Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The scent of blood hung thick in the air, spilling over the border into DayClan territory. Yowling could be heard for a few fluttering moments, followed by gurgling, then silence.... dead silence.
"Well that doesnt sound good," Electricwolf muttered. The normally massive tom was a lot scrawnier than usual, still recovering from imprisonment. But he headed in the direction of the yowling and gurgling. If there was an attacker, better he deal with them, than a young apprentice.
The scent of blood grew heavier as he made his way forward. As he passed over a crest, the bodies became visible. There were two of them. One was a golden tabby she-cat with blood wetting her fur at the nape of her neck, which was twisted unnaturally. The other was a jet black tom whose throat was marred by a jagged tear from which most off the stench seemed to radiate. His amber eyes stared blankly at the sky. Between the two corpses huddled two young she-cats, both visibly trembling. Even at a distance, their resemblance to the dead cats is near impossible to miss. Both possess the slender frame of the dead she-cat and their pelts of black and pale gold further reinforce this conclusion.
"Great StarClan!" Electricwolf gasped moving forwards, mouth open scenting the air for any attackers who might come his way. And for any trace of who had done this. He moved towards the pair, eyes saddening when he saw the two smaller shapes. He couldnt immediately see any wounds but he feared the pair had suffered the same fate as their parents.
No foreign scents are forthcoming, but at his voice, the two young cats sprang apart. The jet black one fluffed herself up, snarling ferociously at the newcomer, revealing a deep, vicious wound stretching from the middle of her chest to her right shoulder. Her long front claws were also bloody. The pale golden tabby stood just behind her sister, a faint spatter of blood on her fair face, though she sported no apparent wounds. And so it was that Electricwolf was faced with two sets of amber eyes, one threatening, one wary, both terrified.
"Whoa!" Electricwolf stepped back. "Easy! I dont mean you any harm!" He said quickly. "I smelled blood and came to see what happebed and well... what happened? You're wounded and," he glanced at the bodies.
The black she-cat bared her fangs a moment longer, but the golden she-cat stepped in front of her. She cast a look of warning at her sister before returning her gaze to him. "It was a rogue." She mewed. The black cat cast a surprised look at her sister but remained silent as she continued. "Father had chased him off a kill the other day..." Oddly, the word father was spat out, like a piece of crowfood.
Electricwolf's eyes narrowed. The way the young cat spat the word 'father'. He considered the pair, the fair one who's face only seemed to have been splashed with blood, whereas her sister was injured, and her claws were bloody.
There were two options here, it was as the pair claimed and a rogue had come and killed their parents and disappeared. Or... there was another more ominous possibility.
But regardless of what the truth really was, the young one was hurt and her sister clearly distressed. "It sounds like you've endured a great deal." He said softly, "Let me help you, that wound looks nasty." Well he couldn't say for certain if it was bad, but it definitely needed to be at least looked at.
The sisters' gaze met for a moment before meeting his once more. As though by silent signal, the black one stepped forward to him, though both remained scared and cautious.
"It's okay," Electricwolf assured her. "I just need to look at your wound, I need to see how bad it is. See if you need some cobwebs or... well you'd be best off with a medicine cat, but cobwebs at least will help. But I need to see how much you need..." He said softly, then he paused realizing her efforts to try and show it to him and keep her distance could cause her pain. "And if it hurts to show it me, maybe your sister could gesture on herself how big it is and you both can sit tight while I get you some cobwebs."
"Thank you, but we'd rather not be left alone, in case the rogue comes back." the golden cat mewed quickly. The black one cast her another glance, but once again remained silent.
Electricwolf mulled this over. He still had questions, and he didn't entirely feel they were being truthful about what had befell their parents. But they were young cats.
"How about this then, I'll check your wound. And if it's not too bad you can come with me to get cobwebs, we'll get you set up and then come back to bury those cats." Electricwolf glanced over to the parents. "Otherwise the crows, foxes or StarClan knows what other creatures will come and pick from their bodies." He said.
