THE BROOKCLAN RELIGION
BROOKCLAN RELIGIOUS ROLEPLAY POSITION DESCRIPTIONSGENERAL NOTES ON THE POSITIONS / CONCEPTS :-- Religion to the Monarchy is similar to what the Catholic Church was to the monarchies in medieval Europe. That is to say that the Ut Religionous felines are very powerful and have more influence on the Tsar as the Tsar tries to stay in good faith of the Old Ones. There are other parallels to the Church of pre-modernity in Europe. However, the basis of the religion is not intended to be solely like the Church of this historical period, so there are some significant changes. Ideas like heresy being such a problem, though, are taken from the historical context of Europe as the Monarchy is meant to model parts of Medieval Europe.
--The Ut Religionous is strictly male. There are no female characters in this rank. The ranks cannot go to any feline who previously has a mate and children.
-- In a hierarchical sense, the High Priest has the religious power equivalent to the Tsar and the Curate has the religious power of the Boyar.
-- Because these positions will become integral parts of the Monarchy, each person with this position will be required to have two active ( more than ten replies) threads per activity check. In addition to that, all half-moon, Fumus, and Benedicto Temporis ceremonies are required for these positions.
-- You are encouraged to create plots with these cats that revolve around the core purposes of the positions.
REMINDERS OF CORE JOBS BEYOND CEREMONIES:The High Priest :
Advise the Cyd, Tsar, and other members of the highest council of BrookClan. Sit as judge for Religious Crime trials. Perform Confiteor, or Confessions, for those who seek to confess their transgressions. Provide major blessings not involved in ceremonies, such as blessings over the sick and dying. Lead funeral rites. Train the Curate.
The Curate :
Assist the High Priest whenever requested. Provide religious counsel for any member of the Monarchy. Provide minor blessings such as mateship blessings. Assist in funeral rites. Train the Magistratus.
The Magistratus:
Assist in any way the Curate requests. Provide protection and support for the Curate and High Priest. Learn religious rules from the Curate. Prosecute all religious crime cases. Perform religious executions.
THE BROOKCLAN GODS INFORMATIONGENERAL INFORMATIONThe Gods are the BrookClan deities that control the Old Ones. This is the fleshed out basis for the BrookClan religion.
Each cat is dedicated at birth to one of the four deities. A litter of cats much each worship a different deity. Because there are four deities you may not always be able to have a litter of kittens that each worship a different God if your litters above four. If your litter is above four one of your kittens may worship the same God as the other kitten.
Often, a cat grows up to have the same major characteristics or values as the deity in which they were dedicated to. EX: Cynder, who was dedicated to the God of Chaos, is chaotic. However, this is not always the case. If a kitten grows up with contradictory values to the god they were assigned, they can challenge their birth assignment. This will be done in the form of a ceremony, where the young feline questioning their alignment will be visited by the gods.
Cats will sacrifice and pray to the God they are dedicated to as well as seek guidance. in specific circumstances [ ie : a great conflict ] any god may choose to show themselves to someone outside of those dedicated to them. This is mostly done with the leadership, medical and religious staff. If a God shows themselves to a feline not dedicated to them that does not have a position, this is considered a message that is imperative.
If a cat is promoted to a leadership, medical or UT position, they will be re-dedicated to the God of Balance, as the positions require a balance of the four deities’ perspectives EX: Kerrigan, who was once dedicated to the God of Order, was rededicated to the God of Balance once she became Tsar. However, she still carries with her a lot of the characteristics she developed under the God of Order.
Each month, there will be five missions. These missions are sent from the gods, and only cats dedicated to a particular god may participate. At the beginning of these mission threads, the god will assert what he or she wishes their followers to do. [ EX: The God of Death orders his/her followers to do go to the Haunted Brook to help to release the soul of a deceased cat who was trapped in the brook in which they died. Only those dedicated to the God of Death may participate in that mission. ] The god can also participate in the thread as little or as much as needed to guide the cats in their mission. The roleplayer of the god will be the one who creates the missions.
Cats can call on their deity for guidance / strength / etc. The God will decide for his or herself whether they want to come However, it is not in the god’s interest to be silent each time their children call [ both because it would lead their dedicated children to stop following them and because it would lead to demotion if ya don’t participate in threads in which the deity is expressly needed ]
If the Monarchy has done something to a god angry, they will send a punishment to the Monarchy unless something is done to appease them. [ Shattered angered the God of Order. Had she not been executed to appease the God of Order, he could have done something like send down a plague of infertility. ] Any time anything bad happens, it can be safely assumed that one or more of the gods is angry. In times of excess and bounty, all of the gods are contented, etc.
The Gods are PLAYABLE CHARACTERS, meaning that there will be roleplay tryouts. If selected, the user is expected to meet criteria to keep the position like an activity minimum which will include participating in threads where they are directly involved or they can be rped visiting cats in their dreams, etc.

THE GOD OF EQUALITY, BALANCE AND CREATION. NIVET IS THE EASIEST GOD TO ANGER; ANY TIME THINGS GET OUT OF BALANCE THEY BECOME UNCOMFORTABLE.
THEY ARE THE SLOWEST GOD TO ACT, PREFERRING PEACE OVER CONFLICT. THEY SELDOM PUNISH CATS FOR DEFYING THEM, INSTEAD WORK TO REINSTATE BALANCE IN WHATEVER WAY NEEDED. THEY ARE THE MOST POWERFUL OF THE GODS, POSSESSING ASPECTS OF EACH GOD THAT THEY HAVE MADE. OFTENTIMES, NIVET APPEARS AS FEMALE, ALTHOUGH THEY LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE GENDER SPECTRUM AND CAN APPEAR AS EITHER GENDER.
