Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Glowstar led Everlastingfire into the Endless Falls and then behind the waterfall, it was loud, but behind it was a small cave that she led him into. It didn't appear to go anywhere, but the crashing water outside allowed them to talk in private without anyone able to listen in.
When she turned around she looked entirely different than she did back in DayClan. Her confidence wasn't as bold and she sat down with her tail hugged around herself, she looked guilty. "I know I've been running out of time for a while now, but I never stalled out of any ill will towards the Sun God," Glowstar promised, "I know I don't deserve DayClan, hardly anyone really does, it's such a lovely place," Glowstar said, her smile was small and dreamy as she stared out into the veil of misty water as though she could see all of her land through it. She looked back to Everlastingfire with an at first stubborn look before lowering her pride, "And I will obey your teachings to make me a better fit le- priestess... On the ground that DayClan isn't converted against their will. If you feel there is any wrong doing here, please punish me, not my clan."
Her emerald gaze wouldn't look at him, but if Everlastingfire found here face he would be able to see the fear written across it. She feared any situation that made her lose control of her ability to make decisions and feared cults in general. Now the only fear that was missing was a ferret. Glowstar had never worn paint while in SunClan and she was never seen participating in any festivities. Really the only sun religion practice she ever participated in were prayers when she didn't quite leave in time to avoid them. Now it was apparent that the thing she was avoiding for years finally had her cornered. She was guessing that if Everlastingfire didn't succeed that Sun God might try his hand and she would much rather comply with this god than the Sun God.
Being alone with Glowstar was a lot more pressure than Everlastingfire was expecting. He'd been alone with her many times before, of course, normally it wasn't something to stress over. But in that point lay the problem. He knew the DayClan leader well enough that he could let his guard down around her when he was Bloodyrondo. If she caught on about who he really was then this entire plan may come crashing down. He had a feeling that Littlestar would not be a fan of how her newest Initiate was spending his spare time. More importantly, he wanted DayClan to continue to believe he was a God. He was convinced that that was integral to his success.
When Glowstar began talking he was shocked to find that he had won. She had come to his side! She looked sort of pathetic as she spoke, super defeated, but, like, he understood. He'd been there, had the rug pulled out from under him, it sucked. At least in this case she did not have to worry about him taking her job. As much as he hated how Glowstar did things he had to admit that he admired her, especially after seeing how much her cats loved and defended her.
"After seeing the way your Clan handled my arrival, I have a better understanding as to why you have struggled to guide them into the Sun God's light," Everlastingfire began, still not quite noticing her fear. He was a bit too full of himself at the moment. He'd won Glowstar over without a terrible amount of effort and was coming down from a high that the display of his power had induced, "I'm overjoyed that you are willing to work with me. It makes things easier. I'm not unreasonable... I know this isn't going to happen overnight. I will not impose any unjust punishments although I won't make any promises about what will happen to the next cat to throw a stone at me."
(sorry idk I really struggled with this reply, next one will be more Bloody promise :3)
"I think it has more to do with Foxbane imprisoning us, killing our queens, taking our kits, and brainwashing us in the name of the Sun God, which gives everyone's a very negative view of him," Glowstar said earnestly, but smiled at the praise. Her eyes lingering on every feature of him like he were a gorgeous sunset. Her smile faltered slightly at the idea of punishing anyone, but nodded, "Of course. In DayClan when someone is being horrible we have a saying that no one is perfect, but one gets away with it. Or at least I try to enforce that, anyways I put them in time out where they have no patrols, no talking to friends, just time to relax, take a walk, maybe build something expressive and then when the cat has calmed down I usually sit down and talk them through their emotions. Sometimes this takes a few days or even repeat sessions, but I always try to stay calm and patient. That or we lower their social status, but maybe I should put Fia in timeout for throwing rocks, she did throw an awful lot of them."
She still carried a bit of a feared expression, but relaxed after taking his word for it that he wasn't unreasonable. Although she still hadn't forgotten about his power, he wasn't able to keep in check. He had lashed out at Fia blinding her from anger, which meant he had a lot of learning to still do.
