Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Fallingleaves was tired, her tail curled tightly around her newborns as she tried to fall asleep. She had told Pumpkinking about the pregnancy, but hadn't yet managed to get word back to him that they had been born. To be honest, she wasn't even sure if her wanted to be involved with them at all. They hadn't been able to come to a conclusion on where the kits should stay, agreeing to speak of it at their next meeting. Only there hadn't been a next meeting, with her going into labor soon afterwards.
Moltenmidnight was furious with her, having still yet to reveal who their father was in case he wanted a clean break. She and Pumpkinking had both known that things couldn't work out, not without one of them making the sacrifice to move to another clan. He deserved to have time to think about what it was that he wanted without being influenced by her, to have a choice. If he wanted to be apart of their lives she wouldn't deny him, but neither would she force it. She was just about asleep when she heard a commotion....
Pumpkinking was humming to himself, he was a good ways off from the DayClan camp. In his mouth he held a light green blanket that held numerous toys he'd snagged while in Twolegplace. It had been a bit of an adventure. Gotten a little dicey a few times, and he'd had to barter with some kittypets.
But he'd amassed a good amount of presents for the little ones.
He hoped it'd make up for Fallingleaves having to handle her pregnancy mostly alone. He hummed to himself. 'I really hope she likes the gifts! Everyone back home said they were a good idea!'
Moltenmidnight sat in the center of camp with his eyes on the nursery. He hadn't seen the kits since they were born but desperately wanted to see them and their mother. Regardless of their fight, he still treasured Fallingleaves as a dear friend and wanted to work things out. It just seemed like there was never a good time to do so.
~*~
"Fallingleaves, Fallingleaves," Icepaw purred, somehow he'd managed to get into the nursery without his uncle noticing. The black-furred tom lowered his head down to the kits and counted them out, "Wow, so cute! I can't believe that cats could ever be so small. Also, my uncle is sitting outside glowering, do you think you could go talk to him? I'll look after them while you're gone~."
Raredreams had been sitting inside the nursery with Fallenleaves before the labor talking and then was still there when it’d all started and then stood frozen in the corner, out of the way, as it all went down. It was a besticht time to say the least, but he’d tried to be as supportive as always. Now the tom was couched near the nest, curiously and with wonder, watching his best friend and her new kits just...exist. It was amazing how it all happens, and even with his crush on the she-cat he could never imagine being the dad of such adorable little kits. The tom had acted as a buffer between Moltenmidnight and Fallenleaves a few times, but he wasn’t sure now what his role was. Kits changed everything, didn’t they? “Do you know what you’ll name them?”

Fallingleaves ears had perked up, but it was Icepaw's comment that helped to ease her mind. Of course Moltenmidnight was outside glowering. He hadn't been happy about the pregnancy, and even though they had only spoken once since she had returned with the kits it hadn't exactly gone over well either. She sighed "No, if Moltenmidnight wants to speak with me he will have to come inside" she said, knowing that he would be able to overhear before turning to Raredream, feeling a little uncomortable under his intense gaze, though she couldn't quite place the feeling. It wasn't bad...just.. odd. "Ferretkit, Applekit, Soatkit, and Acornkit"
Raredreams was almost surprised considering and his face showed it for a moment, that she had names so quickly decided. But then again, she’d had time to think about them so he really shouldn’t hav even so surprised. “Sound like fine names to me, Fallenleaves!” He was excited for her, and always would be. Even if she didn’t want to be friends any more. The tom had always admired the oddball that is Fallenleaves and was happy to continue doing so. He rose up a little, sitting back and giving her space to speak more with Icepaw if she wanted to. His eyes was constantly drawn back to the kits. Worry setting in. Where they breathing? Did she need to worry about that? How would she know they were hungry? When could they eat prey? Did they have teeth yet? Raredreams hadn’t spent much time around just to really know the answer to those questions. Especially around ones so new to the world as these ones were.
Pumpkinking entered DayClan setting down his bundle and looking around, "Excuse me," He asked the nearest cat, Burningsummer lifting her head blinking at the ginger tom whose tail was waving in his excitement. "I've learned Fallingleaves has kitted, can you tell me where I can find her?"
