Troublemaker looked back over his shoulder, laughing joyously as the patrol chased after him. He thought it was hilarious, but the rest of the cats.... not so much. It had just been a harmless little prank, one that had ended in most of the patrol getting soaked in a thick muddy slime. He now found himself being playfully chased by his victims whom wanted their revenge "A bit to slow to catc..........EEEEEPPPP"
The ground gave way below his feet, as he was sent tumbling down through the darkness. The rest of the patrol would hear a loud thud, followed by a loud piercing scream. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You have been randomly selected for a patrol :3 This is for the ongoing plot, so please respond in a timely manner Mountainsound -- Honeystorm Lavenderillusion -- pao Soaringlight -- Jadie Nutmegfreckle -- ashestoashes Dazzlepaw -- uniqcrim

Mountainsound wasn't altogether concerned so much about the mud. But since everyone else was determined to chase, the healer followed, only to hear a scream, from Troublemaker, it seemed. "What happened?" The blind healer questioned, stopping short, not knowing what was going on.

Troublemaker howled, sitting upright as blood seeped from his wounds. The hole wasn't that deep, but at the bottom of it was shards of some kind of sharp clear material. There was no where to stand comfortably, the shards of glass sticking from his side and paws even as he tried to stand. He use his tail to sweep away a place for his tender paws to touch the ground. The ground already turning red under him from the wounds. With a loud scream, he launched himself upwards, landing on his paws but pushing the glass further into his paws. He stumbled forward, then collapsed unable to hold up his weight any longer. He groaned loudly "Whatever you do, don't fall down there"
He looked like a porcupine, shards of clear glass sticking out at odd angles.
Soarlinglight knew that, as the Priestess Promised, she aught to be prepared to handle wounds like this. She was the Clan's healer-in-training descendent from a line of healers. However, see the glass shards sticking out of Troublemaker's paw made her right sick to her stomach and she had to look away.
No wonder Mountainsound is such a great healer. She doesn't have to see crap like this.
"Troublemaker... You need to watch where you are going!" Soaringlight defaulted to saying the obvious then took a deep breath and padded - carefully - toward the wounded tom, "Mountainsound, there are small pieces of what looks like ice sticking out of his paws, but it's hot and not melting. I think we need to take them out right away."

Troublemaker snorted, rolling over onto his side to take the pressure off of his paws that had been impaled by the strange substance “Yeah next time time I’ll watch for holes that have been covered up” he rolled his eyes, though his body language showed how much pain he was in. The way his legs were drawn up and tense, and the scowl that he wore “There wasn’t a hole there, it looked like solid ground. It just gave way as I went over it. What even is this stuff?” He lowered his muzzle to his injured paws to give it an experimental lick but only succeeded in giving his tongue a little cut as he jerked his head back “It’s sharper than any claw I have ever seen, and all the way around it’s edges”
"Quit nosing it and let the healers talk for a moment," Soaringlight snapped at Troublemaker as she booped him lightly on the head, a gentle physical scold, "You're squirming worse than most kits. I've never seen anything like this before and we need to strategize."

"Hmph" he protested, but did stop trying to mess with the strange material "You try sitting still with all of this sticking our of you" he retorted.
Troublemaker squirmed uncomfortably, but was trying to keep from moving to much as Mountainsound and Soaringlight spoke to one another. "Shouldn't it be just like a splinter? Just pull it out"
Soaringlight sighed. Mounatinsound wasn't giving her much direction and Troublemaker wasn't being patience.
"I guess it can't be much different than a splinter," She yielded, reaching for Troublemaker's paw and touching the piecing of glass softly. She tried to grip it with her claw but found no purchase as she'd expected, "I'll have to use my teeth and you'll have to hold completely skill or you'll poke my eye out. You think you can do that for me?"
Troublemaker was still flinching, though it was an automatic reaction rather than him trying to pull away or being difficult. Several pieced were lodged in deep into his feet, hitting nerves, muscles, and who knew what all else. The orange tabby sighed "I can try" tensing up his leg in preparation trying to make it hold still, knowing that this was probably going to hurt a lot

Dazzlepaw had been standing in the same spot, frozen and shell-shocked throughout the whole thing. One might assume the red she-cat even froze to the ground. "Are you sure that's a good idea?" She would never pass up an opportunity to question the judgement of anyone with more power than her. "I'm no healer but, uh, if you don't know what it is then it seems dangerous."