Glowstar glanced at his fur or at least tried to fake it as a glance, "Um..." She smiled shyly at his handsome face, "Can I touch your fur though? Is that weird, it's just the prettiest fur I've ever seen in my life."
"You see, Glowstar, this is the reason why your cats can talk back to you. There's no discipline---" Everlastingfire began the first of his many lessons only to be quickly caught off guard by Glowstar's change in subject. Of course, any time the topic of conversation steered toward himself, it was as a sort of kryptonite, he wouldn't not indulge. He fluffed his pelt slightly, causing the low light to reflected off his fur like dripping honey, accented, of course, by sparks that hovered around his pelt. It was not as impactful nor did it carry the presence of the Sun God's own embers, but it was a pretty good copy and had that rich magenta color.
"Thank you! Of course you can touch it," He purred, focusing his abilities on Glowstar's paw-pads. Everlastingfire's powers were primarily optical illusions but he could also trick other senses. That being said, it was not quite so easy to fake a sensation, it was the main reason why he hadn't let the fire he set to the Wisteria Throne give off heat. It was possible but he wasn't sure he would be able to manage it for long, especially in front of so many cats. This one would be easy though. As Glowstar's paws ran over Bloodyrondo's usually somewhat coarse fur coat, she would have felt the most silky, luxurious fur she had likely ever touched in her life.
He gave Glowstar a cocksure grin, "So soft, right?" He was proud of it, like a kit who had been given a fresh new moss ball, no other cat but Glowstar had complimented him since his arrival so he clung to what he could get. A part of him realized that he was giving away too much emotion. What kind of God talked like this? But he couldn't help it, it was a pleasant release. The last couple hours had been very tense. Give the boy a break, "Anyway, back to what I was saying, you can't just let cats resolve their issues like that. They will abuse the system and break the rules more freely knowing that all they'll get is an extended break with arts and krafts. Fia should be punished for interrupting our discussions the way that she did. More thank just losing rank or time out."
"Oh my stars," She felt his fur, her eyes lighting up like starlight at the pure touch of his fur, "it's like cashmere clouds and swan feathers," Glowstar exclaimed looking up at him, "Wow, y'know, I know a cat who would love to skin your fur and use it as a pillow, good thing I haven't seen her around in a while," She laughed, but straightened up at his comment about Fia, concern crossing her gaze.
"What are you suggesting?" She asked, but already looked intimidated at the idea of punishing her granddaughter in anyway. After all the very worst punishment in DayClan was dropping someone a social rank and Fia tried so hard to keep socialite, it would break her heart if she took that from her doing more harm than good.
"Taking away rank can be a useful tool but there needs to be more... bite," Everlastingfire explained with absolute conviction,"I know Foxbane has taken punishments to the extreme in the past and there are certainly times that execution or torture is necessary, but that is rare and reserved only for the worst offenses like murder and mutiny. The best punishment is tailored for the cat in question. Make them do something that they don't like to do for a few days. Clean out all the dens, bury all the fresh kill, that kind of stuff. I do not know Fia but I gather that she does not show respect when it is due. So, a good punishment for her would be putting her at the beck and call of the Ja-- the, uhh, immortal council. Pick one cat in particular to oversee her behavior and only release her from servitude when the lesson is learned."
The immortal council certainly deserves respect, so who better to teach Fia than one of them? Of course, Everlastingfire had no idea that the subject in question was part of the immortal council... somehow that detail had eluded him.
"Is that teaching her to be more afraid of punishment or is it teaching her why she needs to respect authority? Foxy and I have tormented plenty of cats and made sure they wouldn't mess with us. But if we didn't have our claws or our bite, they would mess with us. They learned to fear us, but they didn't learn to respect us. I think that's where we kind of grew apart, no offense to Foxy, but she always took the easy way out," Glowstar said in a grimaced smile, "I don't want to be lazy like her."
