So anything in particular you have planned for Swiftpaw or what to see them do? ashestoashes
Polarblast knew Nightfreeze wasn’t happy about him mentoring one of her kits. And knew because of that, that this wasn’t going to go well. He was sure that his daughter had told Swiftpaw to just not show up to training at all, probably that Nightfreeze would teach the kit all that they needed to know. Or maybe Nightfreeze was trying to get Wintrystar to change Swiftpaw’s mentor. Either way, he was sitting at the entrance to the camp’s cavern waiting for Swiftpaw to arrive and maybe begin training.

(Good question, maybe he finally sneaks out to meet Polarblast? Like he doesn't understand why his mother won't let him see his mentor)
The fluffy orange and white apprentice came barreling outside just past the entrance having not notice his mentor was sitting waiting for him. On all fours slightly splayed out he looked this way and that way curious on what his first lesson would be. He somehow got lucky escaping his mother's clutches. As soon as the moment came he snuck out then ran like crazy. Unfortunately that left him uncertain on even who his mentor was. Still he wouldn't let that get him down. He was determined to find this cat.
Polarblast’s eyes widened in shock, surprise, and disbelief. He honestly hadn’t expected Swiftpaw to show up at all. The tom only recognized the kit from the brief moment he met his grandchildren and then form at the ceremonies when Wintrystar announced he’d bet the mentor to one of them. He’d paid close attention when his grandchildren were promoted, trying to remember who was who and who their mentors were. If Nightfreeze didn’t want him in her life, maybe her kits would. “Swiftpaw?” He was hesitant to speak up, sure Nightfreeze would be barreling down on them any moment now. Luckily for them, she was out in a patrol and the only ones aware that Swiftpaw was meeting with Polarblast was the two of them, maybe Snowflurry, and the other kits of the litter.

Hearing his name being spoken caused the tom to look around finding Polarblast there. "Yup that's a-meee! I'm Swiftpaw!" The orange and white tom gave a rather unintentional goofy grin but still seemed extremely focused in on Polarblast. "So you are my mentor? AWESOME! You seem so tough and strong looking. Whatcha got planned for me? I imagine you have a lot of fun things planned like hunting or maybe battle tactics or even ways on taking down predators three times the size of yourself. I am totally ready for whatever you have in store!" The apprentice puffed up his chest in excited confidence.
Polarblast was nearly taken back by the enthusiasm of the kit. Nightfreeze had always seemed like a quiet cat, so to see that one of her kits was this...bright. It was nearly overwhelming to say the least, especially since Polarblast himself is a more quiet cat and one to keep to himself, even if he's always been an average talker and not so stand back. "I..I thought we'd start with a walk through the territory and end with some hunting training." Originally he was going to end it with battle training, but better to get the cat used to the hunter's crouch first, and maybe, maybe it'd wear the kit out too. Already, the warrior was feeling exhausted dealing with someone so active and hyper.

"Sounds like a plan teach! I'm totally ready to head out when you are ready!" And with that Swiftpaw bounded ahead with no particular direction in mind. For such a big cat he was very quick on his paws. Just then he suddenly stopped in where he was running pointing at something up ahead. "Wow look at that! Is that a rabbit? Its so HUGE! I'm totally going to catch it. I can DO IT!" He then ran at the rabbit who saw a flash of orange fur closing in upon it. Luckily for the rabbit Switfpaw had zero experience with hunting and was able to run away with easy doing a zig zag pattern. Swiftpaw came to a skidding halt looking down casted for only a moment before seeing his mentor in the far off distance. "How did you get so far away? Wait weren't we about to do something?" He cocked his head to the side in a curious manner.
Polarblast nearly snatched Swiftpaw by the scruff but just missed as the tom hurried off after the rabbit that was unlucky enough to wander past them just as they exited the camp. With a sigh, he followed after the bright kit, shaking his head and praying for strength from the God of Light. Lord Borealis, please give me strength on this training session and all those to come, he thought with his eyes gazing at the sky above. Polarblast nudged the student once he was next to him, "come on, we'll start in this direction and work our way back. Stay close now, it's not safe out here."

"Oh okay, can do! I'll follow where you go teach." With that Swiftpaw followed Polarblast wherever it was he was planning on taking them. They were both quiet for a time, rather if it was for a short or long time its hard to say but the apprentice easily broke the silence. "Sooo where are we heading? Is it somewhere with a lot open fields? Or maybe trees? Or maybe mounds and mounds of snow...okay well that one is everywhere so forget I mentioned the last part. But I am sooo curious with everything you have planned. Whatever it is I know I'll be the best and blow your mind with my amazing skills."
Polarblast had started down the mountain, hoping to get the more interesting areas out of the way first, and with the new knowledge that his student is short on attention span, to maybe make the return trip a little more relaxed. He could already tell he'd be fishing a drowning kit out of the Sapphire Springs when they made their way towards it. May need to even break up exploring the territory into multiple days just to cover it all and get the information to absorb into Swiftpaw's head. "We're heading down. Yes, there are more trees and other vegetation and animals. Animals, you won't be chasing. We're hunting just yet as we need to familiarize ourselves with the territory first. Maybe, if we learn an area well, we can give it a try." Definitely splitting territory learning up into multiple days. "Now, pay attention, because you'll be leading us back later." It was a technique he'd done successfully with his previous students. Take them out hunting, exploring the territory first, and then made them lead him back to camp. It'd worked then, and he was hoping it worked now and that they wouldn't end up lost later.