Nutmegfreckle looked anxious at seeing a sight like this. "Uh is there anything I can do to help? I mean I can hold him down if need be so you can pull that thing out." It was times like these the she cat was happy to not be a medicine cat or anything close to it. Not all but some of this stuff made her squeamish.

Troublemaker shot Nutmegfrckle a look “No thank you” he scrunched up his nose. He hated being confined and would rather sit still than have to be held down. “I’ll stay still” he gritted his teeth, “but shouldn’t you give me something for pain first?”
First the catnip was restricted, now this, Lavenderillusion was just not having a great day. The poor she-cat had been in a grumpy mood since her supplies of catnip had been collected by the medicine cats due to an herb shortage, especially with cat nip. So really, it shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone that she was more irritable and grumpy as of late. Being covered in mud was so not helping with her mood. Seeing someone injured, and knowing that meant they'd get herbs she perked up. Calling out to Troublemaker she asked, "can I have your catnip? I'm sure you don't need it for...whatever that is." She eyed the glass, unsure what to call it but was sure it'd get the other cat some catnip for healing and also sure Troublemaker wouldn't need it as much as Lavdenerillusion would appreciate having it.
Soaringlight knew it was dangerous to remove this item from Troublemaker's paws. Littlestar had thought her that if someone is impaled or has something stuck in them, it's best to move the cat somewhere prepared to tend to them before removing the item or else risk them bleeding out. The problem was that, due to the nature of the foreign objects, moving Troublemaker was quite risky. The shards were slick and sure to slide in deeper as they traveled and cause even more damage, and there were lots of them.
"Try to gather moss or cobwebs or leaves, anything I can use to dress the wounds once I get the pieces out. Whoever is the fastest should also to run ahead to the main camp and alert Littlestar so she's ready when we get there."
Now for the surgery... after taking a deep breath, the cinder-colored she-cat gripped a shard and slowly pulled it out.

Dazzlepaw wasn't entirely sure if her stomach would hold through any kind of surgery. Honestly, she didn't want to sit around and find out either. "I'll go!" She volunteered. She was pretty swift and smaller than the other cats as an apprentice too. "I'll go tell Littlestar now!" She called out before Soaringlight could extract the strange item. Her stomach turned at the thought.
Before long, the russet red she-cat burst into the main camp, short of breath. "Littlestar!" She called, looking around for the high priestess.

"I'll go get some cobwebs or leaves, I shall be back quickly!" With that the she cat got up rushing towards the forest to look for anything that could help the cats in this dire moment. Would she be able to find some in time? Would Troublemaker be okay? Part of her wanted to believe he would live but a smaller part of her feared it was already to late...

The orange tom winced as the first of the shards slid out of his skin. He managed to remain still for the most part, but a little groan of protest escaped his lips. A thin stream of blood ran from the wound, the object causing more damage below the surface of the skin than it appeared to have from the outside. He had to resist the urge to flex his claws, trying to be brave and not show just how bad it had hurt "See just like a splinter" he huffed, trying to make light of the situation Keeping his eyes up and not where Soaringlight was working
"Not quite, but keep being optimistic," Soaringlight said as she continued to work on the paws. It took her about fifteen minutes to extract all of the biggest pieces but the smaller ones were especially stubborn and hard to grip. She was realizing very quickly that getting all of these pieces out using her claws and fangs was just not realistic. After trying for a bit longer she gave up and pulled back, giving Troublemaker a sort of resigned look, "I've done the best I can do with what I have, but I know I didn't get all the pieces. Littlestar may be able to pull a few more out but I'm afraid your body may have to do the rest of the work. At any rate, we had better get you back to camp as soon as possible... we'll just have to move slow. You can lean on my shoulder if you want."

By the time Soaringlight was done, Troublemaker was already going light headed from the loss of blood and pain. He reluctantly nodded, head swimming and nauseous enough to keep even him quiet as he forced himself slowly to his paws leaning against Soaringlight. Normally he would had tried to just tough it out, but with all of his limbs so sore and compromised he didn't feel to ashamed to take the help. He stumbled forward a few steps "Maybe it would be better if you..." the toms face began to loose color, falling to the ground. One of his front paws was bleeding, crimson seeping out onto the sand below. A yowl of pain escaped his lips as he collapsed back onto the ground. His sides rising and falling for a few more moments, before remaining still