Glowstar looked at Everlastingfire with no hesitancy, but with a clear look that she knew he wasn't going to like what she was about to say, "Anyone can humiliate and cruelly beat another person into submission. It takes a true leader to look at the cracks and dents that every soul has, some more than others and teach them not to submit in the face of adversity, but to rise into themselves. To never look down upon themselves in their darkest hours or heated moments, but to learn and become someone a little different every lesson learned. I raise wolves here, not sheep like SunClan. You can shame me about it, but when DayClan was captured we didn't fall apart and when you challenged us we bared our fangs. We trust in each other because we trust ourselves, but your SunClan believers rely on their God for their self worth. They're so beaten down and humiliated that some come here. We're a home, not a cult. I refuse to demand Fia to serve others as a means to do something like reminding her of her place and what she stands to lose. Fia works very hard to be a good clanmate," She defended.
"What you say sounds ideal and would be if it worked. But that's the problem: It doesn't. From what I know about wolves, there's always a couple unfortunate whelps at the bottom of the pack who only get to eat the scraps left behind by those at the top. So, sure, I guess you do raise wolves, seeing as they have taken it upon themselves to form that social ranking system. You've got your alphas, your omegas, they aren't call that but that's what they are. It's not that bad yet but under you surely it will get there. I kind of like it, I mean, there's room for improvement but it's better than what you had before. That being said it reflects poorly on you as a leader. Come on, your own cats lacked so much direction that they took it upon themselves to establish order," This had been going so, so well. Glowstar was listening to him, praising him even, the rapport was good. She even asked for advise. And then... right back into her old habits. The mere suggestion of what was by and large a tame punishment was rejected before he even finished speaking, he could see it in her eyes. The sparks that hovered around him flickered into tiny flames but, like before, released no heat, "Any group with more than one leader is destined to fail. There must always be one cat on top whose word is law, who meters punishment, makes the hardest decisions. This does not mean the rest of your followers must be sheep - SunClan cats are not sheep, either - but any time one of your Warriors refuse any single one of your instructions there needs to be swift and just consequences."
He paused, dimming the flames slightly, regaining his composure, "So, to answer your initial question... The answer is yes to both. She should fear punishment. She should respect authority. If fear is what it takes to gain control of her, so be it. In time she will come around to your way of thinking," See, there was the cult mindset, slipping right into his speech. It was never really gone, "It's not lazy if it works."
"Soooo, are you going to blind me or something if I refuse? Or catch me with your fake fire?" Glowstar's rich emerald eyes looked darker behind the veil of water gushing outside the cave, but he could catch the flickering beats of mischief in her eyes. "Cause," She began as her claw's grazed over his Everlastingfire's chin briefly leaving only a very light scratch in its placed as she stepped closer to him, the only way out past her, "When I pet your fur I didn't feel the embers I saw and normally I'd have a whole lot of fun watching you lie, but now I'm just downright curious. How dangerous are you really? Can you stop me with your powers if I keep walking closer?" Glowstar asked as her claws swept out at him again as she walked closer, "Really though, are you like Bluejay, can you only attack when you feel in danger or are you calm enough to wield it at will like Pandora? What type of God are you?" The closer she was able to back him up the more aggressive she seemed to get.
Everlastingfire hadn't expected Glowstar to press forward like she did. Before he even realized it he lifted his own paws and backed away, his tail brushing the dusty cave floor. Fear. It wasn't an emotion that he had often. But right now, in this poorly-lit cave by the waterfall, he felt like he was the omega being cornered by the alpha. Glowstar had age and much, much more experience on Everlastingfire. This really was a game to her... and it seemed she very nearly had figured out his trump card. He head his breath as his heart began to race. Panic. Was he going to fail before he even really began? His mask that was Everlastingfire's persona did not reveal even a fraction of dread. And yet... his cocky smile seemed so, so fake. For a moment, he was spiraling.
"How dangerous are you really?"
Fire began to burn in his heart once more. Was he actually going to take this? Was he really going to let a gravely wounded old lady like Glowstar scare him? HIM? The cat who had all of Wanheda's power, who was, for all intents and purposes, a God? His fear from before began to fade as his heart fueled the hidden pendant he wore around his neck. The flowing water around them flickered like a flame burning out then and morphed into deep indigo magma, casting the entire cave shades of purple and pink. It did not look all that different from his show with the wisteria throne earlier but it emanated an intense, fevered heat.
