uniqcrim - I noticed you had a lot of apprentices & so do I so apprentice patrol it is! pick 2 of your cats ^^
Vividpaw stuck her head into the apprentice's den and cleared her throat.
"Is anyone free to go on a quick patrol with me? My nephew Jetpaw hasn't been to the Boneyard yet and the more the merrier!"
"Will you stop calling me your nephew? I'm older than you..." Jetpaw murmured, sounding very annoyed. He'd been born and raised in SwiftClan but recently had been forced to join SunClan with his littermates due to the Ray code. He wasn't happy about it and had been having a hard time settling in, especially since he looked so very similar to his tyrant father, Bloodycrow. Vividpaw zeroed right in on this and decided to make her mission to give him a friend group.
"But you are my cute adorable nephew, nephew!" She purred, rubbing her head against his. He didn't flinch at the touch but definitely didn't seem to enjoy it, "You can call me auntie if you want, I don't mind."
I have so many apprentices it's so hard to choose who to play with! xD
A gagging sound could be heard from the corner and Deliciatepaw stepped forward. "That was the grossest display of auntie affection I've ever seen." She couldn't help but comment on it. The she-cat didn't exactly have strong family ties and having an aunt be younger than you was weird, even if it was common. "Maybe if you're a good boy your auntie will give you a treat," She smirked and gave Jetpaw an appraising look, clearly unimpressed. He was a skinny little kitten in her eyes.
"Come on, give him a break." A long furred white she-cat spoke out of nowhere, limping forward on a twisted and painful foot. "I'll join your patrol, I have been around camp way too long today!" The good natured Dragonpaw offered with an excited gleam in her yellow eyes. Despite the injury she could hold herself well in a fight and she had traveled long to get here. She hadn't been here long and was soon planning to ask the healers of Sunclan if there was anything they could do to correct it.
Jetpaw knew right away that he would not be getting along with Delicatepaw. She's managed to insult him twice in the same breath which, to be fair, matched the image he'd formed of a proper SunClan cat, but still rubbed him the wrong way. Kind of like Vividpaw. Dragonpaw was different, though, her scent was closer to his own that SunClan's, so he picked her out pretty quickly as the non-Clan born cat of the group. This meant he had more in common with her than anyone else present. Plus she'd defended him, that was also a positive.
"I wish I could say it's nice to meet you two," He was still a guarded young tom, though, and didn't plan on making any more friends in SunClan than he already had, which were none. As soon as his training was complete he would be washing off the body paint and returning to SwiftClan.
"Oh, don't be such a grouch!" Vividpaw acted as if she hadn't picked up on a single ounce of tension and shined brightly as a mini sun as she looked at her assembled group, "We're going to have a lot of fun. Now let's get going!"
With that Vividpaw tapped Jetpaw on the shoulder and began to pad away. The ginger-furred tom followed reluctantly, glancing back at the two she-cats to see if they were even following.
(in my next reply I'll fast travel to the Boneyard xD)

