Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was hard to predict how anyone would react to grief, but Poppypaw was no stranger to it. He mothers and a sister disappeared recently and were presumed dead due to evidence found on SummerClan's territory. She had totally shut down for a week or two before burying it all and jumping right back into Garden Keeper duties without skipping a beat. It wasn't healthy but it worked for and had been working for her for some time. Losing Coalkit was different. She played with kits all the time but they all seemed the same to her at such a young age. She did not really know him and, just like that, he was dead.
"Quit blaming each other, you fools." Poppypaw said, her voice emotionless, "It was an accident. Coalkit walks with StarClan now and no amount of finger pointing is going to bring him back."
Ratstar silently followed his Deputy out of the den, mentally preparing himself for the worst, but the sickening feeling in his chest only grew tighter...nearly suffocating. As he stepped out of the hollow and into the clearing, that's when he saw it; the silhouettes of six apprentices huddled together in the darkness, heads bent down in shame, with at least three of them absolutely soaked to the bone and shivering in the breeze. Unsure of what he was witnessing, he glanced questioningly at Lemonspeckle, only to notice that the other tom wasn't looking at the younger felines at all, but rather, something resting on the grass in front of them.
No...it was someone on the grass in front of them. His breath hitched in shock and sorrow as he stared down at the un-moving form of what was quite clearly a kit.
A dead kit.
"C-Coalkit...?"
Eye wide, Ratstar looked back up at the terrified, and now, he realized, sobbing apprentices.
He couldn't think. He couldn't breathe.
"What have you done?"
As the words left his mouth, a sudden CRASH erupted from the heavens, and the rain poured down on them all.
[And this is where we're going to end the Watermouth Prologue! The Plot's official Part 1 will start tonight, and this thread's events will also be referenced in the upcoming ceremonies. Thanks for participating! ^-^]