Everlastingfire felt the searing breath of the waterfall-turned-volcano but it caused him no discomfort. If anything, it emboldened him, and a true grin spread across his face. He would show her. The crimson tom took a dramatic step forward and, as he lifted his paw from the ground, the earth below it appeared to shift and twist. It began burning, too, almost red-hot but cast in golden yellow hues. The scent of smoke and brimstone filled the air around the two of them.
"Don't underestimate me, Strikhedoniadalisay."
His voice was heavy and aged and didn't quite sound like the same preachy tom from moments ago. He lifted his paw and repeated the gesture that Glowstar had showed him that triggered all of this. A dedicate touch, but with just enough claw to prove his point. Everlastingfire was so smug. This illusion was perfect, would scare anyone, heck, even scared himself a little bit. This would convince Glowstar to listen to him. It had to.
Unbeknownst to Everlastingfire, however, he had just cast a curse on the DayClan leader. Absolute, excruciating pain, the kind that made its target feel as it its soul was ablaze, like her flesh was slipping right off its frame.
(I'm guessing the repeated gesture is when Glowstar's claws grazed his chin, but let me know if I'm wrong!)
Glowstar grinned widely at the flurry of lights, heat, and fire, she could feel the sweat from the heat coming through her paws, but who was she kidding it wasn't just from the heat, it was getting hot just watching such true power. This was more like it and turning to see him, she could tell he had the same though too. Now he was a God and now he was going to be ten times for fun to beat than the preachy obnoxious kid next door. Her eyes were lit brighter than the fires as she watched Everlastingfire walk towards her, come on.
"I-" Glowstar let out a shuddered gasp as his claws grazed across her chin as her entire face flushed with the heated intense passion of pain. She let out a short whimper, the misery was overwhelming, pulling into her like long thorns pushing deeper even when she knew she had enough and could take no more, she still didn't want it to end. She let out an anguished cry, but her eyes were full with pleasure, "I never did." She whispered before moaning with delight as the pain burned through her, she wanted to collapse, let it take over. Some part of her that was still rational and not utterly living in her new suffering knew better than to fall. That if she did she would want it to never end and fall into her hellish bliss for all eternity, but what would become of DayClan then?
"You got me, what are you going to do?" She asked, her words struggled to come out without a hitch, but soon after she let out a pained wail that felt tight and rough like salt water on her tongue as she cried, but she loved every miserable moment of it and showed in her eyes. Normally she tried so hard to conceal this, to not feel this, but this pain was too overwhelming to fake now.
(yep! sorry, I edited it a bunch of times shocker and accidentally deleted that detail... ALSO I will dispel the pain curse on my next reply, just wanted you to know I wasn't gonna drag it out xD)
Well, that was easy. Everlastingfire just amped up the fire show and that seemed to be all that it took to convince the illustrious Glowstar. The complacent grin that he had already been wearing grew to the point that it was nearly sinister. The magenta sparks that flitted about his body start spitting at a fever pitch, sounding off like fire-crackers, it took all he had in him not to laugh maniacally at his own success. The flow of the pink hued magna sped up and began to pour over the water's edge.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm going to make you into an exemplary High Priestess and bring DayClan into the light," He replied to her question shortly before her cry of agony rang out and reverberated off the walls of the cavern. He choked the cry off so it wouldn't reach past the waterfall and gave Glowstar an incredulous look. That was a little bit extreme, wasn't it? He would have only expected a scream like that from a cat near death, it was honestly bone-chilling. Everlasting fire tried to get a read on Glowstar by meeting her eyes. It didn't help much, though, misery and pleasure seemed mixed in equal parts. It made his skin crawl a little bit but he dismissed his concerns. Time to get back to business.
"The next thing I would like to talk to you about is your class system. I have a vague understanding of it but would like to know how you determine how a cat falls into each bracket. Is it merit based? Family based?" It was sort of overkill to keep the illusion up when the conversation was turning more placid but, hey, he was really killing it and the scenery made him feel powerful and in control. When Glowstar didn't reply right away, he turned his eyes to her once more and noted that her expression hadn't changed much, which was a little odd, "Glowstar?"
