The apprentices had been gathered in the scar in order to show off the skills they had been learning in their training to the High Priestess and Priestess Promised. With the new mentoring system, it was important for them to keep tabs on the apprentice's progress. Some of the apprentices were still in their first moon of training, but this little game would allow the apprentices to show off their skills. Littlestar moved forward a deep bowl "put your paw inside and pull out one of the grass blades within" she instructed (you apprentice will be given a number and rng the challenges based on who replies to the thread first)
Watermelonpaw was one of the oldest apprentice's present. His promotion was imminent or, at least, it should be given his age, but this test would determine everything, wouldn't it? Unlike most of the other apprentice's he had never changed his mentor, having stayed comfortably under Ferventprayer's tutelage since day one.
He didn't hesitate to pull out the sliver of grass first and then got out of the way, quietly waiting for the next directions.

Watermelonpaw really was starting to look like Bloodycrow. Soaringlight hadn't thought they resembled each other so much when the tom was younger but, as he'd aged, he'd really grown into the size and shape of his tyrant father, from the way his fur was long and coarse to the slant of his eyes and even the way he styled his paint. Soaringlight herself couldn't really care less but she knew other cats in SunClan would, which made her feel a little sorry for the sweet-hearted young tom who had to live in the shadow cast by his gather's misdeeds.
She turned her head back to Littlestar, watching to see who would take the next tendril.

With an air of confidence about her, Deliciatepaw strolled forward and pulled out a blade of grass, moving away to sit down and wait. She watched the other apprentices curiously but didn't speak.
Wisteriapaw was next and he pulled the grass blade without a second thought. Whatever was fine with him even though he was a new apprentice.

Wickedpaw walked right on up to everyone, her blue and green eye glancing at everyone who was already there. The brown and white tabby she cat walked right on up tp her brother Wisteriapaw getting right into his space. She had a goofy grin and shouldered him hard in her gesture of affection. "Heyo bro! Whatcha doing there, annihilating that blade of grass? If you are bored while we wait we can wrestle...unless you are afraid to lose. I could understand that of course, as I was always the one who won those matches." uniqcrim

Succubuspaw actually didn't pay attention to why she was supposed to be here. As such, the she-cat was mostly just staring at her claws, looking rather bored and not particularly listening to anything anyone said.
After having padded up and sat at the outskirts of the group, observing the others that had arrived and were similarly listening to Littlestar's instruction, his blue gaze landed on the bowl and he swallowed uneasily. What exactly awaited him, once he did what he was told? Part of him wanted to rebel. There was still a large side to him that longed to be elsewhere; to experience new things, meet new people, discover new cultures. What if, after whatever this was, he couldn't do that anymore?
The silver tom blinked and his ears slightly flattened to his head. When was it supposed to be his turn? Was it a fight to get the best blade of grass? Was she expecting conflict or bloodshed? Or were they supposed to each take turns and keep it civilized? Silverpaw figured, either way, he'd keep to the back and wait until everyone else had pulled theirs.

Watermelonpaw(Jadie) versus Silverpaw(ѕнαdow✩) Succubuspaw(Honeystorm) versus Wickedpaw(ashestoashes) Delicatepaw(uniqcrim) versus Welkinpaw(seeker) ---------------------------------------------------------- Littlstarr had the apprentices reveal the grass that they had chosen. Pairing them off based upon the length that they drew to make it fair "So the rules are simple. See the circles drawn in the sand? Your job is to be last on inside of your circle, and to force your opponent outside of the arena. The winners of this first round will then get to compete again with the three winners all inside of the circle" a little arena had been prepared for each of the matches, three circles clearly drawn out "Sheathed claws, and avoid major injures. Go!"

Succubuspaw let out a whine, glancing at Wickedpaw and looking the she-cat up and down with a groan. "Do we haaaave to?" She asked, clearly not interested.

"No you always have a choice" The High Priestess shrugged "This is a chance for you to show off your skills. If you want to remain an apprentice for another cycle, than by all means forfeit the match"

"Do I care?" Succubuspaw sassed back, pawing at her ear. She didn't, of course, then say she was gonna forfeit. She'd decide depending on Wickedpaw's reaction. Maybe. Unless she got tired of waiting.
"That's a pretty small circle," Watermelonpaw remarked as he shot Silverpaw a sort of sorry expression. While he was certainly no giant, the red-and-white apprentice was nearly full grown and a rather large cat, especially compared to his younger sparring partner. The odds on him winning were greatly in his favor, "But I guess we will make it work."
He padded into the circle and tried to give Silverpaw as much room as possible on the other half. While he waited for his opponent he shot a bit of a glare at Succubuspaw and couldn't help but say, "I think you're being difficult for the sake of being difficult, Succubuspaw. This is pretty standard training." ѕнαdow✩Honeystorm

"Well it's boring." Succubuspaw whined. "You'd think she could come up with something a little bit original, y'know?" Apparently she didn't have the self preservation to particularly care that she was insulting the Priestess to her face.

Littlestar struggled "Don't worry, this is only the first of the days activities". She didn't really care what the apprentice thought, so long as she cooperated and did the task required of them.

Deliciatepaw eyed her opponent, appraising Welkinpaw thoughtfully.. They didn't seem to have much to offer, at least in her eyes. "Well, better get this show on the road," She muttered, hissing at the other apprentice. She may not be big but she was fierce and she was going to use that to her advantage here.
Silverpaw turned his head and regarded the apprentice with a quirk of his brow, curious as to how – or perhaps why – his silent plea to be left alone was heeded by someone who, as far as he was aware, wasn’t a mind reader. He nodded to him silently, but found himself drawn into the conversation with Succubuspaw, more out of an insatiable curiosity than anything. He blinked and waited for the apprentice’s response.