Burningsummer blinked the queen having been napping. "Er, she's in the nursery," She said turning her head in that direction before turning back to Pumpkinking, "Why do you ask?"
"Oh, well they're my kits, and though we live so far apart, I wanted to get her and them presents." He said nodding to the bundle. "So if you could just point me in that direction-"
Burningsummer studied him for a moment. He smelled of SpringClan and DayClan currently had no problems with SpringClan so she saw no problem in pointing her tail in the direction of the nursery.
"Ah! Of course, thank you miss!" Pumpkinking said before picking up his bundle and making his way in the direction of the nursery. Not realizing the reason for Moltenmidnight standing near the den, the tom raised his tail in greeting before making his way towards the nursery, as if he wasn't a cat from another clan about to walk right into another clan's nursery.
"Yeah, I figured as much, I just wanted to play with the kittens while you were gone," Icepaw cooed, dangling his fluffy tail in front of them, expecting them to bat at it even though they were much too young to even have their eyes open much left coordination to left a paw, "I suppose I'll just leave, then... it's getting pretty crowded in here anyways."
With that, the dark-furred apprentice disappeared almost as quickly as he had appeared, begging to question if he had ever been there at all.
~*~
A low growling proceeded Moltenmidight as he placed himself between Pumpkinking and the nursery. The motion was instinctual, his body moving before his mind had the chance to catch up, but, when he realized what was happening, he was all too ready to back it up.
"Did I hear you right?" The bengal tom asked, his tone accusatory, like his question would reveal some major crime, "You're the father of Fallingleaves's kits?"
Moltenmidnight was half Pravus Nocte but fully looked the part. Large but slim, with sleek, golden bengal fur dotted with large and beautiful jet black rosettes. Long, deadly claws that were only just barely sheathed. He was well-muscled with a fair share of scars scattered all over his pelt, no doubt from starting fights that, odds were, he had won. Bottom line: He was an intimidating dude and the way he looked at Pumpkinking, well... it was anything but friendly.
Pumpkinking blinked setting down his bundle of gifts. "Why yes! I'm quite excited to finally meet them, are they all doing well?" He asked, even with Moltenmidnight snarling at him, he looked the tom up and down. "Oh! You must be a guard they put for the nursery, I'm glad DayClan's taking such good care of their queens, kits are the future after all right?"
He hummed, "May I please step past you, I haven't been able to see Fallingleaves in moons and I wanted to shower her and the kits with gifts. She's a wonderful cat you know, she's taught me a lot." He purred the affection clear in his tone of voice.
Pumpkinking hadn't realized Moltenmidnight was trying to intimidate him.
"If you need to confirm that with her, I'm happy to sit and wait." He added sitting down. "I'm very excited to meet the kits, I wonder if any look like me! Have you seen them yet?"

Fallingleaves was unaware of Pumpkinking's arrival, much less the confrontation that was brewing "Very well, I will talk to you later Icepaw" she rested her chin on her paws as the apprentice disappeared out of the small den "Though he does have a point, it is getting crowded in here. I'll have to start looking for somewhere bigger before the kits really start moving around" but for now she was to tired to even consider it. She had given birth alone, and then carried them most of the way back to DayClan on her own "but that can wait until later, when I feel a bit better" its not like she had mate to assist with the move, and she didn't want to place that burden upon the shoulders of her friends or family. pao
Her ear flickered upwards, lifting her head as she heard the familiar voice from outside of her nest. She hadn't heard it since the day she had told him that she was expecting, the day she had given him the choice. She wouldn't leave DayClan to be with him, nor did she expect for him to leave SpringClan. It was his home. However the one thing she would not tolerate was the kits being put in the middle of this, being forced to choose between the two clans and two sets of parents the way she had been. If he wanted to be a part of their lives then he would have to commit and come to DayClan. She had told no one who their father was, respecting his right to privacy and right to choose. If he wanted to, he could have just walked away from the whole situation and pretended like he had never even known that the kits existed. It wouldn't be the first time a tom had chosen that path, after all they hadn't been planning on starting a family together.