Glowstar winced, some people struggled to find words when the pain was so excruciating but for her she never found any difficulty, "You tapped into a power that's," She sucked in a weak breath, loving the way the misery ran against her spine like thick scolding metal leaving her close to breathless, "bringing me pain." Her purr trembled, "And the delight of it is very distracting." Her legs were shaking, she looked close to collapsing at this point, "Will you stop the pain?"
"I... what?" Everlastingfire blinked as he processed what Glowstar was saying. His smile broke and he observed her trembling legs, her slightly glossy-eyed stare, something was not right. She was feeling... pain? Not a single tuft of fur was out of place, she wasn't bruised or bleeding, by all appearances she was physically well. Just like how he had blinded Fia earlier, it seemed like he had cast something on Glowstar on accident, too, "Oh, of course I will."
Only problem? He didn't know how to do it. The only reason Fia's blindness had been dispelled was dumb luck. His breathing sped up, as did his heart rate. He disagreed with Glowstar, sure, but she had been so kind to him when he and Duskslayer had come to DayClan after the Mate Choosing Ceremony. Her Clan clearly loved her. He kind of did, too, it was hard for a tom like him who was motherless to not be a little enamored by Glowstar who was a mother to all. He didn't want to hurt her unless she gave him a reason and thus far she had not. The SunClan tom was starting to feel the heat from the magma now, the molten floor was clinging to his paws, wisps of fire twisted around his pelt like a tiny inferno. The world around him looked as if it had been overlayed time and time again, the colors brighter, the shadows black as pitch, the air nearly too heavy to breathe.
He couldn't break the illusion.
As his panic rose, so did the waves of magma. It was going to consume him. He looked around for someone, anyone, to save him from this, but he'd come alone, Duskslayer was in the Regime, Nikko was back in SunClan, and who knew where the Sun God was. He couldn't expect the DayClan leader to save him from this when she could barely stand. He was totally alone.
Suddenly, he felt Glowstar's claws dig into his throat and gasped out in agony as crimson red blood spilled down his chest and onto his white paws. But... no, this wasn't Glowstar. Her gaze lacked any gleam, he may have well been looking at the eyes of a corpse. She grinned and the air around her shimmered away to reveal a void. No, her fur was just so dark that no light could penetrate it. Shadows clung to her like she owned them. As she leaned in close, all Everlastingfire felt was... cold. Chilled, straight to the bone. The feeling of death. It was a stark contrast to the fire that was consuming him just moments ago. He heard her laugh and watched her open her mouth, the she-cat's breath as frigid as winter wind, but...
Everlastingfire gripped at the pendant around his neck and ripped it off; the magical item fell to the ground and with its removal the entire illusion dissipated.
Glowstar was face to face with a terrified Bloodyrondo. There was dried blood on the top of his head from where the rock had hit him earlier and now he was the one trembling.
(to be clear - I never moved Glowstar anywhere :3)
Glowstar felt the tug of gravity on her shaking legs, willing her to lie down and would have complied if it wasn't for the tom staring back at her. "Oh Bloody," Glowstar whispered lovingly and trudged slowly over to him before embracing him. She gently ran her paw back and forth soothingly down his back, she could still feel the flecks of power radiating from his pelt. There was so much power in that one pendant, she could only imagine how worn out it must make him feel to use it. Some power took emotional control, but others took time and understanding of ones ability, but he had neither. He seemed so young to push himself this far.
Since the moment he walked into camp she suspected it was him, but never certain. The way he walked was the same familiar pompous stride, it was like trying to change handwriting, even faking it, she could tell it was familiar. Her uncertainty of Everlastingfire's identity was why she gave him the option to stay instead of letting her clan force him out. When he had arrived in DayClan that one night he was so shaken looking, it was sad, but every SunClan cat was someday taught a lesson, no one was ever pure enough not to be punished someday in that clan. She didn't want to make him go back home if it was really him and seeing that her assumption was correct she was relieved he had stayed. She wished he wouldn't go back at all, show him a different way of life, but him returning home felt inevitable. Reaching forward Glowstar pressed her nose up against his, "We'll help each other, I promise."
