Cursedheart let out a soft growl as he sat, hunched back, in front of the nursery. He wasn't allowed to go on patrol, wasn't allowed to go hunting. No he had to stay and guard the nursery and the whiny brats inside. Who thought this was a good idea? The bright orange tom lashed his tail along the ground as he glared at the deputy, who limped back towards the empty medicine cat den. If he wanted the nursery guarded so badly why didn't he come over and do it! Cursedheart had better things to do then this... and he definitely didn't have the patience for it!
Lunarpoem was a new queen. Her first ever litter was resting inside the nursery and while they spy she figured she’d step outside for some fresh air. Being a mother was a lot more exhausting than she realized. “I wish a good afternoon sun upon another, fellow enjoyer of the rays and breather of the air.” He speech drove many away and some were questioning how she’d found a tom who could stand he fling enough to even have kits. But she adored poems and had been speaking this way since she was an apprentice and it wasn’t likely to change anytime soon.

It took everything within Cursedheart not to jump as Lunarpoem's soft voice interrupted his brooding thoughts. But the tom had let out a startled, choked yowl, as his amber eyes narrowed briefly into thin slits. The warrior looked over towards the queen, swallowing his embarrassment and clearing his throat while he smoothed down the fur that was now standing straight up along his back.
"Uh... yea, right, hey there." The tom said, doing his best to pretend he knew what it was the she-cat was trying to say. He thought maybe she was trying to say hello? Maybe, he could never tell with Lunarpoem
Wicked laughter was quick to bubble out of Lunarpoem. Who knew it was so easy to startle a clan mate?”a moment, you need? Or mereyspace to breath? Do wish to calm a racing heart startled by fright?” Mirth was obvious in her face and her words as she tried to calm her laughter as she took a seat beside him at the entrance to the den. It was one of those rare days, warm but with a cool breeze, a break in the cold day’s winter was bringing forth.
She repeated, though as many other cats had done the same, she knew he still wouldn’t understand. But what more could she do? Lunarpoem shook her head and turned her gaze to the sky, watching as clouds went by. Peaceful day, she thought. A quick glance in the nursery and her gaze returned, then a quick glance to the tom beside her and back to the sky. Lunarpoem was content to sit in silence, she’d done it many times before with other cats. But she was also intrigued by this tom. He’d seemed so angry only moments before and now she had him stumped.

Cursedheart still wasn't able to understand the strange she-cat. And now she only sat in silence. Staring at the clouds, looking back at the nursery, and then back at him... only to look back at the clouds.
"...Well... when you sneak up on a cat like that they're bound to get scared." He said defensively. That's what she was commenting on... right? The fact that she had managed to sneak up and scare him like that? Cursedheart pinned his ears back as his annoyance grew, and he forced himself to stare at the ground.
“But who scared? The sneaker or the other? Who’s should startle when shadows move? The shadow for moving or the object for existing?” Lunarpoem now had her full attention turned to the tom curious how he would answer. Whether he realized it or not he’d figured out he first two poems and she wanted to know if he could keep it up. A grin was on her face, pleased and curious and hungry for him to keep speaking with her. Few did and it left her with only her thoughts more than she desired.
