News & Updates
11.06.2022 The site has been transformed into an archive. Thank you for all the memories here!
Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Special Thanks to Atomheart, Complacentdevil, Dot, Flurryofstars, Honeystorm, Lavellan, Lore, Seeker, Strawberrycupid, and Uniqcrim for making the first ever Pride Month on Classic possible!
LGBTQ+ HISTORY ON CLASSIC
Classic has for a long time always allowed LGBTQ+ characters, however allowing queer characters came with strings. The clan leader was the one who would decide if LGBTQ+ characters would be allowed in their clan or not. Meaning that one leader could allow LGBTQ+ characters into their clan, but if a new leader came along they could kick an existing LGBTQ+ character out of the clan. The restriction felt especially condescending by the way it was laid out on the page. Clans could checkmark if they allowed LGBTQ+ cats and right below it was if clans allowed apprentices to become pregnant, as though both questions were meant to be “scandalous.”
Despite leaders being able to opt out of having LGBTQ+ characters in their clans many did not. Instead throughout time almost every leader had always allowed a queer community of cats in their clans. The more time went by it seemed that next to no one forbid having LGBTQ+ characters.
Throughout the years there were many mod discussions about allowing LGBTQ+ characters, but it was always outvoted. That is until America legalized gay marriage, which led to deleting the option to forbid LGBTQ+ characters from clans. Being able to roleplay a queer character was no longer a privilege, but a right to every member of Classic.
This June we celebrate our queer community of members and characters, as well as the growth our website has lived through.