NIVET IS CONSIDERED THE MOTHER OF ALL FELINES, BOTH DIVINE AND OTHERWISE.
Nivet’s powers increase during the equinoxes and are least powerful during the solstices. The Festival of Nivet occurs during New Years, when the past and future are balanced and Nivet is at their strongest.
As Chief Divinity, Nivet is the most powerful god. Their role is akin to Tsar. They have the most power to appear to those outside of the group of felines specifically dedicated to them and is the most likely to such. Having Nivet appear before one is considered lucky.
They give the most prophetic warnings, though they often appear accompanied by a lesser god.
VALUES: Balance, logic, neutrality, charisma, loyalty, impartiality, intelligence
ABILITIES : appear corporeal, visual projection, and use the abilities of their sons and daughters, can lessen the effects of their children's powers if needed to protect the mortals
ONLY HIGH RANKING FELINES MAY BE DEDICATED TO NIVET. THE GOD OF LIFE - CAUIL caw-eel [ USERNAME ] / MANUL / MALETHE GOD OF LIFE AND REGENERATION. CAUIL WAS THE FIRST GOD CREATED BY NIVET, AND IS OFTEN CONSIDERED THE GOD OF SUFFERING OR MISFORTUNE.
His powers increase during Spring, during which Festival of Cauil occurs, and is most powerful on the Spring Equinox.
Those dedicated to Cauil are often times warned to have a very difficult live in which many obstacles will present themselves. It is believed that only through misfortune and suffering may cats grow stronger.
VALUES : Challenging circumstances, overcoming difficulties, personal growth, misfortune
ABILITIES : Creation of life, transmutation
THE GOD OF DEATH - MARLI mar-lee [ USERNAME ] / BLACK-FOOTED CAT / FEMALE
THE GOD OF DEATH AND MERCY. MARLI IS THE MOST PATIENT AND UNDERSTANDING. SHE COMMITS THE FINAL JUDGEMENT UPON DEATH. DESPITE BEING THE GOD OF DEATH, SHE IS KNOWN TO DEFEND THE LIVING.
The Festival of Marli occurs in Autumn, during which Marli’s powers increase. She is most powerful on the Autumn equinox.
Disciples of Marli are often the most empathic and patient towards others.They believe the world can only be changed through good acts, and have a tendency to support the underdogs. Most who acquire medical positions were dedicated to Marli in their infancy.
VALUES : Empathy, kindness, mercy, patience, understanding, helpfulness, humbleness
ABILITIES : Healing, manipulation of emotions
THE GOD OF CHAOS - TIVERONAH tiv-ehr-own-ah [ XXSAPPHIRE ] / OCELOT / FEMALETHE GOD OF CHAOS AND DISORDER. TIVERONAH IS THE YOUNGEST OF THE GODS AND THRIVES ON CHAOS. SHE IS THE TROUBLE-MAKER GOD, AND IF THERE IS A TIME TOO LONG OF PEACE, SHE IS KNOWN TO CHANGE THAT QUICKLY.
The Festival of Tiveronah occurs in Summer, during which Tiveronah’s powers increase. She is most powerful on the Summer solstice.
Those dedicated to Tiveronah are generally cats with grey morality at best. Even though these cats are impish in nature, they do not break the core laws of BrookClan. Their chaos, then, is controlled.
VALUES : Spontaneity, casualness, excitement, charm, confidence, instigation
ABILITIES : Cognitive manipulation, elemental influence
THE GOD OF ORDER - DEVONEI dehv-oh-nay [ USERNAME ] / RUSTY-SPOTTED CAT / MALETHE GOD OF THE RULE OF LAW AND PUNISHMENT. HE IS THE CRUELEST OF THE GODS AS HE HAS NO PATIENCE FOR THOSE WHO BREAK THE RULES.
The Festival of Devonei occurs in Winter, during which Devonei’s powers increase. He is most powerful on the Winter solstice.
Cats dedicated to Devonei follow the law as it is written. They are the ones who demand justice and recompense for the sins committed against the group. They are often the least tolerant of the felines and they often have a low value for life itself. These cats are often merciless. Most felines that go on to be selected as the Ut Religiousness were first dedicated to Devonei.
VALUES : Law, order, meticulousness, business, thoroughness.
ABILITIES : Destruction, punishment. Devonei can do anything from inflicting infertility to elemental influence if it is done to punish against the transgressions
IMPORTANT NOTESNote : God is used as a gender neutral term.
-- The counter parts do not get along. Each of the divine, apart from Nivet, prefers imbalance to balance, as it would increase their own power. Cauil and Devonei particularly don’t like their counterparts, because when Nivet created Marli and Tiveronah, Cauil and Devonei lost supremacy. Tiveronah does not like Devonei because she despises the systems of order that inspired her death. Marli is the most neutral.
-- The powers of the gods are limited. They are only to be used for plot purposes.
-- The Gods and the subsequent Old Ones are ONLY TO BE ROLEPLAYED on BrookClan pages. The gods do not exist outside of the Monarchy.
-- The BrookClan cats were asked to assimilate to this culture once they merged with the Monarchy after their devistation. However, some BrookClan cats may choose to privately believe in StarClan, as would have been their tradition since birth before the merge of the two separate entities into one.
-- Standard cats may not be dedicated to Nivet, as they are the god of the higher ranked felines.
