“I thought you’d like it,” Eclipsingpaw purred and then looked around the camp before jumping down beside him. “You could drop apples down on cats you don’t like too.” The apprentice had never done it himself, but he’d been thinking about the potential of the red fruits for a while now.

I nodded my head in agreement as I looked around the camp. I was feeling like this would be a great home to call my own after all. I purred in amusement. "True or just for fun!" I replied with a twitch of my whiskers. "What do apples taste like?" I asked curiously, with a tilt of my head.

“Huh, you know what? I’ve never actually tried one,” he answered as he gazed back up to the tree. He knew they were safe to eat, but he never thought about tasting one before. Eclipsingpaw wondered if any of the other apprentices had tried one before. Even without climbing the tree, apples would sometimes be available at the ground. So, everyone should have been given the opportunity at some point. “Should we give em a shot?”

Eclipsingpaw didn’t mind climbing the tree again, but as he moved back to the trunk he spotted a bright red apple in the grass. Touching a paw to it, he rolled it over on the ground until he determined that it was safe to eat. “Here!” Swiping the fruit across the ground to Bloodpaw, the tom watched him with an interested grin. “You first.”

Bloodpaw caught the apple with a paw and bent his nose to the apple. He sniffed it a few times and then opened his mouth, letting his teeth connect with the apple. His mouth drooled with anticipation as he sank his teeth deeper until the piece broke apart. He chewed the apple a few times and then swallowed. He swiped his tongue over his lips and looked up at Elipsingpaw. "Wow! It's soo... good!" He exclaimed as he curled his tail up happily.

"What? Seriously!?" the tom asked with a stunned tilt of his head. He'd never wanted to try one of them before since they felt hard on his paws, but Bloodpaw looked like he really enjoyed the apple. "I'll have a bite then too," he stated determinedly, stalking in front of the other apprentice and then lowering his head down to the fruit. He gave it a wary sniff at first, expecting the bland scent he was used to, but surprised to smell something sweeter from the spot Bloodpaw had just bitten into. Sinking his teeth in as well, Eclipsingpaw noted that it was difficult to eat, but as the flavor flooded his mouth, he knew it was worth the effort. Straightening up, he swallowed down his bite and let out an appreciative sigh. "That was sooo good."

"Yes!!" Bloodpaw exclaimed with an amused laugh. He watched as his clan-mate came over and took a bite out the apple after he sniffed it. He waited expectantly for him to say something. "I know, right!!" He exclaimed with excitement. He took another bite out of it and sat chewing it. Making loud crunchy sounds and trying to keep from dribbling as the apple's juices filled his mouth. He raised a paw to his muzzle as he swallowed the bite in his mouth and then swiped the juice from his mouth with his paw. He then licked his paw and let out a satisfied purr.
