Lastingpaw raced ahead of his group, jumping up and batting at the pink things fluttering through the air. He had never seen anything like this back in SunClan. Finally he managed to capture one of them, pinning it down on the ground and sniffing of it "It's a flower?!?!?!" he called out, looking back at the patrol that followed him with wide eyes "When did flowers learn how to fly?!?!?!" he let the petal loose, as the wind scattered it off into the distance "I know you said that SpringClan was going to be weird, but I didn't know that it was going to be THAT weird" he turned trotting back over to the group with a big grin on his face. It was the first time that the young cat had been out of SunClan's territory, other than their one escapade into MoonClan wen he was still a kit.
Jetstar had invited her sister in law to send a ray to SpringClan, and even though it was a bit of an odd choice she had finally settled on Lastingpaw. Most apprentices had to complete their training in SunClan before being allowed to become a ray, but he was a bit of a special circumstance. Not only was he Littlestar's grandson, but Jetstar was his great aunt. He had heard a lot about her from his father and grandfather, and when he found out that there was a ray opening her he had begged and pleaded until Littlestar finally agreed to allow him to complete his training in SpringClan. As a form SunClan cat,she trusted Jetstar to keep him safe and on course.

"You're the weirdo, kid."
The pale tabby kitten tilted her head as she approached the patrol. Softkit knew that she wasn't allowed outside of the camp, she simply didn't care. Who was going to stop her? She was the daughter of the deputy and the strongest warrior in all of Springclan. Not to mention she was pretty sure she was Jetstar's favorite. They'd be so proud of her seeing her bring back an entire enemy patrol! They'd think twice about stepping onto Springclan territory!
"Haven't you ever seen a flower before?" Softkit sneered as she trotted up to Lastingpaw. "You know, a flower? The stuff that grows from the ground and on the trees? They don't fly, they fall from the branches. Everyone knows that... well apparently not everyone."
Sharpkit wasn't far behind her sister. The two of them were practically joined at the hip, despite that they were about as different as different could be. "Maybe they're blind," she suggested, straining on the tips of her toes to peer into Lastingpaw's eyes in order to deduce if maybe he was. She decided, not because he couldn't be blind if he could see in the first place, that his eyes were much too pretty and shiny to not be able to see the very pretty and shiny world! "You don't have to be so mean about it, honey." Sharpkit had a tendency to refer to everyone by the cutest name of all time, made extra sweet by the melodic quality of her voice. She did so because her Daddy always called her Mommy and all of her sisters honey and it made her feel all warm and comforted and safe, so it must make everyone feel that way too, right?
She nudged her sister's side. "Maybe we should take him to our secret spot? Leaf Mountain?"

Softkit flicked her ears as she began to circle Lastingpaw, inspecting him as though she were choosing something off of the fresh-kill pile. Her blue eyes narrowed before she made her way back to her sister, offering a small snort at her comment. Not so much the little nickname, she was used to that. It was more so the comment about not being so mean.
"I'm not being mean." The ginger tabby stated. "I'm being honest. The way mommy is with daddy and everyone else. Besides, mommy would be doing the same thing sissy."
Softkit quickly lowered her head, pushing Sharpkit's head down gently with her paw as she glared up at Lastingpaw. "And no..." She whispered. "We can't take him there. It's secret for a reason"

Lilypaw- no wait Lilypool now was walking with Lastingpaw who was in awe of the flowers aroud them. Granted flowers weren't commom in Sunclan she was shocked to see just how fascinated he was with them. Rather than annoyed she was amused, "Flowers don't fly but rather they float in the wind since most are really light. But they do look like they fly, huh? Honestly I have never been here either so this will be an interesting adventure for the both of us." Springclan territory was beautiful almost taking her breath away. What a shame they couldn't have this back at home.
Lastingpaw rolled his eyes, straightening up as the gang of kits suddenly surrounded him. Of all the the cats he thought he might meet out here, kits were probably furthest from his mind "Look where Im from flowers stay on their stems, not fly through the air" of course Lillypool's explanation made sense, but more importantly it was supposed to have been a joke. He hadn't really thought the flowers were flying, but of course it wasn't exactly easy to to figure out with him. He had a rather odd sense of humor "What are you kits doing out here anyway?" he questioned, but before he could continue
The young apprentice spun around until he spotted yet another kit hanging onto his tail from it's jaws. Sourkit slowly finally released, his hair raised "Get out of her intruders, don't make me bite you again!!!!!!!!!!"

