Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was odd to see Palmkit sitting still. Even while she slept, she was always kicking and flailing, it was a wonder how she was able to get a decent night's rest. Those around her probably didn't, but she was always full of energy. The orange and white tabby was currently playing with a moss ball at the side of the nursery. She had originally been in the middle of camp, but after a few collisions, she had been exiled to the less-populated side. It didn't matter, though.
She lowered herself to the ground, tail flicking, before launching herself at the ball. She tumbled, claws grasping the toy as she rolled onto her back, and she swatted it into the air. Unfortunately, she had been too eager in the movement and used a little more strength than she had meant, and the moss ball flew, landing on someone else's head.
Mothkit let out a startled squawk as the mossball hit the back of his head, sending the young tom whirling around to find whomever had thrown it at him. He looked around, spotting Palmkit looking sheepish. He had been enjoying a snooze in the weak sunlight of leaf-fall, only to be interrupted back flying foliage. Narrowing his eyes, he hooked the ball in his claws and flung it back in her direction, though there was a small smile on his face.
Palmkit had been sure that the other kit was going to yell at her - or worse, get a nursery aid to yell at her, so it was a pleasant surprise when Mothkit tossed the ball back to her. The sheepish smile turned into a full-on grin as she leapt slightly into the air, batting the moss ball back once more to Mothkit. Whether he had wanted to join in or not didn't matter, as Palmkit was now including him. "Sorry for waking you," she finally said, though her eyes shone with enjoyment, not an ounce of remorse to be found.
Mothkit gave a small shrug of his wide shoulders. He stretched a paw up, plucking the ball out of the air and kicking it back over. "It's okay, I needed to get up and move around anyway."
This time, as Palmkit hooked a claw into the moss ball to throw back, there was a glimmer of amusement in her eyes. "Well, maybe we should play a game then," she said, sending the ball back. "Either something else, or make this one more exciting. Got any ideas, sleepyhead?" Although she was already keeping her body busy, the muscles in her legs strived to move around more.
"My ideas are almost always bad ones," the brown masked toms huffed, ducked his head slightly. "Mossball might be our best bet if you wish to stay out of trouble."
All at once, all thoughts of the moss ball flew away from Palmkit as she tilted her head at Mothkit. "Oh, that sounds very promising," she said. "I'm not sure if I believe you, though." It was a challenge - anyone could see that. Palmkit already got in plenty of trouble because of her energy, so what was a little more trouble?
