Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Wolfconstellation balanced carefully along the branch he was on, concentration contorting his entire face. His odd colored eyes were fixated on the careful movements of a squirrel. The pale gray tom's breath echoed in barely existant white wisps as he stalked towards the creature. It was scrawny, but not so much so that he would leave it untouched. One paw placement after another. One more step... and his feet were met by thin air. First was the plummet of his stomach, and next, his surprise.
A yowl of responded shock erupted from the tom as he tumbled downwards. Luckily, he hadn't been that high. And even more so luckily — or, unlucky, as some might see it — he landed in puddle of newly snowmelt. However that was bad for his thinly pelted fur. A shudder pulled from his spine, all the way up to his now flattened ears. Droplets clung to his already lanky and awkward frame, the water cold from the morning chill. "Mousedung," he cursed under his breath, hoping his moment of embarrassment hadn't been seen.
Pebblefur had been out on a stroll, in which she enjoyed often when she saw the tom balancing on a branch. She had stopped to watch, holding her breath as he made is way over it. Suddenly, he fell and her heart sunk. She breathed a sigh of relief when he stood up covered in water. She had to force back a laugh and rushed over to him. "Are you alright?" Although it was quite funny, she was still concerned that he may still be hurt.
His luck had evaded him, and with it, he felt his dignity slowly dwindle to a small husk. Wolfconstellation shook out his wet fur — fighting the intense burning sensation in his cheeks — before he made to move out of the water and over to the she-cat as she padded over. The lanky gray tom checked his entire body over, making sure nothing he couldn't feel had been bent out of shape awkwardly. Nope, all good. Sheepishly glancing back at the she-cat, he could tell she was deeply amused and instead opted to respond in a humorous manor as he responded, "I don't think so. Or, at least, nothing physical. My dignity and pride might be a bit broken though."
He chuckled, half to himself, and gave a small shrug. "I mean I'm pretty sure I yelled in surprise so.. me too I guess. I wasn't expecting anything like that to happen," he said, glancing up at where he had fallen. "Dumb squirrel."
He twitched his whiskers in thought and glanced down at himself. His fur was naturally short, so it wouldn't take too long to dry out. Though he was cold. "Actually, yeah, I could use a walk. My paws are more cold than my actually body. So I small walk should help me warm up a bit."
"Would you like to accompany me on my walk? I was just enjoying a stroll when I saw you fall" she invited, hoping he would say yes. She could use some company.
It didn't take him but a moment to nod in answer to her question, "Yeah, I'll join you," he said as he padded towards the she-cat now to close to awkward distance. "I haven't really explored much of SummerClan anyways so... I could probably use a guide. Maybe it'll help with me constantly getting lost."
She laughed, "oh yes. I'm sure I can give you a tour." She lead him around to each land mark explaining everything about Summerclan. "I wasnt born in Summerclan, but ive spent a lot of time here." She told him while leading him around.
He flicked his ears curiously, tail waving a little bit. He knew how much of a taboo it was to be a Kittypet, but he was and always would be straightforward. Glancing at the sky, the pale tom said, "I wasn't born here, either. I lived with my Twoleg for a while before I came here. I prefer it in SummerClan, though. I enjoy everyone's company."
She was surprised that he had opened up to her about him being a previous kittypet, though she was never the one to judge. "My mother was a kittypet" she explained. "So in a way, I guess we are the same." She gave a small shrug with a warm smile.
He felt relieved at her reply, his expression softening a fraction as they padded on. "That's a relief. That you didn't overreact, I mean. I've had... erm... a couple of cats make some rude comments," he said sheepishly. "Compared to my weird habits of knowing a bit too much about the Stars and being a kittypet, I guess cats just like to tease. But its worth it when I meet kinder cats like you."
Her face softened to sympathy, "Some cats are so rude. I'm sorry they teased you." She gave a gentle smiled at his comment about her being kinder. "If you want my opinion, I think it's fascinating that you know so much about the starts." She looked up at the sky, her green eyes searching for the hidden stars. "It's amazing how they disappear during the day but come back out at night."
He shook his head, a small smile working on his maw. "Its alright. It just makes it much easier to appreciate kinder cats, and moments that you really do need to appreciate, y'know?" he said to ease her own worries, feeling bad for dragging her into his own dilemma. At the mention of Stars his eyes lit up with excitement, the way they always did when he was about to ramble on about them. "They're amazing! They're bright and mysterious, beautiful on clear nights — and there are so many of them. Just think, there's always something new, and always something you haven't ever seen before. You can even make pictures out of them. That's where my name came from, actually."
It made her happy to see him get excited about the stars and a purr rumbled in her throat. "That's so interesting! I'm assuming that yours makes out a wolf?"
He gave her a lopsided smile, his ears flicking in amusement as he shook his head. "No - I mean, sort of? Its supposed to be a dog.... but my mom thought a wolf sounded cooler," he said with a small snort. "Better than my sister's name; it was Ophelia," the gray tom said with a small, reminiscent sigh.
"Oh!" she purred, a little embarrassed that she had gotten it wrong. "I think a wolf does sound cooler" she complimented with a warm smile. "Where is your sister?"
He shook his head in amusement, giving a small sigh before responding with, "Yeah. I'm just happy to be named after something I really love, honestly." At the mention of his sister, he smiled a little morosely and glanced up at the drifting clouds. It wasn't like he avoided talking about his family — he just usually didn't bring them up. Glancing back at Pebblefur, he finally answered with a sort of melancholic smile, "She passed away, when I was about six moons old. It was before my Twoleg took me in. She didn't get as much out of life as she should have. I miss her, but it was a long time ago. At some point, you have to start living for the sake of the cats who can't anymore, you know? I know she would want me to life my life to the fullest."
Sorrow flashed in her eyes and her smile disappeared. "Oh...I-I am so sorry. I didn't mean-" She felt bad for asking about his sister. She assumed they decided to live different lives or something. Perhaps she should stop assuming.
