Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Blackberrypaw paused, his ears perked, as he looked out at the camp that was swathed in moonlight. The air was cool and crisp, creeping into the apprentice den and making the dark gray tom shiver, though it may have been with anticipation, too. The camp was silent and sleeping, the only cat awake was Lemonspeckle, keeping guard at the entrance to camp. If it had been anyone else, Blackberrypaw might have been afraid to attempt what he was about to do, but not tonight. He knew he could get by his father without the tom noticing. Not because he was a terrible warrior — he was powerful, wise, and strong, otherwise he wouldn’t have been deputy — yet the tom’s pelt mingled with Blackberrypaw’s own scent so often the apprentice was sure that his father wouldn’t even notice it.
Blackberrypaw lowered to his stomach and crawled toward his siblings who were all in a pile. He nudged them awake, not minding if he woke the other apprentices. The more the merrier.
“Guys — I’ve had the greatest idea! We should go on an adventure!”
Poppypaw was one of the oldest apprentices in the den and had naturally made a claim to one of the nicest nests. It was well away from the main entrance and right up against the back corner. Very warm, cozy and private, at least as private as any shared den could be. The low-traffic nature of that area allowed her to collect various items, mainly leaves and flowers, but she didn't have any type of organization. Her nest these days looked like a mess of leaf-litter that smelled sweet like flowers.
The cream-colored she-cat yawned and strength out her front legs when Blackberrypaw started making a racket. She opened her eyes for a moment and looked at intruding tom with an expression equal parts confused and annoyed, "This better be good!"
At the word 'adventure', Speckledpaw's head shot up. He, too, was an older apprentice but he hadnt tried to claim the better nesting spot and was rather a kit at heart. He was content just being where he was. The calico tom perked his ears. "Where are we going?" Speckledpaw asked in a hushed, enthused tone.
"Adventure?" Turtlepaw meowed, the one eyed apprentice slowly lifting his head. "That can be dangerous." He meowed. "What if a fox or badger gets us? Or another really mean cat just waiting to seize on some adventurous apprentices?" He asked shakily
"Dont worry, Turtlepaw! We will be fine! The chances of that happening are slim" Speckledpaw assured him, knowing he wasnt entirely convinced himself but an adventure did sound fun.

"Adventure? Count me in!" Skypaw rose from his nest and stretched. It had been a moon since he came to SummerClan and he was itching to go beyond the borders once again. The threat of foxes or badgers didn't bother him. He had lived as a loner while a kit and learned from his parents how to find cover and safety from those animals. "Where are we going?"
Blackberrypaw’s eyes were shining brightly despite the dim glow of the den, his white fangs gleaming against his dark pelt as he grinned. He was excited that the other apprentices were wanting to tag along as well. He sat on his sister, Peachpaw, hoping she’d wake up, as he turned to the others. “While Markedpelt and I were in the forest today, we heard something crash at the southern border by the stone wall. I wanted to check it out but he said Ratstar would send a patrol in the morning, but I think we should go investigate!”
Turtlepaw seeing the other apprentices head out, worry crashing through him as he remembered Frondpaw, and the terrible fate his best friend had suffered just because they went out playing. What if that evil assassin cat from the league returned again, what if something worse came after the other apprentices?
But the other apprentices were only excited it seemed.
"It could be really dangerous," Turtlepaw tried again. "We're just apprentices we could get into a situation we're not prepared for," He was technically the oldest in the den, and had the attempt on his life hadn't happened in WaterClan (and almost happening again after joining SummerClan) he'd probably be a young warrior by now. But he felt just as small as he did when Riverstar promoted him too early at 4 moons old.
Peachpaw mumbled at the loud voices, barely awake. All she knew was that the others were waking her. “Geoff me.” She groaned, pushing Blackberrypaw away. She sat up, shaking out her silky cream pelt. “What’s all this about?” She shook her head as if clearing her thoughts, but truth be told she wasn’t really thinking about much. “Adventure? I love adventure!” She cleared her throat a few times before she caught herself abruptly. Peachpaw listened intently, her excitement only growing at every word. “Let’s go! Let’s go!” She bounced out of the den.
"Come on Turtlepaw, don't be such a grouch. We're basically Warriors at this point anyway, we got this." Poppypaw mewed, padding over to the one-eyed apprentices side. She was going to be a Garden Keeper and was notorious for skipping her Warrior training, so she obviously would be no help should an enemy of any kind show up, "Now come along before Peachpaw leaves us behind! Think of this as a final huzzah before our promotion."
"And anyway," Blackberrypaw purred, "The most it'll be is that a tree fell or something. I'm sure nothing is going to be out there waiting for us. And if something is, we can handle it," he sounded so confident and sure, beaming at Poppypaw as she reassured Turtlepaw as well. "We better get going, otherwise the sun will rise before we set paw out of camp," he paused, ears pricked in thought. "Since there are so many of us, it might be difficult to sneak out past Lemonspeckle. Maybe we should climb over the medicine den and go up the hill by the garden first? We could sneak right past the nursery..." He slid toward the entrance of the den, pressing Peachpaw into the side of the bramble wall. The camp was still clear and quiet.
"Going over the medicine den sounds like are only true option but wouldn't they hear us? We would have to be quieter than mice!" Speckledpaw chimed in, trying to be rational.
"Wow you guys are overthinking things, all we have to do is distract Lemonspeckle for a few moments and sneak on by." Poppypaw was not a very smart cat, though, so she couldn't quite come up with a distraction. She looked to Blackberrypaw for inspiration, since he seemed to be taking the lead on this endeavor.
Blackberrypaw huffed, thinking hard. “Okay, I have an idea,” he murmured, going over the plan in his mind. “I can distract him. While I’m talking, you guys slip out. When he goes back out to stand guard, I’ll slip by. My pelt will blend in the best,” he added, truly as dark as a shadow. He began to ruffle his own fur, his eyes suddenly glowing like a distraught kit. He grunted and slipped out of the den, letting out a quiet mewl as he hurried toward Lemonspeckle.
The large tom turned, seeing his son. For as brave and as strong as he was, and how terrifying he could be, the deputy turned into a puddle of fur when it came to his kits. He padded into the clearing. From the apprentice den, Blackberrypaw could be heard saying pitifully, “I had a terrible dream! WinterClan was attacking us, jumping off the mountain!”
“Right—Right—Right! Let’s go!” Peachpaw nudged her brother onward, backing up into the den so she couldn’t be seen. “On my word, we go.” Her eyes blinked rapidly, causing a small annoyed grow to emit from her throat. She waited to hear Blackberrypaw’s voice before beckoning the others forward silently. It proved very difficult to quiet her entire being while sneaking towards the exit. Was this the way they were suppose to go? She hardly cared. Peachpaw sent a quick glance at Lemonspeckle and Blackberrypaw. She easily could have come up with a plan just as good. Her head turned to see if the others were following, only lingering for a second before she silently slipped out of camp.
Poppypaw followed directly behind Peachpaw, but she was not half as stealthy as her predecessor. This she-cat was an established klutz by nature and seemed to always get her paws tangled together when it mattered the most. Thankfully all she did this time was stumble slightly over a patch of uneven ground before slipping out of camp unseen.
Speckledpaw followed closely behind Peachpaw, casting quick and cautious glances toward Blackberrypaw and Lemonspeckle. It seemed like moons but he finally made it out of camo right behind Peachpaw and turned to help usher the rest of the apprentices through the entrance as quickly and quietly as he could.
Turtlepaw reluctantly followed the others. He wasn’t sold onthe idea, but he didn’t want to risk any of his fellow denmates meeting a terrible fate like Frondpaw had.
