Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Well, I don't really know," her words were broken up, spaced with huffs as she tried to get the plank to budge before giving up. She'd never been particularly strong—maybe the board wasn't as strong as it seemed—though she had the build of a warrior, heavyset, broad shoulders, it was mostly softness. If she payed more attention, gave a bit more of a damn during her training, maybe she'd be of some use. Sunfreckle stood up, backing away from the floorboard, looked around for something they could jam in there. The shack didn't offer much, the blankets certainly wouldn't work, she assumed the sticks would be too flimsy, whatever knick-knacks that were left probably wouldn't be of much use. She was going to suggest that perhaps they should give up, but she didn't want to see Rhiannon's excitement falter, her grin fall.
She hummed in thought, "We can. . ." She glanced around again, "We can figure something out," she said hopefully, because she'd never been good at problem solving. Maybe it was best she didn't become a medicine cat then, she mused dryly.
"We can, like, find a big stick or something—I don't really see anything in here," she gave a questioning look towards Rhiannon, hoping her question got across; 'do you?' Maybe they'd find something more interesting along the way, forget the shack and it's lose floorboards and it's weird human junk. "You can find some branches just past the beach, up the slope and bit further, there's bound to be some strong enough," it would be far enough into Summerclan territory to be noticeable, and she immediately felt stupid for even suggesting it, because obviously she would get caught and she'd be done for. Or she was just being stupid again, worrying about things that wouldn't happen and convincing herself they might, on the off-chance that everything would go wrong.
"Might be a bit off course, but," she shrugged, peeking briefly at the shelves on the wall for something else useful.

Rhiannon looked around, before her eyes brightened. "How about those rods over there?" she exclaimed, glancing at the fishing poles they had seen earlier. They didn't seem like the studiest things...but why not? It was worth a try, right? "Come on, I'm sure we'll figure it out."
The she-cat grasped one of the rods with her teeth, yanking until it crashed to the ground. She turned to Sunfreckle with a wry grin, before dragging the large stick towards the plank. "Do you think it'll work?" she wondered out loud, trying to maneuver it under the crack, only barely making it moments later, slipping the pointy side into the crack.
"Okay, so how do we do this?" she asked, looking up to Sunfreckle. Would this even work? It did look a little brittle...
"Oh—Yeah. They seem fine," she tilted her head, as if studying them. Stupid of her to suggest anything else, really, to make mountains out of molehills. "What if we put like, two at a time, you think it'll hold better?" She jumped to get a second one, dragging it over beside the first and trying to line it up. The other end of it would work best—it got thinner the taller it stood, it seemed—but she was pretty sure it wouldn't fit anyway.
Do you think it'll work? She gave her the most confident look she could muster, "Of course, of course." It probably wouldn't, she knew, because not a lot seemed to work out (think positively), unless they had a miraculous stroke of luck or something. She could tell Rhiannon was uncertain too, though more hopeful, and maybe Sunfreckle was a little—just a little—jealous of that, because it seemed she hadn't waivered much even as nothing had yet come of their little adventure. Perhaps she wasn't as used to so much company as she thought.
She pressed down on the end, hardly putting much pressure, looking to see if the plank moved. "It'll work, trust me," she put more pressure, "and if it doesn't, I'm sure we can think of something else." Rhiannon could, because she seemed to have all the good ideas here, not that she minded, to be honest she quite liked hearing them. She gave a rather hard push, a slight aggressiveness to it (think positively). She could hear the thunk of it hitting the board, but she wasn't sure if it had moved it enough to get under there.
"Maybe you should try to lift the plank as well?" She stopped for a moment, "I think it might be working, gosh, you are so smart." She gushed.