Glowstar leaned back, "Your secrets safe, you can trust a...." She glanced to the side before smiling tightly, but her gaze was light as gossamer and playful as water, "Future high priestess right?" She gave him a lick across the cheek, her entire body there to help support him. A part of her knew that adapting SunClan's culture wasn't possible, but she cared for Bloodyrondo and all her clanmates in SunClan. He was still her priest promised, but more than that she looked at him as a second son from the way Dusky and him cared for each other. She knew the last thing Dusky would want was for her to turn him away. He was a part of the family now and given the amount of damage he had done in one day he fit in pretty well.
(look I didn't make you wait almost a week!!! I feel like this one is sort of heading toward its conclusion but feel free to spice it up if you want)
Bloodyrondo didn't pull away from Glowstar when she brushed her muzzle against his only because he hadn't quite come to term with what had just happened. He had lost control. He drew his paw to his throat, right where that shadow can had attacked him, but it was bone-dry, no wound present, although it still hummed from the trauma. It had felt so real, the pain, the blood, all of it, if he didn't know better he would have believed himself miraculously healed not tricked by an illusion. How could Glowstar feel a pain so vidid like that, for much longer than he had, and know that Bloodyrondo was the source of it, yet still embrace him like a mother would her son? Bloodyrondo knew he wouldn't be able to forgive anyone so quickly for something like that. Glowstar's logic was maddening but it seemed to be a winning formula for her. Somehow the meager control he had had moments ago was slashed and she once again was leading the exchange between the two of them.
"I don't need your pity..." He said finally, pulling away and grabbing the necklace before Glowstar had the chance to grab it. That was another problem, actually, why didn't she? She was a smart cat and more than capable of figuring out that it was the source of his godhood. She could have had the powers of the stars but instead chose to comfort him. He put it back over his neck with trembling paws but didn't trust himself to glamour just yet. It was pointless now anyway, the gig was up. He turned his celadon eyes on the DayClan leader, so much like his father's but infinitely more vulnerable. It seemed that Glowstar was more willing to accept his plan now, knowing his true face, then she had been back when he was Everlastingfire. Yet, this acceptance was... cheapened. Like it was just handed to him because of who he was, "... If you tell anyone that I am Bloodyrondo, I'll inflict you with that pain again, I swear it." A totally empty threat, his voice was monotone and defeated and besides it was clear that he didn't have any control over that aspect of his abilities. It was the only threat he had, "I just want what is best for you and DayClan. Following the Sun God's code is the only way to guarantee your futures and strengthen the bonds between our two Clans."
(I don't even know how I missed you posting this xD)
She felt him pull away and stepped back, his gaze reminiscent of his fathers, but it lacked everything about Funk E'tan. His father was level headed there wasn't a bloodlust he couldn't control, bold in the face of danger with a humor that charmed anyone. Bloodyrondo was who he felt he was supposed to be and he didn't know what that was supposed to be so he was lost. It showed, the way he had to pretend to be someone that wasn't him for anyone to listen to him. How he threatened, but the attitude and rage wasn't there. Whatever happened in SunClan, they took his identity as they often did, it was how they controlled cats. They stole their name, made them forgot about their past life, and kept their souls. That was the problem, the Sun God adored her and she was devoted to him, but he wanted her clans allegiance and it wasn't hers to give away.
"You're confusing pity with sympathy. I left my home in the Regime and joined the league, it was so much better than my old life. I went up the ranking fast at a young age, I was their best bloodhound and it wasn't until I was promised to be the next nemesis that I realized the chain around my neck. I wasn't free, I was owned. Maybe you are free in SunClan maybe you're not and like me you don't know it yet, but what I do know is that the moment they let me off that chain I vowed to never be someones pet again. I know if I become priestess the Sun God will own me and everyone in my clan, it's about the crummiest thing I could do. So what makes you want to be someones possession so bad?"
She casually walked over to his other side and stood there, as though blocking something from his view since there was literally no reason for her to just go to his other side. Behind her was a pentagram of sorts, not that she anticipated having a God just full on walk into her camp. This was the space that she lured her kids to while they were fighting and trapped their powers and themselves in that space. She had considered shoving him in while she was in pain, but wanted to test out the goodness of his heart and he had passed. However, since he passed it would be a shame if he noticed what she had planned for him originally...
