Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"So," Sunpaw started, turning her gaze to Crimsonkit. "Brick and I had been travelling together for about a moon at this point. Already he'd become like a father to me. We were passing through this kind of desert scrub kind of area on our way to what we hoped would be better hunting grounds. Prey had been scarce there, and we were very hungry, but we had come too far in to turn back." She stopped for a second, her heart aching. Talking about Brick was always bittersweet.

Crimsonkit swallowed his bite of mouse, his eyes wide. "Then what did you do?" The thought of being in a place that had little food and nowhere to turn frightened him a little.
"Well, I was still very young, about your age in fact, so Brick would often leave me alone to go hunt. I was told to stay in a crevice we'd found. It was too small for coyotes to get into, so I was fairly safe. However, I saw a mouse scurrying about outside. All I could think about was how proud Brick would be if I had a mouse when he got back." She continued, her blue eyes distant.

"Then what happened? Did any coyotes find you?" Crimsonkit asked eagerly. He had a good imagination and Sunpaw was a good storyteller. He felt almost as if he were there.

Sunpaw's whiskers twitched with amusement at his excitement. "Well, I went after the mouse, stalking around it as quietly as I could, making sure the wind wasn't blowing my scent toward it. I was just about to pounce when..." She paused for dramatic effect, eyes wide to foreshadow what came next.
"The mouse turned toward me. I thought it had seen me and I froze, but it seemed to be staring past me, at a point up and to my left. Then..." she paused again. "SHRRIIIEEEK!" Sunpaw yowled, almost perfectly imitating a hawk's cry, startling a passing warrior.

The shriek startled the engrossed kit so much so that he nearly jumped right out of his fur. Crimsonkit tried his best to recover by asking, "What was it? Did it get you?"
Sunpaw crouched down to his level, eyes wide. "Almost, but the scary thing about hawks, is they won't cry out like that when they're coming for you. Normally, you won't know they're diving for you until you're already in their talons. Thankfully though, Brick had chosen a very opportune time to return." She explained. "I turned to find Brick wrestling with it as it tried to fly away with him. He yowled at me to run, but I couldn't just abandon him. I used a tree to jump and dig my claws into one of its legs. I was still very small at the time, but combined with Brick, we were just heavy enough to bring it down."

Crimsonkit's eyes were as big as moons. "Wow...." he mewed. He had never seen a hawk but he knew it was a large bird of prey infamous for snatching away straying kits. "Weren't you afraid it would fly away with you and eat you up?"

The red furred kit stood up and puffed out his chest. "I'm gonna be the bravest and most fierce warrior ever!" he boasted. "There won't be a hawk or fox or ... um... anything that won't be afraid of me!"

(I'm taking Crimsonkit out of the thread.)
"That was a great story!" Crimsonkit mewed. "I gotta go now. See ya later!" He got up and trotted off to the nursery. He didn't want to admit he was tired and wanted to take a nap.
Pantherclaw saw her former denmates sharing a meal and decided to stop over. "Hi! What's up? Entertaining kits?" she asked as she watched Crimsonkit leave.
