Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Senescence was lounging next to the water in Cherry Cove. Which was fairly normal for her, actually, just sitting around wherever she wanted with no care in the world. She hadn't been spotted much lately, seeming to be lurking more in the shadows than spending time with her family, but it was just her luck that her mother would find her eventually. The large russet feline could tell it wasn't her mate, and the breeze that wafted Glowstar's scent past her nose only confirmed it.
There was a faint sigh, and the scarred she-cat turned her head slightly to blink at her mother with a bored expression. "Did you need something? Or just come to bother me for no reason?"
Honeystorm "If I'm truly a bother by just being a presence in your life then you must love torturing yourself for moving into my clan," Glowstar said uncharacteristically dryly, "And it's about Innocentia. I don't have proof, but I've been listening closely and it sounds like she plans to take someone's litter in DayClan, fatten them up, and eat them when they're of age. You know, because you're so kind about having that, don't eat kit rule," She said, waiting for a reaction from her daughter before continuing.
"Innocentia still has killed less kits than your mate, who you let lead this clan, so maybe lay off with the lecture." If not for her mother's attitude towards Sen's usual bored sarcasm, she might have responded more favorably. But it did irritate her that her mother was so quick to point out Innocentia as this evil, when even on the worst of days, her mate hadn't done even half the horrible things Foxstar had, and Glowstar still made her leader of DayClan. "Come bother me again when you have more than just your hatred of my mate as proof she's plotting." Of course, Sen didn't mention she would probably talk to Inno to tell her not to mess with DayClan kits. Her mother would assume what she wanted to.
"She doesn't make her intentions obvious Senescence, Foxstar has actual class, but Innocentia's rather bold about her killings. I mean she BRINGS her pieces of her meals into camp to eat," Glowstar pointed out.
"Come bother me again when you have more than just your hatred of my mate as proof she's plotting."
"Oh, like you don't love listening to all the reasons I dislike Innocentia so you can be reminded of why she's the perfect fit for you," Glowstar teased, "Listen, all I'm saying is maybe talk to her because it's escalating. I mean she literally bites people and then threatens to eat anyone who annoys her, which wouldn't be bad if she didn't legitimately mean it."
"It's pretty obvious, you just like that she doesn't outright say what everyone knows she's thinking and planning." Senescence countered without missing a beat. "I'm not going to let her eat kits. I make no promises that the other DayClan cats don't deserve it if they want to test her." She shrugged nonchalantly. "You have that Forsaken rank if she goes too far. What's the point in it existing if we don't make sure it's used?"
Honestly, Senescence could have been joking, she could be serious. It was pretty likely a combination of both.
"I-" Glowstar paused, grimacing, "It's alright," She said with a soft smile before lying down beside Senescence, "Because, whatever happens we'll handle it as a family. I came off rude, my intention was only to prevent us getting on each others nerves even worse in the future, but I'm alright enjoying this moment with you too. We can always talk about that later. But if there is talk of her becoming a forsaken you're not allowed to threaten the imperials lives."
"So long as they don't make her cry there won't be a problem." Sen stated, tilting her head slowly at her mother's suggestion of enjoying the moment. Things seemed soooo joyous this far. "I won't threaten the Imperials. Wouldn't want to give them the heads up to run anyhow." Not comforting, since she'd more than suggested she would just murder and Imperial who upset Inno. Her mate probably wouldn't have to lay a paw on anyone, Senescence would do it for her.
"Just don't tell her that or she'll cry at anyone she doesn't like," Glowstar remarked, but was quick to flick her own paws at herself to quiet the negativity. "I'm sorry, I have an internalized bad habit of cruelly criticizing her, even if she's cruel too... It will take time, but I will get there and I hope you let me be supportive of you and Innocentia when I can catch up to be positive about it eventually. I don't want to be cut out of your families life. But if you have some ground rules about how I should curve my behavior towards you or your family let me know. I never want to be like my mom, I want you and your family to feel loved by me."
At Glowstar's ground rules suggestion, she glanced at her mother, trying to consider what to say as she pushed herself into a sitting position "Stop treating judging her more than you judge Foxstar or any of your other kits' mates. This whole time, you're so quick to assume she's going to cause trouble, and yet so far, she hasn't done anything to warrant being constantly watched. And don't tell me the biting and threatening to eat people is a big deal, we both know that's extremely tame, for just about anyone in the family, whether they're Eerie by blood or marriage."
"Normally you just don't hear it, but I won't make it public," Glowstar admitted. Even Gravel she had been uncertain about, but grew to like. That was until the WinterClan kit stealing incident, after that the two had lost the closeness they once had. It had hit a boiling point when she married Foxstar and then...
"Besides, I give everyone's mates the same criticism and skepticism as everyone in this family remarks to Foxstar. And yeah, Foxstar's done more to warrant it, but in this family where do you truly draw the line on when you're worth being the point of judgment or not? But, like I said, I will not judge her publicly anymore. Does that still count?" She asked hopefully with a hopeful grin.
Sen didn't necessarily have reason to disbelieve what her mother was saying. "We'll go with it for now." She agreed. Even if she didn't entirely trust that this would be the end of things, she'd let it go and bring it up when it was a problem. "I'll remind her not to touch DayClan kits. Contrary to what seems the be thought, I don't exactly want this place destroyed... most days." Even then, she was pretty well cemented as someone who, while she may never shout it from the treetops, did actually care that kits weren't abused or suffered greatly, so she would probably make sure to keep her mate in line.
