"I will definitely keep that in mind," the apprentice said looking serious for a second before going back to his usual goofy self. "Wow the mountains are looking nice today...or perhaps they were always nice and I just never paid good enough attention to them like I am right now. Oh speaking of attention got any good last minute advice for me catching a rabbit? I came so close last time and I have no clue what it was exactly I messed up on." Just as quickly as he said it Swiftpaw looked around noticing as snow fell around them once again. It shouldn't be something exciting considering he lived in the snow, but whenever new snow fell he always got that same feeling like it was the first time.
The wind shifted, and bringing with it a terrifying scent. A bear was nearby and from the strength of the scent they were close. It was too close to escape its path and Polarblast was practically frozen at the realization. He turned, hissing his words to his student and grandson. “Get back to camp! Now!” But it was too late, the bear was stepping before them now.

"Wha- whats wrong-" before he had a chance to finish his sentence he saw what was coming up at them. The tom felt his fur stand on end making him feel even more fluffier than usual. Standing his ground though the young tom gave a loud growl. "I can't leave you out here all alone to this monstrosity. I know you are strong but it can still kill you! I want to stay and fight or leave with you!"
The bear didn’t give them a chance. It saw a threat in Swiftpaw as the young kit prepared to fight, and so chose to make the first move. Racing towards them, pounding paws unsettling frozen ice and snow, it took a swipe at them when close enough. It was by luck that Polarblast knocked the student out of the tackling them both into a snowy patch. Pushing Swiftpaw to his feet, he instructed, “run! Run for the caves!” Any cave would do, but the one that lead into camp would be the best option. The entrance was too narrow for the bear, but any other cave would offer at least some protection. Anything was better than out in the open next to the edge of the Jagged Falls.

Swiftpaw was shocked for merely a few moments before running towards the first cave he was. He wasn't even thinking...it was like his feet were moving on their own. It was a moment that he would later come to realize was an out of body experience. His body was going by its own accordance while he was too busy watching everything around him.
Polarblast never had a chance. Upon raising to his paws and practically shoving Swiftpaw away, the bear had turned its attention in the warrior. He was struck before he could move, momentum sending him towards the Jagged Falls. The bear had swiped at the first with its left paw but now hit Polarblast with its right, and with momentum and slick ice, it was enough to send the warrior near the edge. By a small grace, he’d managed to snag his claws into a bit of stone, but it was barley enough and his back paws scrambled to find purchase on the other side of the falls. Half his body dangled over the edge, water sprayed upon his back and soaking him to the bone quickly. The bear turned its sights on the running cat, but Polarblast called out, pulling its attention back on him. He’d promised Lord Borealis above he’d keep that kit safe, and he’d do just that. “Over there ugly!” The bear turned, stepping closer to the falls, it’s paws finding an icy patch as well and scrambling to right it’s self. This close to the edge, the ice was thicker, sicker, and more dangerous than any other area around. The bear stumbled, scrambled and fell ive r the edge, knocking Polarblast over with it. Their bodies disappeared over the side and into the roaring falls.
