Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Pumpkinspice & Calamitykit @ me | Cal, Chaicrisp, Batkit simplylight | Harvestkit kuno | Chestnutkit faeish | Venuskit @dot (or if you wanted Bijou or any of Bat's family to come) | and yknow what, I'll also invite Cleaver for either Crownglass (as Pumpkin's mentor / another dad figure) or Jayjack and say that Chai dragged him along c; anyone with family to Bat can also pop in
To anyone else, this trip was probably a bad idea. The kits were just barely old enough to bound around camp on their own, and had stumbled a couple of times on their way here. They were young still, but Cal had very easily convinced Pumpkinspice that they definitely needed to go camping soon, and Pumpkin was never really that patient and had responded to the idea with a 'why wait!?'. So, here they were after gathering any family that they could find for a super exciting trip to the camping grounds.
Unsurprisingly, Pumpkinspice was just as excited as the kits were when they arrived. "What are we doing first?" she asked, her voice rising in pitch as she turned to face Cal - who she hoped had at least slightly prepared for this. All that she had done in preparation was go around telling everyone about this, so hopefully at least one of the others thought ahead.
Crownglass was happy to tag along with his former apprentice, eyes glimmering with pride. He loved kits, and these felt like they could be his grandkids. “Are you excited?” he murmured to them, his voice louder than intended.
Calamitykit had, unsurprisingly, not been paying much attention to anything other than the flowers that lined the path. It had happened more than once that he had stopped walking entirely to get a better look at a particularly pretty plant that he had never seen before, only to be pushed along once more. Now that they had finally arrived, he had already managed to shove his entire face into a bush. When Crownglass spoke, he pulled his head out, leaves and twigs already sticking into his fur every-which-way.
"Yeah!" he replied, a large, cheerful grin on his face.
Chestnutkit was over the moon about the adventure. She had been dying to escape into the wilderness, her thirst for answers and curiosity of plants driving her onwards. Her eyes had also been trained on passing plants, studying them and giving them testing sniffs. In response to her mother's question, she began bouncing around, exclaiming, "Can't we learn about the plants? I wanna know what they do, so I can help when our cats are hurt!"
Chaicrisp let out a sigh of relief, glad to be away from the camp and the looming cloud of depression that hovered over her every time she saw Jayjack and Hystericstar together. Maybe she'll finally get to enjoy herself this trip!
Calamityshrine couldn't have been more excited and bounced from paw to paw as he addressed the little crew. Did he prepare? Definitely not. Not at all. But, he was a master at coming up with exciting activities so he just knew it would be a fun time for all. His eyes brimmed with tears as he gazed at the cute little puffballs and his adopted daughters, and Crownglass because why not. "I'm so happy we could go camping together." He sniffed dramatically. "Alright, what are we doing first? Of course, I have the most exciting things planned for you all! So first....first..." His eyes shifted around the area, looking for something to give him an idea. Ah, a pretty stick. "First, we are going to do some stick carving! That's right. I want each of you to find two sticks. One for burning and another, pretty stick for carving."
Batkit blinked a few times and gave a smile to his littermates, wondering if they were as excited as he was to spend time with family. "Oh, I've never done stick carving before. Mama, can you help me find a good one?"
Harvestkit, the first born of the litter, had taken it upon himself to keep a watchful eye on his siblings. A small grin formed on his maw once they’d reached their destination, watching the excitement of his family. “Me too,” he chided in, his hopeful gaze flickering from Batkit to their mother. He wanted to find the perfect sticks!
Crownglass beamed, happy to hear the kits were all so excited for the trip. The adults all seemed happy too!
"How about you and I go look for a good stick," he suggested to Harvestkit, "while your momma helps Batkit? We'll find a good stick really fast if we work together!" He didn't know any of the kits very well, but this one seemed quieter, or more mature -- at the very least, he didn't have his head in a bush and he wasn't bouncing all over the place either.
Quickly masking the disappointment at not being able to go along with his mother, nodding along as he looked up to Crownglass with a smile. “Let’s do it,” he affirmed, getting to his paws from where he’d sat down with his tail around his paws. If they could the sticks quickly they would no doubt find the best.
Looking rather dejected, Chestnutkit silently began searching for her own stick, pushing down her own feelings about what she was excited about. The she-kit tried hard to not become bitter, sniffing around for a nice stick to claw at. She might as well make the most of her excursion outside of camp, regardless.

"Oh, Chestnutkit! I don't have anyone to go look for sticks with me. Could you help?" Chaicrisp called to her niece with a gentle smile. "I can tell you about some of the plants we see along the way, if you'd like?"

If they could the sticks quickly they would no doubt find the best.
He beamed at the kit's smile; if he saw his disappointment, the warrior was quick to forgive. "Great! Let's hurry off this way, I know of a great stash," he whispered. "What do you think the perfect stick looks like?"

The small tabby tom crouched low to the ground in thought, also keeping in mind that since they were whispering, it was surely to be kept a secret. Keeping his tone about as hushed as a kit could he responded, “since we’re carving it’s got to be a little wide I would think.. for there to be room!”

"Perfect, let's get started!" Chaicrisp purred back to Chestnutkit, relieved that the little tyke seemed to cheer up. She pointed with her tail to the different directions they could go. "Is there any way you want to start? What looks interesting to you?"
"Hmmm.." The she-kit contemplated the options, glancing at each way carefully. She settled on a thick cluster of trees, deciding there would probably be a range of options there. "How 'bout over there?" Chesnutkit squeaked, already tumbling in the direction she had failed to point out. "It looks like there might be some herbs, too!"
With Cal's announcement of an activity, a large grin formed on Pumpkinspice's face. Honestly, it probably wouldn't have mattered what activity he had come up with, for she probably would have been just as excited with anything. She swung her head around to meet Batkit's expectant gaze, giving a large and rather exaggerated nod of her head. "You bet! I know just what to look for to find the best sticks!" She had, after all, eaten her fair share of them. "This way - probably!" With that, she took off, barely even stopping to make sure that her own kit was following her.
Unfortunately, Calamitykit had become distracted again. Once more, his face was shoved inside of a bush, and he had somehow managed to completely ignore everything going on around him as he nosed forward, searching for any sort of flower bulb or cool leaf.
Dragging a stick out of the underbrush, Harvestkit gleamed with joy as he dropped his find. He was sure he could find more, but before he could disappear into the undergrowth once more his golden gaze landed on his brother. “What are you looking for?” He asked, coming up behind his sibling, curious to know what he’d found. He wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t a stick, it was just like his brother to get himself distracted by something else.

"Ooohh it does!" Purred Chaicrisp, hoping that she somehow remembered all of the random herb knowledge she had picked up through the moons and that it had to do with these particular ones. She followed quickly after Chestnutkit, keeping her eyes peeled for sticks and herbs. "What do you see?"
Batkit's eyes shone as Pumpkinspice spoke and he let out a happy, and bewildered, squeal as she began to bound away. His little legs could hardly keep up with her. "Mama, you're so fast!" He giggled and accidentally tripped over his own feet and face-planted mid-giggle.
If Batkit hadn't suddenly stopped giggling, perhaps Pumpkinspice wouldn't have even noticed that her kit had fallen. She had never been the brightest, and typically forgot that others were around her when she got too excited, and so the giggle was the only thing that had made the orange tabby glance backwards. "Did you find som- Batkit! That's dirt!" She was pretty sure that dirt wasn't a stick - though she had eaten both.
