Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"She did her best!" Morningbird argued, then Snowyspots' next words registered in her mind. And they echoed, wrapping her mind in their cold embrace. The tears that had threatened to spill over went cold, and, for a moment, they poured down her face like a river. I do hate her. Her eyes slid over to Bunnywiggle. Did they feel the same? Then, the coldness finally reached her heart, and the tears stopped. "Is that so?" she said, her voice distant and lacking emotion. She took another step back. "Well, you shouldn't have to worry about me for too much longer. It's only a matter of time before a branch falls on me or something."
Well, her best wasn’t enough! Bunnywiggle wanted to shout, scream at their sister that their mother should have done more. But they couldn’t. That would be unfair, wouldn’t it? Giving a frown instead, Bunnywiggle glared hard at Snowyspots for his hurtful comments, their ears flattening in a flashing annoyance. They loved their brother to death, but sometimes he was too much.
“No! Birdie, don’t talk like that!” They cried, almost desperate. They wouldn’t be able to live without their sister, even if it seemed she was so far. “Don’t ever talk like that!”
"Oh, please," Snowyspots sniffed, turning his head away and resorting back to haughty snark to drown out the guilt that niggled at the edges of his heart; he didn't want to be worried about her, didn't want to care about her, didn't want to feel bad for being so justifiably hurt. He wanted to be allowed to be hurt and angry and betrayed without feeling like the bad guy - she'd done something wrong, and now he was the villain because his sister had broken his heart? It stung. Bunny's glare stung. It all stung.
But, as always, he was too stubborn to hold his tongue and too righteous to feel like he should be the one to say sorry - he wasn't the traitor. "She's just being dramatic. Besides, there aren't nearly enough trees in WinterClan for that. If you had come with us to SummerClan, maybe then we'd have to worry, but- oh, no, sorry, silly me, this little conversation is going around in circles." He closed his eyes with a little hmph and tilted his head up to the sky; no, he couldn't let it go. No, he wouldn't ever let it go. She was in the wrong, and he wanted an apology.
This time, when Morningbird opened her mouth, it was a laugh that escaped. It was cold and shrill, almost as if it came from elsewhere. Anywhere else but from the small she-cat. "Oh, you're right, I forgot how much you don't actually care. You didn't care about mother, and you certainly don't care about me." She took yet another step back, then, without warning, she spun and ran as fast as she could. Unfortunately for her, fast didn't mean careful, as she soon smacked her face yet again into a tree. Maybe another rock would have been better, but something seemed to snap into place in her mind, and warmth spread back into her body. Warmth and sadness. So much sadness.
She collapsed into a tearful heap at the trunk of the tree, the only sound escaping her was an occasional hiccup. She didn't want to look and see if her siblings were still there. She couldn't handle it if they had left her again. But, even worse, was if they were still there, still watching her. They must think her mad, and maybe she was. She had lost her mind for a few moments, hadn't she? And now she had lost control of herself. She sunk in on herself, making her body as small as possible. If only she could just vanish.
“No—Birdie!” They called desperately, reaching out to their sister just as she ran off. The feeling of WinterClan, the sadness, heavy feeling, settled down upon their shoulders, strengthened by Morningbird’s strong emotions. They crackled in the air, flooding around them, intertwining with their own feelings. “Wait!” Sending a terrified look to Snowyspots, Bunnywiggle took off after their sister, stopping intheir tracks suddenly as Birdie collided with the tree.
”Are you okay? Please tell me you’re okay? You’ll be fine—this is fine!” They scrambled beside her, checking her over and over to make sure she was okay. “No . . . No, don’t cry. I’m here. We’re here. We love you, so much.” Gently placing their paw over their sister’s back, Bunnywiggle tried their hardest to soothe her. “We’re just—just tense right now.”