Rhiannon seemed unaware of the fact that she was dominating this whole adventure; having spent most of her time with that wishy-washy brother of hers it shouldn't have been a surprise that she often spearheaded any project or adventure. Still, she gave Sunfreckle a nod of appreciation. "I think that might solve the snapping problem," she nodded thoughtfully, turning to the she-cat with a smile.
She had tried to wiggle the fishing rod into the cracks, but it was harder than she thought. It almost seemed hopeless, but suddenly, Sunfreckle had pushed a little harder, and a thump meant that it had hit something, at least.
"I'll try," she nodded at Sunfreckle's suggestion, as she tried to climb onto the fishing rod that had slipped underneath, to yank the rest of it out. It didn't seem to work; the rod was just a little too flimsy...her paws weren't exactly built for pulling planks up either...
"Do you think we could dig under this shack and find it?" she wondered out loud, "or should we try maybe....both of us yanking at the plank?"
"Are you a good digger?" She wasn't much of one herself, and maybe she didn't know what she was talking about, but the sand underneath the shack seemed terrible for digging. Loose, unstable, closer to the consistency of water than dirt. Or should we try maybe....both of us yanking at the plank? "Oh — that sounds like a good idea. Why didn't we try that before." The last part was mostly directed at herself, a mutter as she made her way to the plank. She eyed it for a moment.
"Maybe you could push up," a hum edged her words, and the board creaked as she stepped on it again, hearing the familiar thump, "and I could pull. And then it should work." She glanced towards Rhiannon, giving her a hopeful smile. As much as she was sick of this stupid, old wood, and this stupid, creepy shack, she couldn't say she wasn't enjoying her time with the she-cat.
Rhiannon chuckled. "Never really had much use for digging," she admitted, "so I guess I'm not so sure." She had grown up in the moors where everything was rocky and gravelly; there wasn't much room to dig out there, and even less reason to do so. Forest cats had such different habits, she thought. Still, Sunfreckle seemed to have an idea, and after listening, Rhiannon nodded.
"Okay sounds good," she spoke, preparing to do exactly that. She looked towards the other she-cat, before nodding. "One...two...three!" she shouted, as she began to push it up. She could hear a creak as they worked in tandem, and after struggling for a bit, it seemed to work, because a crack could be heard as a nail was yanked out along with the wood, the plank splintering a little before coming loose.
"We did it!" she cheered, her eyes shining brightly like a magpie having spotted its treasure. "What do you see?"
Hurriedly, she peered into the hole. It was a dent in the sand, dark with the gloom of the shack, and in the center she was able to fish out a weird twoleg accessory. Glistening gold, with a pale white face and two little sticks that seemed to be pointing at other smaller sticks. It's strap was jagged, like a large puzzle connected together to keep the thing stable. She slid it over to Rhiannon.
"Do you know what this is?" She looked at it a little closer, tilted her head, then sat up again. "It's shiny though — do you think it's the treasure?" The biggest stick was pointing to the right, directly towards the sea and, by extension, the old dock. "Hm, or maybe it's a clue. . .?" Her voice trailed off in question. The glass on it's face was crackled, and the gold was rusting, speaking of it's age. There was something vaguely familiar about it, too, and it took her a long moment to remember she had seen a similar thing before. She looked towards the photograph.
"Look — this human has something similar," she pointed to where the thing wrapped around his wrist, like a shimmering snake.
(looked at this beach treasure hunting adventure and thought: hmm, yes... lets direct it towards a weird, somewhat unrelated plot hmm yes)

Rhiannon blinked at the item, her brow furrowed in thought. Whatever it was, it certainly was shiny, the kind of thing that she had seen plenty in human nests, and yet it looked unfamiliar at the same time. She had never seen this item in her life, but whatever it was, it reminded her of an adventure she had gone on with a bengal cat, searching through human nests for their tarnished gold and silvers, what she learned to be regarded as 'antiques.'
"I'm not sure," she replied, squinting at it, giving it a sniff, "it's either treasure or some sort of clue...do you think it's a puzzle maybe? Like something we're supposed to solve to you know, find where the treasure is?" Whatever it was, they were taking it along with them, that was for sure.
She peered at the image again. "Do you think we should take a look at where the humans hang out? You know, to figure out what this actually is?"
(I was like is this.....a pocket watch or a compass....... LMFAO)
