Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The time of day was night far after many warriors had been done with their duties. Whether they were hoping to find romance, flings, someone to have kits with, or are already disappointed by the turn out and want to go home the two were there and now it was time for conversations to fly. They only had 10 minutes and three partners to choose from so it’s best to ask and answer all the right questions to get to know the other.
Each speed round had a separate area for the two cats to talk. This particular speed round was located near a two-leg place, but just far enough to feel safe. The park felt different than the forest, manicured green lawns that never passed a paw in height. There were small heavenly made streams that seemed to be purposely made for beauty. Perhaps the best part of the location was the koi fish that ran along the stream.
"Wow," Garsparkling murmured, staring at the water with misty eyes. The neat streams were slow and gentle, the fish within them beautiful, but he couldn't help thinking: "Brindlemist would have loved it here."
He might have signed up for this date, but it was clear his mind was still somewhere else. he had only recently lost his wife, less than a moon ago, and her loss still troubled him deeply... forcing another cat to contend with his grief wasn't very fair but here he was, dating anyway. Even without the burden of his memories, Garsparkling wasn't much of a catch: his coat was a strange combination of yellow and gray, his eyes small and beady, his muzzle far too long and bumpy, and even he was speaking normally his voice immediately suggested he was going to be a pain in the tail to deal with.
"So," he cleared his throat, sniffing - that was how he meant Brindlemist the first time when he was sick... don't focus on that! - and turned to look back at Locketwhisper. "Do you like fish? I haven't had any in moons. The water in WinterClan is too old for fishing, and I'm not getting frostbite from freezing my paws under the ice."

"I could see that." said Locketwhisper with a surprisingly deep voice. "I do like fish as a matter of fact. If you would like I could try to catch you one or if you wish to do it together that is fine as well. I'm not too picky either way." The dark tom looked at Garsparkling and could tell that this other tom was anything but happy. He couldn't quiet pinpoint what was wrong with him but he seemed sad... almost absent minded at times. So the scout thought that perhaps it would be best to try to either distract him or attempt to make him feel somewhat better. Which was hard for him to do since he didn't much interact with a lot of cats in general. This...was probably going to be awkward. He just didn't like seeing Garsparkling so broken like he seemed to be. However he would not act like this cat needed pity which would only make Garsparkling feel worse (this he knew from his own experience.) Just be as polite and as non awkward as he could make it.
Should they do it together? He had no idea what he was doing; he must be pretty bad at it. That thought really didn't stop Garsparkling. If he made a fool of himself, well, it was just another Tuesday.
"Yeah, let's do it together," he agreed, "I'll watch you first I guess. Are you sure it isn't too cold? WinterClan rivers will freeze your tongue off. You'd have to be insane to jump into them... I only know of one cat that went for a swim willingly." Garsparkling smiled tearfully at the memory of his sister-in-law and his best friend's competition. He had barely known them back then, but they sure were a wild match. He shook his head, letting that memory distract him from his loss, and for a minute the tom looked more stable.

"I don't mind the cold really, who knows maybe I'd do well in Winterclan." Locketwhisper gave a small chuckle before adding. "Sure, I don't mind going first. We will see who catches more in the end." With that the dark tom dove after the fish going head and paws first. At first he was worried he scared off the fish with his movement but found that...they were some of the dumbest fish he had ever crossed. Almost reminded him of the other place he had been to recently...
Looking around he saw something and snatched at it, feeling it touch his paw as he whacked the thing onto dry land. He heard it hit the land above and he got out looking soaked dripping with water.
(You know what I'll let you decide if Locketwhisper looked cool and caught a fish or if the poor lad caught something else entirely XD)
Garsparkling blinked, startled to see the tom move so quickly to strike the fish. There was more speed and power inside of him than he realized. He crept closer to the edge of the water, peering in to see if he caught the fish, then jerked back when water splashed his way. He was too slow-- no sooner had he started to pull his head back than a koi came flying out of the water and slammed straight into his throat, knocking the WinterClan warrior flat out on the ground.
"Eurghh," was the unintelligible sound he managed to make.

(Perfect)
Locketwhisper turned around to see the fish whap the Winterclan cat in the throat as he fell to the ground. Greeaaaat. "Oh I am so sorry about that!" The tom rushed over to help Gasparkling get back onto his paws but couldn't help feeling like he had almost done it. He did get a fish but it ended up trying to take the other tom down with it. All he wanted to do was to try to distract the cat making him feel better. Well one of the two things happened.
He coughed, trying his best to answer, but it was hard to summon words. Garsparkling rose and staggered into Locketwhisper, shoving him to the ground. He stood over him panting, then finally said:
"I.............. am going to beat you with that fish."
And then he grinned, like it was a really funny joke.

Locketwhisper felt himself fall to the floor as Garsparkling finally got himself back to normal. Hearing him say he was going to beat the tom with the fish was actually kind of funny to the Swiftclan cat and couldn't help but laugh at it. Technically he did accidently smack Garsparkling with the fish. "Go on ahead, after all I did start the fish fight." The dark tom laughed away at how silly this all must have looked.