She rolled her eyes, that was such a half baked remark Deliciatepaw didn't even know where to start. She would tag along with this rag tag team just to make sure they didn't get into a ridiculous amount of trouble. Lately she'd been doing a lot of kit sitting and it had begun to unexpectedly grow on her. She checked to make sure her intricately bright body paint was still intact before moving with the group.
"I've been excited to go to the boneyard, do you think there are great big skeletons poking up and creepy ravens waiting to peck the flesh off your own bones?" The macabre story was ruined but her soft little giggle as she limped painfully next to Jetpaw, but managed to keep up all the same. He seemed shy and a bit hesitant, but could be a fun friend and ally to have around. Soon she would be having her leg amputated and it would be nice to enjoy others in the meantime, just in case she ended up in the boneyard herself.
"That's what they all say," Jetpaw remarked, slowing down his pace slightly to accommodate Dragonpaw. She wouldn't know this, but all of his older siblings had been born with special needs. None mobility related but all of them needed extra help to feel part of the group. The shift was natural for him, he didn't even realize it, "They are supposed to be---"
"They're bones of the Sun God's ancient enemies!!" Vividpaw just couldn't help but insert herself into the conversation, causing Jetpaw to sigh and roll his eyes, "From all the way back before the lions and the tigers. They're so cool, you'll have a lot of fun once we get there.... and hey, if you're lucky, you may even get to see the dragon."
"The dragon is not real." Jetpaw said sternly, tail-tip beginning to flick back and forth in annoyance.
"The dragon is so totally real and maybe with Dragonpaw here it may just pay us a visit. Anyway! There's the boneyard up ahead."
~*~
The boneyard was largely free of vegetation save for a few scattered shrubs and cacti. It was primarily a sandy place, a gorge, honestly, which rock ledges up along both sides of the skeletons that littered the base. Dozens of sets of bones stuck out of the ground from massive skeletons bigger than monsters or even some twoleg-nests. While weathered in places, the skeletons were largely in tack save for scratches and pawmarks from generations of SunClan cats climbing up on and playing with them.

"I'm starting to think that Dragon might be real. Would be cool to meet my namesake," She grinned at the other cats, limping hurriedly in her excitement. It hurt like the dickens but she had grown so used to the pain that the apprentice simply winced and bore it.
Deliciatepaw couldn't help but roll her eyes at their silly little kit talk, "Oh please monsters aren't real. These probably aren't even real bones," She announced with her tail held high in the air behind her. She would be a warrior soon and this place didn't scare her in the slightest.
"Who wants to climb the biggest set of bones we can find?!" Dragonpaw announced with a sudden loud whoop! of excitement.
"If they aren't real bones, Delicatepaw, then how do you think they got here?" Vividpaw mewed playfully, not even a hint of malice in her voice. The white-furred she-cat was the peppy type so there wasn't much anyone could say to dampen her mood. On the contrary, it was actually quite contagious, "They don't smell anything like twolegs, so that can't be it. And these were here long before elementals were discovered so it can't be that either. Quite the mystery... unless... they really are the bones of once living creatures!"
~*~
Jetpaw left Delicatepaw to Vividpaw and padded after Dragonpaw, who seemed to be the most chill of the lot of them. He opened his mouth to make some comment about the bones; however, before he could say anything, Dragonpaw's whoop of excitement filled the air and his ears flicked back. She wanted to climb them with a paw like hers!? She reminded him of his older siblings back in SwiftClan... always trying to do things their bodies weren't primed to do.
Honestly, he found that quality admirable and, in this specific case, attractive.
But...
He wasn't eager to climb up high after what he'd seen happen to Melonkit all those moons ago.
"How about we just climb some of the lower ones, at least at first?" He suggested, motioning toward one that was right up against a ledge and easy to access. It was greatly warn compared to the taller ones, clearly a favorite of SunClan apprentices, "That looks like just as much fun... probably."

She rolled her eyes at the peppy she-cat. For some reason it irritated her and made her eager to bicker. She should just take the high ground and leave her to play her silly little games but the Siamese she-cat couldn't leave well enough alone. "Whatever, I'm sure you're just making up stories," She sighed, comfortable with ruining the mood.
--
"You're right, let's conquer this one first! You bet I'm going to climb the tallest one next though!" What Jetpaw didn't know was she was preparing for a major surgery - one she may not wake up from. It made her bolder and more eager to try something new and exciting.
"Let's be careful, okay?" She smiled at him before gathering all her strength in her back legs and leaping with a strange ease onto the small bones. "Wow, that was fun! Hurry up and get up here, Jetpaw!"
Jetpaw couldn't help but tremble slightly as flashbacks of his childhood friend become consuming his thoughts. The two of them had been playing a game that wasn't so different then this one when Melonkit fell and forever lost the use of his hind legs.
But he couldn't let himself be outdone by Dragonpaw much less appear weak in front of her.
"Give me some room, okay?" He called out before leaping after her. The red-furred tom overshot the jump slightly but managed to land successfully, his reflexes doing most of the work. All Jetpaw could think about now was how they would get down from here, but he didn't voice it.
".... Err, now what?"
~*~
"Deliciatepaw," Vividpaw prodded with even more fervor than she'd had previously, "I would never lie to you! That's really the honest-to-Sun-God legend. You can ask my mom, even."