She slowly rose to her paws nosing the crying kits to quiet them "Seems like I have a visitor" she smiled at Raredream, padding to the entrance only to see the two toms staring off against one another "Pumpkinking" she greeted, having almost forgotten that Moltenmidnight was looming outside of her den. If he found out that Pumpkinking was their father.. well this was going to get ugly quickly. She placed herself between the two toms, blocking Pumpking from an attack in the narrow tunnel unless he wanted to try and push her aside "So you have decided?" JetclawJadie
Raredreams was moments away from volunteering to help, to even clear out a space and make the bets himself it’d make things easier on his best friend. But before he could do more than open his mouth, commotion form outside caught their attention. He watched as she walked towards the entrance, mouth closing as he missed his opportunity. Nothing new for him. “I’ll wait here if you want. Watch I’ve the little ones.” It was a question or a comment, not really easy to tell with how unsure the tom felt. He knew about Fallenleaves and this other cat, just not who he was or where he was standing with these kits. Only that he existed and had held his best friend’s heart. There was so much up in the air that Raredreams hated that it all fell on Fallenleaves’s shoulders. She didn’t deserve that burden.
Pumpkinking blinked when she asked if he'd decided. He set down the gifts he'd brought. "Decided?" He echoed tilting his head. There was something she'd needed him to decide?
"I'm afraid I got rather caught up in all the excitement," He apologized. "I was quite euphoric with the news that they were coming soon, and I realized you were stuck dealing with all the trouble of carrying our kits. So I went and found out what gifts to give them and you! I got some nice prey, toys for the little ones, some soft things that might make them more comfortable." He said pawing the bundle he'd brought.
"What was there to decide? Not the kits names right? I'm certain whatever names you chose for them are just lovely." He assured her.
Moltenmidnight was silent for a long time after Pumpkinking had revealed that he was the father of Fallingleaves's kits. He continued to hold his tongue even after the queen herself appeared and the two began their friendly banter. What he wanted to do was shred the SpringClan tom right here and now for all the pain he'd put his best friend through, but he knew better than to act on that impulse. Class promotions were coming soon and he couldn't risk losing his near flawless record on a piece of crap like Pumpkinking.
So, he didn't address him directly, instead looking right past the tom and leveling his kiwi green glare at Fallingleaves.
"This is really the guy that won your heart?" He asked, his tone starting out a bit harshly and then breaking at the end. The moment of weakness surprised even himself and he immediately broke eye contact and sat down, wrapping his tail around his paws. Moltenmidnight's expression was hard to describe but it would be safe to say that he was feeling pretty heart-broken right now.
"Oh I don't know if I'd say I won her heart. I fell quite head over paws for her quite easily. She's so smart, so invested, I enjoyed every moment when we'd go looking for weasels and ferrets!" Pumpkinking said with a purr. "That's how we met you know? She popped right out of a hole after a ferret, and I've looked forward to seeing her every time since!"
"I must admit I wasn't sure what to do about the whole becoming a father thing, but I'm just also so excited!" He turned to Fallingleaves once more. "Are they healthy? Are you healthy? You look well, but I'm no medicine cat. How many are there? Is Sprout excited?" He asked.

Fallingleaves blinked, so this wasn't about what she had asked him? All those times she had gone to their meeting spot only to find it empty... The last time they had spoken, she had told him that he didn't have be a father if he wasn't ready. That he could walk away from her and the kits that she was carrying, and she would keep their father a secret if he so wished... She had assumed that his disappearance had meant just that, that he had chosen to walk away. That he didn't want anything to do with her or the kits, so his sudden appearance had caught her off guard "Come meet them, we can talk more once we are inside" she replied, even the short walk into the tunnel rather tiring. She turned to return back to her nest pausing as Moltenmidnight's words reached her ears, her fierce golden gaze meeting his
"I thought you were going to leave me alone" she whispered bitterly, before disappearing back into the darkness of her den "Thank you Raredream for watching them..." she had only been gone a few minutes, but it might as well been a life time. Her mind still reeling from what had just transpired "their father is here"
Rare dreams didn’t move form his place near the nest, curiously eyeing the father of the kits. He didn’t know pUmpikinking, Handy known his name until today and so the tom really didn’t know what to think of him. “You’re welcome…..” His words trailed off as he watched the tom approach. He seems happy enough about the kits, but wasn’t he ignoring Fallenleaves? The tom stepped back, curious gaze turned towards Fallenleaves, wandering if he should stay or go. Did she need his support in this? He’d stay, happily at that. All’s he had to do was say the word or give him a nord. it a smile or something that said stay.
