Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was a beautiful summer day. There was a bright blue sky with fluffy clouds, fresh green grass sparkling with dew, and colorful flowers blooming everywhere Orion looked as he made an afternoon stroll through the park. It wasn't a usual sight for cats to be out in the green area during the daytime, but the old blue collar hanging from his neck gave the loner a bit more leeway with the normally cat-weary twolegs. Some of the other loners and rouges in the twolegplace gave him a hard time for still wearing it, but Orion never had the heart to take it off. That collar meant home, literally; if a twoleg managed to catch him, they'd read the strange runes on the collar and take him straight to his old twolegs... and to his mother and father. No matter how far he went, he'd always be able to go back home to them. Not that he'd ever go that far away to begin with.
"HI STRANGER!" Ever friendly Starbucks had no problem walking right up to Orion as if they'd been best friends for years. Of course, she knew he was a strange, she'd declared as much, but she demonstrated a total lack a fear that was textbook kittypet, "I haven't seen you around here before! Did you just move in? Also, do you want to play field hockey or something?"
Stabucks was a massive cat, tall enough to pass as a dog from a distance with enough fluff to make a few pillows at least, but she wasn't even the slightest intimidating. No, she had this ridiculously childish energy about her, the kind that require a sense of innocence and naïveté. She was treating Orion as a dear friend because she thought he was doing the same.
The golden tabby tom faltered in his step briefly out of surprise when Starbucks slid right next to him, but quickly recovered when it became obvious how friendly this she-cat was, continuing in his stride as if she'd been walking alongside him the entire time. "Nice to meet you," he meowed with a polite, though slightly bemused, smile. "Did I just move in?" He replied with a small chuckle. "I should be asking you the same thing; I've lived in this area my entire life. The name's Orion, I come to this park a lot with my brother Cygnus. Would you be interested in joining me in my walk? Or perhaps you'd be up for a swim in the pond, since the day's so nice?"
"Oh I'd love to!" She replied to both questions at once without fully processing them. Why both think them through when she knew either way she'd be prone to forget them? Oh, what a scourge short term memory was, but at least Starbucks was the type who was eternally happy no matter what she was doing, "And, well, yes I guess I did kind of just now recently move in. Like... a few weeks ago, maybe? But I've been wandering around here a lot since I figured out how to open the door. My names Starbucks and I used to be a forest cat until I got trapped in one of those big green cave things full of food and other goodies."
"Ah, got caught by the twolegs, huh?" Orion nodded in understanding, subtly adjusting the pair's course so that they were walking towards one of the park's largest ponds. Not the biggest one, where all of the twolegs were swimming or sitting in water monsters, but his personal favorite; a natural pond covered in lilypads and full of delicious fish. "You mentioned the forest; were you from one of the clans, then? My father used to be a clan cat; a Deputy even."
"WOW a deputy!? That's a big deal!" Starbucks's evergreen eyes shined bright with excitement at the thought and fluffed out her chest a little bit, "My mom was a Witch! She spent a lot of time in prison but eventually worked her way up, or something like that, she didn't like to tell me stories so I heard it all from gossip and stuff. Anyways, I was born in WinterClan but lived in SunClan for a little bit and then the League and now I'm a kittypet. Were you clanborn? Which Clan?"
Orion's ears perked up slightly at the mention of Starbucks' mother being a Winterclan Witch; while he'd never been to or met a Winterclan cat before, he'd certainly heard a lot about them. "You've certainly been a lot of interesting places!" He remarked, almost jealous about all of insider knowledge his friend had about the clans. "I was born a kittypet, but my father is half-Summerclan and half-Waterclan. He had been a Deputy of Waterclan seasons before its destruction, and later on his brother, my uncle, became Waterclan's last-ever leader. You might've heard of my uncle; Chimerastar, founder of Swiftclan?"
While Starbucks never forgot a the name of cat she met face to face, since she'd never seen Chimerastar in person, meaning his very existence escaped her. Her memory was sharp and dull at the same time depending entirely on the subject she was trying to recall.
"But he sounds important! It's not every day a Clan is just created. There's all kinds of requirements that have to be met before something like that happens, it's so complicated," She replied, green eyes cast upward, "You sure know a lot of important cats. Do any of them ever come visit you?"
It took a lot more willpower than Orion expected to keep from laughing at Starbucks' cheerful ignorance to probably one of the most well-known cats in the clans. Though perhaps it was a good thing that she'd never met Chim; his uncle probably wouldn't be able to stand her for longer than five seconds...not an insult to Starbucks, of course. His uncle couldn't stand most cats for longer than five seconds. "I do come from a very big clan family," he admitted. "Some of them come to visit us occasionally, but there really hasn't been a big reunion with everyone since I was a little kit. Mostly it's just my parents, my brother, and I. What about you? You said your mom was a Witch; that's kinda like a Medicine Cat, right?"