"You're talking to me like you really believe you have no chains around your neck. But it's not true. Everyone is a slave to something. The Sun God knows this and in exchange for devotion he gives us protection and guidance. His word is final, there is no room for debate and discussion, it's why SunClan runs so much more smoothly that DayClan. The High Priestess's word, which is the next best thing to the Sun God himself, is law," Except for when she was wrong, but he wasn't going to bring up the whole Satinlights thing and he hoped Glowstar wouldn't, either, "In other words, I chose my master."
He watched Glowstar presumably pace but didn't think much about it at first until he followed her gaze to the pentagram. Bloodyrondo, being sort of oblivious in nature, probably would not have have thought anything of it had Glowstar not been so purposeful in placing herself in front of it. Curious now, he padded right over to the drawing on the ground, a curious expression on his face, "What is this?" He couldn't help but place his paw on the edge our of curiosity.
"Interesting choice in words Everlasting, a slave, what an heart breaking notion," She said gently, her tone softer and light like gossamer now.
Her truly ached for him, it wasn't what he said that made her heart sink. It was thinking of what he had to have gone through to finally break him into believing he was cornered to be a slave no matter what path he chose. How many times did he tug at his chains before he let them hold his body and soul down? Situations like this were always tough, such as with Twistedecho she had to choose her clan over helping her, yet longed for the day of proving that she could protect the Janus. If Foxbane had never been leader, no one would have died and suffered as much as they had. Everything had so much more weight when it connected to Foxbane, she could have killed her, Foxbane hadn't been afraid to end her, but she had loved her too much to end her. Even now, she loved Bloodyrondo too much to out him when she could easily finish him off, here and now.
Glowstar gestured to the symbol behind her, "This can trap all forms of magic, even a God." She looked Bloodyrondo over before sitting down, "Here's a little history lesson on what SunClan doesn't tell you. I could have killed Foxstar forever, but I generously took one life. I won the battle against SunClan, but Foxbane had her claws around Duskslayer's brother when he was a newborn kit and threatened to kill him even though he was a SunClan blooded kit. I could have commanded WinterClan, NightClan, SpringClan, DayClan, and Renegade Regime to slaughter SunClan when I orchestrated my clans freedom, but I allowed your clan to live. I think SunClan confuses these acts of kindness as mercy, but what I'm really providing is a gesture of love. I love SunClan, I love the Sun God, but I don't have an ounce of mercy in my murky Regime League blood. So look at that symbol and remember, I let you be Everlastingfire because I believe in you." For most of her talk she had been in almost a serene ethereal state reciting back the historical back stabbings numbly, feeling little of the pain that had felt fresh at the time, gone with age. However her emerald gaze flickered back to life as she spoke more directly to Bloodyrondo. Her words had more care and weight, a natural faith in her tone that genuinely was cheering for him to do well and be the first person not to backstab her.
"So how can I help get Everlastingfire ready?" Glowstar asked with a small shy uncertain smile, never sure if he would ever smile back at her.
Bloodyrondo quickly removed his paw away from the circle and took a step back. He listened to Glowstar with a wide-eyed expression although when she fell silent he scoffed and looked away from her, instead focusing the the waterfall's gentle lull as he responded, "You really should take me more seriously, Glowstar. That would be a good start. Your so-called acts of love are appreciated but not necessary. SunClan, through the Sun God's guidance, will always come out on top in the end with or without your help." His response was predictable. It was laughable, really, like he was reciting a script. He let out a shaky breath and re-cast his glamour to look like Everlastingfire again, although even the magic couldn't hide the broken look in his eyes.
"I'm going to claim the Wisteria Throne tonight. Only those who wish to learn more about the Sun God should disturb me, otherwise I will be resting. Tomorrow I will lead morning prayers and then return to SunClan. Since you know my true identity, there's really no point in me keeping secret from you, so I guess you should know that I'll be traveling between our Clans until I am satisfied that you can serve as a proper High Priestess. It may take one moon or twelve but I'm in it for the long run." He wasn't worried about that silly promise he made with Windchaser. All he had to do was make sure that she didn't see a full moon until he wanted her to; easy, "And... thanks."
