(I am so terribly sorry this took so long)
Aurorashine shook her head immediately at the first statement before laughing at the second. "If you ever meet my mother, you'll know why you're wrong. She's not really a mother in the nurturing sense, we grew up in a very rigid role. She had visions of grander for all her kits, though most of us have failed completely, myself included." Her words were matter-of-fact, carefully devoid of emotion. It bothered her, of course it did, but she didn't have to spill her feelings to this cat. He was handsome and sweet and Aurorashine very much didn't want to scare him away with her family's issues.
He was relieved that she hadn't gotten upset at his comment but still felt rather embarrassed. "Your right, I don't know your mother. But what I do know, is that your not a failure." He responded with a warm smile.

Aurorashine glanced at him, surprise glinting in her eyes, she hadn't expect that. Stormsurge was a legend in WinterClan. An infamous one, but still a cat that warranted respect. And as such, Aurorashine had come to be regarded as somewhat of a failure by all. As had the other kits disgraced by their mother. "Thank you, that's very kind of you to say."

"I think it's rather odd," she spoke plainly, with a shrug. "We WinterClan cats aren't known to mingle with other clans, this seems quite out of character." Her voice softened as she paused the walk, looking over at the tom with a kind expression, "still, I'm extremely pleased to have met you."
