you are seeing or an image your own mind conjured?”
Jetpaw didn't want to believe it, but he could tell that Littlestar wasn't lying to them. She'd never once lied to him. She'd held back information, sure, but she'd always ben honest. She didn't deserve his trust, but she had earned it.
"Because we are related to you, our bodies and minds aren't safe," It was an obvious statement. Repeat, really. But Jetpaw wanted to use his own voice to it, cementing it for him, "So, to keep us safe, you uprooted us from our home and brought us... closer to you.. and now want to teach us how to fight monsters in our dreams. I didn't miss anything, right?"
That was when Jetpaw gave his grandmother the look, one she'd know well. His eyes were a different color but the intensity was all Bloodyhearts's. He was testing just how far he could push Littlestar, just as her former Promised had done all those moons ago. Back then, it turned out he could push her pretty far - would the same be true today?
