Just as Celestialglow spoke, he saw first the ears and then the head of a rabbit barely above the tall grass. Excitement rippled through his fur. He tested the air and found the current was favorable for them. "Wait here and I'll drive it toward you," Cutthroat whispered before stalking silently away. It took some time and maneuvering but he finally got to a place where he was satisfied. The rabbit lay directly between the two cats. He raised his tail as a signal to Celestialglow then he was off, yowling as he went. The startled rabbit bolted and headed in a general direction toward Celestialglow.
Celestialglow studied the zigzag motion of the rabbit then launched and landed squarely on it. But before she could bite down, the rabbit scratched her face and she almost lost grip until she finally managed to kill it. She stood up, panting as blood trickled from a scratch above her eye.

"Looks like that rabbit had a bit of a fight in it," Cutthroat commented as he trotted up to Celestialglow. "It didn't get your eye, did it?" he asked when he came closer. Concern shown in his own eyes as he looked at her.

Cutthroat was relieved to see she was alright. "I don't blame it," he meowed. "I wouldn't want to be a meal either." He thought back to the fox they had just recently fought. "That fox wanted cat meat for dinner so I guess I know how that rabbit felt."

"That's for sure," Cutthroat agreed. "That and the one I caught." As he watched Celestialglow, he seemed to appreciate her more. "You're a good hunter. We make a good team." He gave her a quick smile.
"Your right" She agreed. "And yes, we do" she added giving him a warm smile which was unusual for the spunky she-cat. "We should get these back to camp."

"Yes, let's," he agreed. Cutthroat was feeling lighter than he every had before and he wondered why. He was normally pretty sullen but right now he felt right jovial. With a smile and a shrug of he shoulders, he picked up his rabbit and started walking back to the camp.

"I agree," Cutthroat said after placing his catch on the pile. "Let's make it sooner rather than later. But for right now I could use a nice catnap." He was feeling a bit drowsy after his hunt and a yawn escaped from his mouth.

A smile lit up his face. The sound of food sounded good and sharing it with Celestialglow made it sound even better. "Yes, that would be great," he meowed, accepting her invitation. "You pick out something that looks good to you and we can eat it in this patch of sun." He point to a sunny spot near the camp wall.
She returned his smile and pulled out one of the rabbits they had caught and padded over to the path of light and settled down. "Do you want the first bite?" She asked since she had chosen the prey.

"Thanks," Cutthroat replied as he took a bite from behind one of the shoulders. "Umm, good choice," he mewed as he chewed his bit of meat. He closed his eyes as he savored the fresh, sweet meat. "What can be better than sharing fresh prey with a good friend?"
"I agree" she purred taking a bite for herself. Then, after she swallowed, she cleared her throat "so uh...do you have a family of your own?" She tried not to make it sound so awkward but she failed.

A smile crossed Cutthroat's face and his heart beat quickened at her words. He was amused by Celestialglow's awkwardness. This self assured cat he had met while fighting a fox now seemed to act a bit timid. "If you're asking if I have a mate and kits, the answer is no." He paused briefly before he continued. "I'm just waiting for the right she cat to come along." His eyes seemed to sparkle as he spoke. "So how about you? So uh ... do you have a family of your own?" he asked using the same words she had.
She laughed as he used the same words she had. "Nah. I'm waiting for the right one too. Besides, until the right tom comes along and changes my mind, I refuse to stay in the nursery with a pawful of mischievious kits. Though, my perspective may change if I meet the right tom." She was usually very sure of herself and quite confident. But this tom definitely took that sureness away but in a good way.

A smile crept across Cutthroat's face. "That's one problem, if you can call it that, I won't have to face. I was in a nursery once and that was enough." A playfulness sparkled in his eyes as he took another bite of the tasty rabbit.