“At a boy, Sourkit!” Softkit squealed as she jumped up. “Excellent form! Wait till I tell mom!” She exclaimed proudly.
“Wait... what are we doing here?” Softkit scoffed. “What are you doing here? This is our territory! Our dad is the deputy, the future leader, which mom says will happen soon but heck if I know what she’s talking about. Anyway.” She said with a shake of our head. “We’re allowed to be here! We have special privileges and things like that.”
"Oh right. I forgot what a secret was," giggled Sharpkit.
She let out an audible gasp in the same instant Softkit's delighted squeak came, moving over to her brother and patting down his fur disapprovingly. "You know Mommy will fuss if you get your fur all messy, honey," she reminded him. Dancingdragon was not in tune with her feminine side and it took her extra time to groom the kits, which is exactly why she only did it once every other week and why she was extra bossy about them getting dirty.
She looked back at Lastingpaw and Lilypool, frolicking over to them and weaving through their legs. Sourkit did make her think though... Ensuring they were distracted by Softkit's completely believable answer, she ran her tongue up one of the apprentice's legs, pursing her lips afterwards. "He tastes...gritty."

Sourkit huffed "Don't worry, mommy won't be thinking about that when she finds out that we chased out some intruders" he shook out his fur, ruining the carefully groomed hair style "Now get!" he continued to fuss
Lastingpaw was desperately licking his wounded tail trying to get it to stop bleeding, when then there was another kit weaving between his legs. Where were they all coming from? The deputies kids? Well he couldn't exactly just thrown them off "I don't think kits are supposed to be out of camp, even if you aRRREEEEEEE" what was that? He shuddered looking down to find the other kit licking his leg. He awkwardly stepped over them 'I would appreciate it if you wouldn't do that, it's rude. You can't just go around licking cats that you don't know"
“Sharpkit, we talked about that...” Softkit muttered as she ran over to her sister. “Remember? Last time you almost got sick...” She hissed lowly. She cleared her throat before she looked back up at Lastingpaw, puffing out her chest and trying to appear bigger than the much larger apprentice.
“You still haven’t answered our question, and if you don’t... I may just sick Sourkit on you again.” She said as she flicked her tail towards her brother. “Like I already said, we get special privileges since our dad is the deputy. We can go wherever we want. But you. Who are you? Why are you here?”
Jetstar let out an irritated sigh as she tracked the kits scent. She was going to have to remind Dancingdragon that though her kits got to sleep in the leader's den there were limits to their privileges.
The leader had half a mind to sentence the kits to checking the elders for ticks, especially as they went farther than their normal games and began to draw near the border.
For StarClan's sake though SpringClan was relatively peaceful, there were still foxes and other creatures that were very much a threat to adult cats! A kit would be a nice snack for a fox or badger.
"Sharpkit, Sourkit, Softkit what in StarClan's name are you doing-" She trailed off as she found the pack of kits facing a patrol of cats. IT took her a moment for the scent to register. "SunClan." She breathed, she considered Lilypool and Lastingpaw.
Then she cleared her throat, "Ahem, you're a ways off from SunClan. What brings you to SpringClan?" She asked tilting her head. Littlestar wasn't among them this time, though her warning about troubled times ahead made her wonder if perhaps something had happened.

Lilypool cleared her throat and dipped her head in respect. "Hello Jetstar. I'm Lilypool, a Janus of Sunclan and with me is Lastingpaw, who is a ray of Sunclan. We were traveling to talk to you actually when we ran into this rather boisterous patrol of cats. Got to admit they kept Lastingpaw on his toes at least." The she cat was glad she wasn't the one being climbed all around like a jungle gym. She looked to his tail for only a moment to see if the bleeding had stopped before turning her attention back to Jetstar. "Would you mind listening to what we have to say by chance?"
"Don't worry Jetstar we go the situation under control. These intruders were just about to leave" Sourkit huffed bitterly, rising to his paws to stand between their leader and the intruders "They are not worth your time"
Lastingpaw had managed to dance out of reach of the kits by the time Jetstar arrived. He had never met his grandmother's sister in law before, but he had heard a lot about her. She looked a lot like Skipstep, so there was no doubt that this was the cat he had been sent to meet. When he was little he had been told that she was killed when Littlestar was dethroned. His father had spoken of her kindly, but the rest of the clan often talked about how she had gotten what she deserved... Now at least he would have the chance to decide for himself
"Jetstar!" he greeted warmly, "Like Lillypool said we were sent to speak with you by Littlestar"
“And what does Little-whats-her-face want with Jetstar?” Softkit asked defensively. The ginger tabby flicked her ears as she raised a brow at Lastingpaw. She didn’t trust this cat for a second... wait wasn’t Jetstar from Sunclan? Isn’t that what mommy teased her about?
“Hey! No!” Softkit squealed as she jumped up. “You can’t take Jetstar back! She’s our leader go get your own!”
Sharpkit had plopped down beneath Lastingpaw, her ears flicking back as she was scolded and her eyes welling with tears. Jetstar arrived to the scene and she instantly scrambled over to the leader, sobbing hysterically. "Auntie Jet, he HIT me!!" She pointed an accusatory claw at Lastingpaw, who definitely did not hit her, but maybe they would LEAVE and NEVER COME BACK if Jetstar thought he did. He was a meanie!