Pumpkinking's eyes lit up and he snatched up his bundle and eagerly followed Fallingleaves tail held high and flicking with barely restrained excitement. He stopped at the entrance and gasped at the sight of the little ones setting down his bundle and going over to the kittens, gaze softening. "I've never seen kittens so beautiful and perfect," He whispered, gaze filled with love and adoration at the sight of his children.
He looked at Fallingleaves. "You did an amazing job making these kits," He said, he turned to the bundle he brought pausing. "When you told me I was a little nervous, but the more I thought about it, the more excited I felt. Kits! Children! Why I spent a good moon telling every cat back home how I was going to be a father and asking for advice, but then as they told me about the importance of being around I realized I'd forgotten our usual meet up that week."
"I felt absolutely awful," He went on taking out some of the toys and soft things he'd brought, foods that he knew Fallingleaves liked. "So I started looking for things to make it up to you... and by the time the next meeting came around I didn't have anything that felt good enough to make up for my absence. I was going to be the father of your kits after all. So I reckoned 'I'll get her something really really good!' but as I missed our meetings I felt afraid to face you."
"So I decided I'd simply gather everything I could think that you and the kits would like... I did have to restock a few times as I couldn't keep your favorites for long. But here," He finished setting out everything that was in the bundle. There were some cat toys from twolegplace, some soft things that looked warm for the kits to curl up with, and a few of Fallingleaves favorite foods. "This is my apology for missing our meetings."
His ears lowered a little sheepishly. "I uh, hope it makes up for all those meetings I missed... all 3 of them."
Moltenmidnight fell silent as Fallingleaves and Pumpkinking entered the nursery. He stayed rooted to the spot, eyes cast downward but ears angled toward the entrance, a complex range of emotions running through his mind. He couldn't get a good grasp of them, but mostly he just felt... forgotten. Tossed aside, and not for the first time in his life. He felt like he'd missed an opportunity that he had never been given. It made him angry more than anything, but at least he had a semblance of control over that emotion. He had enough sense not to storm in and make a scene but not enough to just walk away and call it quits.
So, there he sat. Doing nothing, saying nothing, just waiting, watching and listening like a creep.

Fallingleaves dipped her head, curling up her feathered tail around the kits. This was something she would have to do on her own "I'll see you at evening meal" she replied, giving Raredream the chance to leave so that he wouldn't feel awkward. She needed to sort things out with Pumpkinking, to figure out what he wanted to do. How involved he wanted to be
She waited until Raredream left to speak, listening to Pumpkinking's explanation. Pumpkinking was so... different. It was the part about him that she both loved and resented. He seemed excited about their kits, and yet had left her hanging...wondering... worrying.... Who was to say that he wouldn't do that to their kits in the future? She placed her paw onto his gently "Look the presents are nice, but what I really needed was for you be here at my side. To be here for their birth, your support. Presents can't make up for the moments that you missed, the memories that could have been made" she paused giving time for her words to sink. Perhaps they were a bit unfair, but she had never been one to shy away from the truth just because it was difficult to hear.
"The last time we spoke, I gave you the option to walk away from these kits. I told you then, what I am going to tell you again. Pumpkinking, you could be a wonderful father to these kits... You are kind, adventurous, and strong, but it is going to take more than that to be a good father. Kits need consistency, dedication, and unconditional love. I want you to be apart of their lives, but not if your going to come and go out of their lifes on a whim. I need to know that you are going to be there, when THEY need you"
Raredreams was slow to leave, eyeing both of them, but respected Fallenleaves more and so he took his leave. He nearly ran into the frozen Moltenmidnight hanging in front of the nursery. "Oh, sorry, I didn't see you there." He blushed a little, always an easy blusher, and shuffled on his paws raising one to scratch at the other front leg. "Um, Fallenleaves is talking to Pumpkinking, so I...." What was he supposed to say to this tom now? He didn't really know if this tom had any business knowing why Pumpkinking was here and stuff, so really Raredreams felt a little uncomfortable talking to him. This was Fallenleaves' private stuff, and who was in her kits' lives was her choice. Didn't matter what the two toms thought.
