She nodded in agreement. "I wish I could warn them sometimes. It's important that all our cats are loyal but... some of them are just trying to survive. They have no idea of the fate that awaits them if they even have a shadow of a doubt in their hearts. Truthfully, I was confident on my day but it was awful to see cat's that I had grown up with and trained with die right before me even when I knew they were loyal to Sunclan but they had doubts about the Sun God." Of course it was dangerous to air her honest opinions about all of this, but she had never broken Sunclan law and she decided that it was unlikely Timesquandor would get her in trouble for mere thoughts.
He had never known a cat that failed the assessment, but then, that wasn't surprising: he hardly knew anyone. His tail twitched as he listened to her. "The Sun God is still new to many of us, so I can understand some doubt. I've had my own once or twice, but I brush them aside - I know he's real, at least, unlike StarClan. I've seen him and his work. If he just appeared to everyone, you would think that would clear up some doubts--" he stopped suddenly as a new idea dawned on him. "We took over the clan and so many cats are in initiate now, trying to become members.. like we only took over the clan to help grow his faith."

She nodded. "I think we might have. Some cats have talked about how if they turn Starclan's closest followers perhaps Foxstar will honor them and the Sun God will look favorably upon them but... I don't know if that's right." She admitted truthfully. "I know where my faith lies, that's what is important to me. I doubt Glowstar is going to budge, she's a bit stubborn." She meowed with a hint of amusement in her voice. Yellowdelight had been around long enough to see all of Glowstar's rule and she did have to give the Dayclan leader credit for being stubborn and sticking to her clan no matter what.
"You think so?" Timesquandor was skeptical of that. He didn't know her well, but she got along dangerously well with Foxstar, and his mother had already killed her once. The way she acted made him suspect she wasn't as smart as she tried to let on and she was easily corruptible, changeable; the bubbly ones always were, they couldn't see anything but good in everyone. His tail flicked dismissively. "I think if the Sun God tried, he could convert her, easy."

She shrugged. "Maybe. I don't know her well enough. I like to be optimistic about it though." She meowed, her voice suddenly taking on her usual chipper tone. "But! It will all work out, I'm sure. We will know what to do and the Sun God will guide us on our rightful path. If nothing else, I am sure about this." Sometimes, her optimism was too much for cats but recently she felt it had been affected quite a bit.
He very much doubted that. He considered himself a realist, but his perspectives often leaned toward skepticism and outright pessimism. He saw the corruption of the cats around him and assumed that all cats had those same pressures eroding their good sensibilities. "The Sun God will lead us onto whatever path he wants to," he replied, "that's for certain. We can't say how well the rest of us will fare for that." The deity could easily compel them into a situation that would benefit himself but lead to their deaths or misery.
(guess who found the bottom of their watchlist~ c;)
"That is true. I like to think it will be a good path, however. That is something I need to keep me going." She admitted. Other than that, there was little to keep her going. She had her brother but he was busy chasing a tail in particular and she needed something, anything, to give her purpose and the hopes of a positive future. Maybe that was why she had accepted the Sun god when Foxstar suddenly came into power, bringing this deity with her.
Timesquandor nodded slowly. "We all need something," he said. Sometimes he wondered what it was that kept him going. He wasn't an optimist, he wasn't particularly dedicated or passionate, and he expected things would soon fall apart; that left awfully little to look forward to, no way to tether himself. He frowned at the thought.

She nodded in agreement with a kind smile on her face. She was curious to know what made him keep going but didn't ask. They barely knew each other and she didn't particularly feel like being nosy at that moment. "Hey, what's your favorite game?" She asked with a glimmer of mischief in her eyes. Someone would called her kittish but she didn't care.
His favorite game? Timesquandor almost answered that he had none, but after a moment of reflection, a slow, embarrassed grin crossed his features. "I don't know if it has a name. When I was apprentice I'd go out with the others and we'd play... risky games, I suppose you'd call them. Who would go out the furthest on the highest, thinnest tree branch, or who would stand on the thunderpath the longest when a monster was coming for them," he explained. "I was good at that one."

Her eyes widened with surprise but she couldn't help but feel a glimmer of admiration and respect for that. He seemed to be a big risk taker and that surprised her. "You stood on the thunderpath and just waited? I think my heart would stop beating. I think I would turn in to a rabbit!" She purred with amusement and regarded him with interest. There was something more there and she wanted to know what it was. "I was going to suggest we play your favorite game but," She paused with a crooked smile "I don't know if I'm as brave as you."
Timesquandor laughed. "They were foolish games, I'll admit, and we easily could have died. But I wanted to prove myself to my clanmates, I suppose." He shook his head slightly. For several moons he had wanted to do whatever it took to impress his friends and risking his life was the best way to do it. "It's probably best if we don't go taunt the monsters anyway. That was more stupidity and bravery." He tilted his head and smiled back. "You must have played some equally dumb games when you were young, surely."

"Well... not games really. I was a bit more of a wandered, really. Of course, I played all the basic games but I suppose the game I played the most was how often I could leave Sunclan territory and not get caught. I'd say it's almost as foolish as taunting monsters on the thunderpath." She flashed him a grin. He seemed to have loostened up a bit and it was nice. He was actually pretty fun to be around.
"A dangerous game," he agreed, admiring. "Not only do you have the threat of being caught by whoever's land you're on, I bet your leader wouldn't be pleased as well." Now that they were allowed to come and go it was different, but he could remember a different time when they were young and still cared about borders. "How many times did you get caught? You're still here, so I suppose nobody shredded you too badly."

She grinned at that, tail waving tall and proud in the air. "Never. I was good at hiding and getting back before getting caught. I"m very good at being invisible, sometimes I wonder if other cats even realize I'm here." She purred. "How many times did you and your friends get caught?" She had to admit she was curious, that most definitely would not have gone down well with the leader either.
