Cannalily was sweating bullets. She couldn't tell him she was sick all the time and had to be taken care of fairly frequently. He could attack her and kill her easily if he knew that. She also didn't want to make NightClan look weak. She decided to lie.
"You know, patrol the border, hunt for food, fight off invaders that seek to do harm..."

"I don't see why they wouldn't, but at the end of the day that's up to Burningstar." Cannalily said. "But you're really nice, so I can't imagine she'd say no!"

"I don't believe so." Cannalily said. "You will need someone to vouch for you and be your surrogate family member though. And then there's the Blood Brother Ritual..."

"What is that?" Was that fear in his eyes? What was the Blood Brother Ritual? It sounded like a cult and then he suddenly wondered what he had gotten himself into.

"I don't exactly know." Cannalily said. "It's something I've not seen done before, but it's something required for outsiders to join, and for outsiders to be in relationships with cats in NightClan. Larkwing and Burningstar could tell you more about it."
"Will you take me to them?" He asked but he wasn't completely sure that this is what he wanted. He would have to leave his carefree life behind and commit himself to a place he knew next to nothing about. Perhaps he could ask them some questions and if he still wanted to live as a rogue, he could. Though a clan sounded nice. Being a rogue meant defending himself and being on his own. Having a clan that has your back was much more than what he had.

"Of course I'll take you to them!" She said happily. This was great, a new member of the Clan would be so helpful, especially a strong, young, dashing rogue like Shadow! She stood up and began to lead him back. She'd bring him to Larkwing first. Larkwing would be excited, right?
Shadow hesitantly followed Cannalily, hoping he was making the right choice.
Larkwing had just returned to camp from his walk. He had surprisingly missed Shadow and Cannalily altogether. But perhaps he wasn't going in that direction...maybe he was going to see someone else. He grabbed a mouse from the fresh-kill pile and settled down to eat when he heard a couple of pawsteps coming from the entrance. He perked his ears in curiosity. Who was coming in? He assumed it was just another warrior until he saw Cannalily stroll in with an unfamiliar tom. He stood, fur bristling as the scent of rogue hit his muzzle. Cannalily better have a good explanation as to why she was bringing in a rogue.

"Larkwing!" Cannalily called cheerily, completely missing the mood he was in. "I need to talk to you! Shadow here wants to join NightClan!" She was jumping the gun a bit but this was Cannalily, what could you expect?
Larkwing loved Cannalilly. She was his dearest friend. However, he wasn't sure he trusted this tom. His best friend just lead a rogue right to their camp. He narrowed his eyes, studying the tom. "You want to join Nightclan? Why?"
Shadow felt nervous but he didn't want to show his weakness. Not in front of the deputy. He politely dipped his head, then looked at Larkwing with his large green eyes. "Yes...I would like to join Nightclan if that is okay...I have grown out of the rogue life and would like to settle with a clan..."
Larkwing hesitated before answering. "You will have to go through the Blood Brother Ritual" he told the tom, seriousness in his eyes. "We have to know that you are willing to become one of us. One of the family. Are you willing to make that sacrifice?"
Shadow simply nodded. Then he asked, "What do you do during the Brother Blood Ritual?"
"You must choose a member of our clan to be bonded to as family. It can be anyone. Then you must go through a trial to test your bond. If you succeed, you will have to perform an exchange of blood. Therefore, that member will become your blood family." He explained. "If you choose to turn against your family later, that member that you are bonded to will receive the same punishment that you will." Frankly, Larkwing didn't care for the Brother Blood Ritual. However, that was the way things were in Nightclan and he was not leader yet so he had to enforce the rules.

"I volunteer." Cannalily said. "I'll be his family." She was doing a lot of things without thinking right now. Maybe it was desperation for friends, maybe it was just her short sightedness acting up. Or maybe there was more to her actions than she was letting on. Regardless, it seemed she was prepared to charge headfirst into a situation that she was underestimating.
Larkwing perked his ears in surprise. What had gotten into her? "Well...okay then" He agreed hesitantly, a look of uncertainty in his blue eyes. "I will graciously give you three sunrises to bond. After that, the test will begin. Good luck." He turned away and stalked toward the exit of camp. He wasn't hungry anymore. He had lost his appetite. He couldn't understand why he felt so hurt about the situation. She was only his friend and nothing more. He had stopped seeing Elsie, thinking that maybe they wouldn't work after all. Did he have feelings for Cannalilly? That doesn't make any sense. Now he saw her with a tom and it made him uncomfortable. But why? He thought as he disappeared into the forest.
Shadow look at Cannalilly with large green eyes. "So...do you want to give me a tour around? I have no clue where anything is."

"Okay!" Cannalily said. She began to guide him through the camp and point out each den and it's use. She skipped the fresh kill pile for now, thinking it would be best not to show him that yet.
"Ummm..." She thought for a minute. "Considering you're not officially in the Clan I'm not sure. Sleeping in the Warrior's den might put others on edge. I'd have to ask Larkwing."