Lilypool looked towards the kit, "We aren't taking Jetstar anywhere and all we are here to do is just talk is all. We come in peace. Although I have to say you three will be some great warriors one day...probably will give your mentors the run for their money." She muttered the last part quietly to herself before going on. "We are here to see if Lastingpaw may stay in Springclan for a short time with your permission that is."
Jetstar sighed. "It would seem they've seen our current trio of troublemakers and aspired to give them a run for their prey." Though now that she thought about it she hadn't seen Raggedpaw around recently. She might want to look into that and see where she had gone.
She glanced at the kits who were besides themselves with worry and frustration and let out a fond sigh. "Now now little ones, as Lilypool said I'm not going anywhere. The SunClan cats are just here to talk. If they're here on behalf of Littlestar it must be very important. And important doesn't always mean bad news." She assured the little ones.
She blinked as Lilypool's words registered, particularly about Lastingpaw staying in SpringClan. "Oh Lastingpaw wishes to remain with us for a time?" She echoed a bit surprised. Though she wondered why Littlestar would've sent another cat if her grandson had decided to live in SpringClan briefly. Or why it would be temporary. "I'd like to discuss this a little further," She meowed. Particularly to find out if perhaps Littlestar was growing more worried about the threat and that had been what prompted her to send her grandson away.
And if not... well Jetstar trusted her sister in law and loved her dearly, she had to make sure she didn't appear to be treating SunClan overly favorable.

Lastingpaw gave the kits one last huff, at least Jetstar didn't seem to put to much stock into their words. He wasn't sure that he wanted to stay if all SpringClan cats were like these three, but his grandmother wanted this so he wasn't about to allow three kits to scare him off. He tipped his head up and puffed out his chest "Yeah, Littlestar wants me to stay here as a Ray. Basically I will live in SpringClan for a little while to teach others about the Sun God, and to build relationships with other cats here. That way I can serve as an ambassador for both you and my grandmother, traveling back and forth between the two clans. Littlestar wants to make peace between SunClan and the other clans"
"So the SunClan crazies finally come a'callin." Imperial gaze hard, the Trusted emerged behind her leader, her presence summoning all three of her wayward kittens to her without Dancingdragon uttering a single word to any of them. Sharpkit could feel the air shiver around her mother, but she was too young to be able to associate that sensation with rage and animosity; all she knew was Mama was mad. "Why waste time posturing, Jetty? We both know you aren't going to turn them away. They are your clanmates after all," she sneered, then turned to address Lastingpaw, her voice flush with an ingenuine geniality. "Come, come, make yourself at home. What belongs to SpringClan, well... Hasn't it always belonged to SunClan, Jet?"
Gone was any agreeable part of Dancingdragon. She could begrudgingly accept Jetstar as their leader and support her decisions when they were in the right, but she'd been suspicious of her SunClan ties since day one... Something she was vocal about. Something that was being confirmed for her right now, watching this interaction with burning eyes, her memories of being a SunClan captive all those many moons ago like glowing embers feeding the flames.
Jetstar bristled as she turned towards Dancingdragon. "Dancingdragon," She said coolly. "I would hope you've known me enough by now to know that SpringClan is my clan now. Not SunClan." She said.
"This isn't a matter of ownership, SpringClan will always be independent of SunClan." Jetstar said. "Our relationship with them will go no further than what we have already with SummerClan. Should it prove agreeable."
She gave her a meaningful look, right now SunClan wasn't even the biggest threat to SpringClan, Jetstar was more concerned about WinterClan. The fact that they were abusing cats. She felt that if they worked with Littlestar perhaps they could come together and see to it Wintrystar was punished for her transgressions. But SpringClan alone, nay, even with SummerClan wouldn't be enough to defeat the might of WinterClan. They just weren't at that point yet unfortunately.
There was the niggling worry about whatever was going on in SunClan as well. She turned. "Come let us head to my den to discuss this matter properly." As she neared Dancingdragon she leaned in close to her. "We can talk more indepth later." She told her trusted.
