Lionpaw gently padded over to his sister, nudging Ravenpaw's head with his nose, "Raven," He whispered.
It was early in the morning before the sun had rose, but this moment couldn't wait any longer. Today he had to tell her the truth, the real reason he was in DayClan. Originally he had no doubt that she would help him, but now he wasn't too sure any longer. Ravenpaw was convinced someone killed their mom and while he knew she didn't desert them, he assumed natural causes had killed her. After all she wasn't raised in WinterClan, she likely made a bad decision that got her killed. Unfortunately she was likely buried under the snow or beneath the ice. He just hoped that Ravenpaw's allegiance was still truly to WinterClan, that he wouldn't go back without her.

Ravenpaw had been dreading this conversation.
Ever since their training session with Tigerlily and Snowthorn, it felt like a wedge had been driven between the siblings. Whatever Wintrystar had told him, or Dottymask or Silverfury or anyone. It was all a lie. Her tail thumped against the ground in her sleep. Lionpaw hadn't been there, he didn't know the smugness those cats held when they talked to her. They knew something. About that dark night when her mother left camp. The guilt of not going after them still ate at Ravenpaw's soul, but now she was awake. And fighting.
So when opening her eyes and meeting Lionpaw's, she knew she couldn't back down. For once, her little crow companion wasn't nearby. It tended to not like sleeping without seeing the sky above it. So no feathers were rustled as she slowly stood up to follow him. "Let's go a little ways away from the camp." She hoped Lionpaw could see reason, could believe her, that he wasn't going to leave her again.
"Okay," Lionpaw whispered back, feeling an immense amount of release that Ravenpaw wanted to talk to. Even as they walked further outside of camp together he could feel himself relaxing more and more. Nothing had changed, it felt like they were just walking side by side like they used to. He was getting all worried for nothing and for what? Like, one disagreement? He should have given her the benefit of the doubt. Now all he felt was guilt for feeling like he would have to beg her to meet him outside or expecting her to give him a hard time.
Once outside of camp Lionpaw sat down in front of his sister. "Raven, I'm a spy for WinterClan, stationed here to keep a watchful eye. The other day, Wintrystar's informant contacted me, this will be my last day in DayClan," He said, about to continue with details of the mission, but something made him hesitate. Even when he was feeling guilty for assuming the worst in her, even when he felt relaxed around her. Something deep inside of him told him not to reveal that information just yet. Maybe the mission would be too intense, but he needed to know that at the very least, if he asked her plain and simple, that she would do this for him. "Will you come home with me?"

As they slipped out of the den then the camp, Ravenpaw reflected on the same thing. Walking side by side surrounded by the sights they weren't completely familiar with reminded her of them as kits. On how Lionpaw would always drag her along to whatever he was doing. On how close all the siblings were before everything happened. It was supposed to be light, but it just made her want to crawl into the recesses of her mind and not resurface again.
She sat down, pulling her fluffy black tail around her paws. She had no idea how unprepared she was for his explanation. While her expression tried to stay neutral, just this basic information was enough to make her jaw drop. A spy? For Winterclan? "That's why... you just disappeared..." Ravenpaw murmured to herself, not expecting an answer. Her throat went dry before she could say anything else, one of her white paws stirring on the ground when he asked his question. Would she go home with him?
It made her head snap up, but her gaze went beyond Lionpaw. Lingering on the peak of the mountain in the far distance, she couldn't describe the feeling overtaking her. It felt like things were falling into place, but her mind couldn't see the puzzle pieces from the puzzle. "Spies and informants? What. Have we really gone down the same road as Primal Instinct? To act as shady as that." Ravenpaw spat, not even looking at Lionpaw while she spoke. Taking a breath, she turned to him again, "Who told you to become a spy? What... made you agree to this? To... leave us?" She wanted to be angry, but she couldn't stop the hurt from overflowing in her voice.
"That's why," Lionpaw said. His carefree smile appearing as innocent as a kits. There was no trace of regret on his face, there was nothing to feel guilty for when he didn't know he had wronged his sister, burned her by leaving when they lost their parents one by one. It was why when the tone shifted to hurt that he looked confused, "Well Wintrystar told me to become a spy. It was a high honor, which we needed. We were seen as just purebloods to fill the role of caretaker for better, more well known purebloods. I wanted to be someone, not the knights daughters mate," He reasoned, but this time looked more certain, "And now I am somebody and it's your choice if you want to be known as the girl who brought DayClan to their knees for their clan or just another pureblood."