Swiftpaw tried his hardest to remember where they were going, truly he was however he was a tom that tend to get distracted by the coolest things. There in fact a lot of cool things around them. The tom prayed that he would get them back home without problem but for now he wasn't too worried about it. Instead he was absorbed into just the wonders that were in front of them. Seeing so much territory, animals, plants....everything. "Ooo what animals are here? What type of plant is that? Where are we within the territory...west of the camp or east? I want to say north actually. Woowie this is so amazing!"
(soo sounds like we're getting lost going home later, I'm down lol poor Polarblast is gonna be begging for a new student just cus his gets so easily distracted the adhd cat lol) ashestoashes
"Many. Some are deadly too and I pray to Lord Borealis we say clear of them. We, the two of us alone, are no match for wolves or bears or even a bird of prey." All predators and all ones Polarblast didn't like facing on a good day, let alone with worrying about protecting his grandchild while defending against the creature. He cringed though on the kit not knowing what direction they were, we'll be lost and out her till tomorrow morning, he thought. "We are southeast from camp, Swiftpaw. Heading towards the Sapphire Springs."

(Yeah I think you can tell Swiftpaw is excited but man he is all over the place. They are so totally going to get lost for sure XD)
"Ohhh that is very helpful! I'll remember that. Oooo Sapphire Springs sounds like a really pretty place, can't wait to see what it's like! I think the both of us could totally take on a bird at the very least. I mean they aren't as big as wolves or bears and I know they are weak in the wings. I don't think you are giving us enough credit." The apprentice was slowly being able to focus on things a little bit better but not by much. He was still so excited about everything around them, and who wouldn't be when it was their first day out of camp? "What was your first time out of camp like? Was it as awesome as this? Did you have a good mentor as cool as you?"
Polarblast frowned, god of light have mercy on them, he prayed. With any hope, they could go to the springs and then back home, with fewer chances of getting lost. Clearly, they'd need to split up learning the territory as it wasn't happening all in one day as he'd hoped. Already, their progress was slow, having deviated from the path a few times. "They could pick you up and carry you into the winds before I even react. Their wings are strong and you are still small." The tom glanced his way, eyes moving from scanning their surroundings as he had been this whole trip. "It was good, he was a strong mentor but not as skilled in hunting as I became."

"Wow so you became waaay better than your mentor? That is so cool! Does that mean you are the strongest cat around then?" Slowly but surly admiration was showing in the young tom's eyes. Does that mean he would surpass his mentor and be even stronger than him?? If he was the strongest does that mean Swiftpaw himself would become the strongest cat around? Woah. The impact of the thought caused the apprentice to balk for just a moment before feeling somewhat cocky about his position.
Polarblast nodded his head, "yes, some cats excel in some areas better than others. My mentor was a decent hunter, but I was better. Dedication and talent help, but don't think training isn't important too. Talent can get you far kit but training will get you further." His eyes were narrowed making it clear he would not allow training sessions to be skipped. "I am one of the better hunters in the clan, but others have me beat in a battle. The sovereign for one, but Rowanstrike as well. Even Cloudywinter can beat me on some days but were more evenly matched. Speed and agility can assist in beating a larger opponent, don't forget that."
Time Skip! To death of Polarblast! Bear attack gone wrong, swiftpaw escapes with his life but Polarblast does not. Swiftpaw is sent back towards camp for safety and can go find the body again later. ashestoashes
Training had been going well. After getting horribly, horribly lost that first day, the two had figured out a rhythm that worked for them. They avoided Nightfreeze on their ways in and out of camp, trained mostly outside for that reasoning, and practically snuck around. But! It was working so who could complain? Probably Nightfreeze but that’s fine. Polarblast was waiting by a tree for his student to arrive. The two had planned an evening training session for today as Polarblast had been on the morning border patrol and Swiftpaw wasn’t able to escape his mother’s grasp to join in on it.

(Dun dun dun duuuunnnn)
Swiftpaw managed to just squeeze away from his mother's claws. It wasn't so much that he didn't love his mother, truly he did but at times found her to be somewhat suffocating. He wasn't a young kit but an apprentice now being able to care for himself...as well as making his own decisions. He liked his mentor but didn't dare breath a word of it to his mother who would have a full grown fit if she found out. He wished he could understand why his mother disliked Polarblast but he himself couldn't see why she tried so hard to hate him.
Wanting to come in on a positive mindset he shook away the thoughts in his head as he met up with the older tom. "I'm finally here, lets get things going! I am totally ready for whatever it is we are doing today!"
Polarblast nodded to his student before starting to walk towards the jagged falls. From there they would travel down and to the far south-west of the land. "We'll do some hunting for today, I'm hoping we find a rabbit or two for you to try and catch." The warrior figured Swiftpaw would have an easy time with the rabbit with his speed and energy levels. If not, then at least he'd be worn out when they got back to camp.

"That sounds great to me! I'll follow your lead Polarblast!" The young tom admired his mentor enjoying what the older cat taught him. How could he not? Polarblast had experience as well as the ability to more or less catch up to him...which was something most cats couldn't do. All of these outings were what Swiftpaw looked forward to the most. He was going to make his clan proud, his family proud, his mentor proud...and most importantly himself with all of the experience he was gaining.
ashestoashesNova (Sorry I was sick and it’s taken me a moment to get back into things! Time to kill some cats!)
Polarblast nodded as he continued to lead them through the mountain. They would go just passed the jagged falls where the warrior had caught whiff of a rabbit earlier in the day while on patrol. Hopefully it was still in the area. He glanced over his shoulder as they neared the Jagged Falls. “Stay away from the edge. It gets slick and the fall will kill you.” There was no surviving the fall from here, anyone who took a tumble off of the Jagged Falls could attest to that. Not a single cat had survived the 20 foot drop or the crushing ice at the bottom.