He patted himself on the back for this, it'd be a subtle way to gauge the two young she cats feelings towards their parents. Surely if they'd been willing to kill them, they would want them to rot...
But then why huddle close to them?
'Make sure they're out of the woods first, let them calm down. If you start interrogating them you'll frighten them. Make sure the black one's wound is okay, calm them a bit, and then gently ask them what really happened' He thought to himself. The priority was securing the young ones safety, as there was clearly a lot going on here.
The golden cat eyed him for a second, as though trying to discern his motives before answering. "We won't attack you without cause. Please look over her wound. I'm very worried about the bleeding... As for burials, yes. But neither mom nor father would approve of us risking Kamara's health on it." Both cats' eyes darted towards their mother. They seem to deflate at the sight, especially her lookalike, the golden cat. Both went silent.
"Well, I'm plenty strong, I can dig the holes and you two can pay your respects before laying them to rest." Electricwolf said. "By the way, my name is Electricwolf, I'm a warrior of DayClan. So I'm familiar with wounds, I'm not medicine cat, but cobwebs I can do easy enough,"
He came up to them and stopped. "All right, Kamara was it, may I see your wound?" As he came closer his eyes dropped to her claws briefly trying to see if there was any fur caught in it.
More black fur was stuck in her right claws, though with it being the same as her own, its source was debatable. The wound itself was extremely deep, as though the cat who put out there had their full weight on her. The yellow cat nodded. "My name is Safara." She responded. Did her eyes narrow at him when he looked at her sister's claws? Maybe he just imagined it...
Electricwolf winced, that wound needed to be looked at for sure. "Okay, that is a deep wound. We need to get that wrapped. There was a bush a few fox lengths away that looked like it had some cobwebs hidden under it. I'll go grab some, you two can keep close behind me. If I'm going too fast, tell me, I'd really rather you sit and wait, but if you want to follow. I don't want you hurting yourself worse."
Seeing the black fur in her claws raised his suspicions... But he'd have to look at the parents bodies. In fact.
"Before we leave I'm going to make sure your parents bodies are mostly kept safe so they aren't disturbed, give me a moment." Electricwolf trotted over to the bodies and intermediately looked at the parents claws and getting a close look at their injuries.
The she cat was young, so he gave the wounds as critical of a look as possible as he carefully began gathering some leaves to conceal the pairs bodies. While they weren't going far, better to give them some cover.
There was no fur in the mother's claws. Her wound looked eerily professional, especially as she was otherwise unscathed. In the father's claws however, there was black fur. There was golden fur too, but it was a darker gold, almost like the mother's fur. His one wound was jagged but fairly shallow. It must have only just got the artery from which he bled out.
Electricwolf looked from the father to the mother and a grim theory began to present itself in his mind.
The lack of any trace of an outsiders presence, the bloody wound on the young black she cat, the terrible fatal injury to the mother that one so young had no prayer of managing. the presence of both the daughters colored fur and the mothers, the black fur in Kamara's claws.
'Did their father... kill their mother? StarClan, why. What kind of cat would do that, and then attack his children?' Questions burned through Electricwolf. He wanted to grab the father and shake him demanding to know what had happened. Why this had happened. Instead he had to go ask the traumatized young children to recount it.
There was still the possibility the theory was wrong but the evidence was pointing to the grisly conclusion.
Electricwolf finished covering the bodies and returned to the young cats, "Come, lets get you wrapped up. What are your names by the way?" He knew from the lighter she cat calling the black one Kamara, her name was likely Kamara, but he wanted to give them the chance to introduce themselves as he led the way to a nearby bush to grab some cobwebs.
"My name is Safara. It's nice to meet you. " The golden cat said, her eyes had returned to her mother. "And mine is Kamara." The black cat said when her sister didn't introduce her. Her voice was rough, as though it was rarely used. Both followed him, Safara supporting Kamara as they went.