"Now we enjoy our victory, silly! Once we're on the biggest one we can declare ourselves king and queen of the boneyard!" She grinned with excitement. The apprentice was feeling a little bit sore but was more excited than anything else. It was rare that others wanted to spend time with her and Jetpaw was hesitant, and maybe a little glum, but fun to be around anyways.
--
She rolled her eyes "Okay, mommy can save you there." Deliciatepaw only really got along with one of her moms so Vividpaw had hit a bit of sore spot there. It was stupid and she knew it, but the she-cat couldn't help it. It was just so much easier to push than to give in.
"... Okay," Jetpaw was really not game for climbing further, but Dragonpaw's eagerness to continue made him give it. To be fair, he was having fun, too, he just wished that the fun wasn't so high up, "Lead the way, Boneyard Queen. I won't try to stop you anymore..."
... But I'll be sure to stick close if you lose your balance.
~*~
Vividpaw could tell that something was off, but decided not to push anymore for much the same reasons as Deliciatepaw. Maybe a change of topic would do them both some good, "Anyways... you wanna join Dragonpaw and Jetpaw as they climb? Or something else sound more fun?"

"Boneyard Queen... I like that one. Makes me feel like a kit just rolling in the dirt." She practically cackled before looking down, pondering the best way. "I guess I could slide..." She mumbled and before she knew it she was sliding down the bone - butt first. "Here I goooooooo!" She shouted with a scream, hitting the ground with a loud plunk. "hahahaa I made it!" It was exhilarating but she was a little breathless and her paw was a bit sore. "Are you coming?" She peered up at Jetpaw.
--
Deliciatepaw glanced at the other two apprentices with a sense of annoyance, "Nah, that looks like it'll ruin my pain," She gave herself a once over to make sure the intricate designs were still in place. They improved each day and she felt quite proud of them. It had come to be one of the things she loved to do most. "I thought we were patrolling... but I guess it doesn't hurt to get sidetracked for a bit."
Jetpaw reached for Dragonpaw as she fell, not realizing it was intentional until he saw the look of joy on her face. He tried to stop himself, but the shock of it all caused him to lose his balance and go down the bone-slide immediately after her... his ginger fur standing on end and an expression that could only be described as panic on his face. When he came to the end of the slide, he couldn't control himself to stop, so he ended up falling right on top of Dragonpaw with a startled yowl.
~*~
Vividpaw winced as Jetpaw yowled, glanced over at him, let out a mrrow of laughter, then turned her attention back to Deliciatepaw.
"Sometimes you've got to risk ruining your paint if you want to have any fun," She replied before abandoning the other apprentice and scrambling up the skeleton to the same spot that Dragonpaw and Jetpaw had been moments before. Once at the top, she waved her tail at the other she-cat and yelled, " Come on, the view's so cool from up here!"

Startled, her yowls mixed with his and then ended in a fit of giggles as she tried to untangle their limbs. "Are you okay? I don't think you meant to fall. But down you went anyways~" She sang the last bit with a giggle. Jeeze was he all limbs? FInally she untangled them and then lay on the ground breathless. "This is so much fun, I'm going to miss doing things like this." She sighed, grinned over at him with her face half squished into the ground.
Deliciatepaw hesitated and carefully climbed up, giving a small huff of annoyance when her paint smudged. She'd just have to go home and paint it better than before. Once up top she looked around, giving a satisfied sigh. The view was actually pretty nice. "Not bad for a dirt hole." Was what she said. "I don't know if I'd call it cool," She glanced down at the two fools rolling around on the ground. So immature.
