The tom waited silently in the training hollow for his apprentice, ebony tail curled around equally as dark paws. Zendikdominance didn't mind being given an apprentice, though he would have preferred not to have one if actually given the choice. Mostly due to wanting to do things that helped him, not obey the whims of his mother. But, all the same, he couldn't lie and say he wasn't interested to get to know Lovepaw. After all, if he recalled, Lovepaw's litter had lost their mother some time ago. She'd simply up and disappeared, and no one had any inclination of where she'd gone.
It wasn't long before the long furred tom appeared before his new mentor. He lowered his head deeply in a respectful bow, "Zendikdominance, thank you for agreeing to be my mentor. I do hope that I am not to much of an inconvenience"
Lovepaw straightened up, his pale silver eyes meeting the gaze of his new teacher "It is a great honor to be able to learn from you" he smiled a little. It was little wonder that cats were drawn to him. His warmth and respectful tone, making even the most shy cats feel flattered. Not to mention his dashing good looks caught the attention of all whoms gaze landed upon him.
Most cats in his position would have been rather vain, yet he remained humble and confident.

A charming smile of his own spread across the shadow cat's face, enchanting violet eyes twinkling with playful mischief. Rising to his paws with a natural grace, the Priestess' son swept immediately into a low, theatrical bow, one paw over his heart as he leaned forward, face to the ground. "Greetings, Lovepaw." The tom purred, his deep voice silvery smooth and seeming to reverberate through the very trees that surrounded them. With the same easy, fluid movement, the tom's head rose, his smile widening just a fraction before he leaned back, rising up to his full height. "Do not fear. Your presence is no burden at all. I am delighted to train the youth of today into the warriors of tomorrow."
It was no question at all how they'd been chosen as a pair. In a way, they were almost the same cat, for both were handsome, charismatic individuals who eroded the walls of every cat they met. Of course, they had their differences, but Zendikdominance expected things to go well enough between them, despite where they might branch off in their personalities.
It was an honor to have the Priestess' son bow to, but to bow to a newly named apprentice even more so. A little smile tugged at the edges of his lips, although he tried not to betray his inner thoughts. If this cat was to be his mentor, the last thing he wanted was for him to think that he was just another cat trying to use him to climb up the ladder of power.
"I can only hope to live up to your high expectations" a purr rumbled deep in his throat. That much was true, in order to protect his family he needed power within the clan, and to hone his skills. He needed to make the most of his abilities.

"I don't think I'll have to worry about that." The tom assured, a light laugh escaping him. He didn't doubt there was more to Lovepaw than charm. After all, the warrior used it explicitly to disarm others and get what he wanted, so it wouldn't surprise him that his apprentice had similar ideals. Where they differed, was that Zendikdominance wasn't so much looking for power. He was a model son, and Foxstar treated him well enough for it, such that he needn't worry about his place in SunClan. "So, if I may be so forward, what are your goals in life? Find a mate, become High Priest, just cause a bit of mischief?" His tail twitched for Lovepaw to follow him. They'd return to the hollow for some training later. For now, he wanted to get to know the tom he was to train a bit more. And, truly, he was curious as to how Lovepaw would answer. While he would learn some from the answer the tom gave, he expected to learn a lot more by how his apprentice chose to phrase his desires, and what he chose to include, or exclude, for that matter.
He tilted his head slightly as the two of them began to walk. The question had caught him slightly off guard, for most mentors cared little for what their apprentices wanted "Well at then end of the day, I would say my goals are rather simple" he paused, wanting to make sure that he phrased his next words carefully
"I want my family to be safe and happy" his pale silver eyes then fell upon Zendikdominance, "and what of you? What is it that you seek in this life? Surely there is more to you than simply being your mother's son" most apprentices would not have questioned their mentor so, but if Zendikdominance wanted to press into his personal thoughts, he would do the same.

"A commendable goal to be sure. And I'm sure you have ideas already of how to accomplish that." That was one way in which they differed. Foxstar's kin, at least the younger generations, were hardly so sentimental. They were a means to an end, an the wiser among them knew it. The rest liked to live their happy fantasies of closeness with their relatives or littermates. He, as it so happened, was one of the wiser. Sure, he had Zoeticobliteration, but they rarely spoke, such was the trend with the rest of his family. They tended to be more of a convenience than a binding force, and were hardly so loyal to each other as Lovepaw seemed to be to his siblings.
Ah, his apprentice had turned the question around now. That was the question wasn't it, what he wanted. Ironically, he hardly had any idea of that at all. "I suppose I desire for a bit of vibrancy and fun, myself. Everything is rather boring if you confine yourself only to rules and obedience, isn't it? May as well make the time enjoyable while we're here." Beyond that, he guess that he was still figuring it out.
"Vibrancy and fun..." not quite the answer he had been expecting, but not that out there. He supposed everyone wanted a little but of fun in their life, but to have that as their big goal? No, more than likely the other tom wasn't sure what he wanted from this life. It was a little sad, but who was he to judge? "Might as well enjoy your life while you have it" he agreed.
Lovepaw trotted to keep up with the pace his new mentor had set. "Although I have found that if one puts to much of an emphasis on having fun, they might forget to prepare themselves for the more unpleasant side of life"

Zendikdominance shrugged. "I've survived watching my clanmates and friends burn to death in front of me, watching these forests in flames around me. I don't suppose it gets more unpleasant that, does it?" Indeed, the charred remains of the trees dominated this corner of the territory. They were a testament to a time before the Sun, when StarClan had reigned supreme. Of course, the stars had failed them, and the Sun had been left to pick up the pieces. That had been a defining moment in their history, from past to present, and it had only cost the lives of their clanmates to get to this point, right?
"As terrible as that sounds, there are worst things that could happen" he thought back to how he and his siblings had been abused by the one who should have loved and protected them. How no one had noticed the bruises and scars, as they suffered. How she had pushed and pushed until they had to choose. It was them or her, they couldn't both continue to exist.
He and his siblings had done the unthinkable, and he had no regrets. He had protected his family, though no one but they knew the truth. As far as the rest of the clan was concerned, she had simply disappeared on day, leaving behind a litter of orphans.

"Indeed. But the worst things that happen are the things you have no control over, and fire is controlled by no one but the Sun himself." The first part of Zendikdominance's statement was something they could both likely agree on. When you didn't have control is when things seemed hopeless and one got desperate. "That's what training is for, to give you the tools to deal with situations, ones you can control, and even those inevitable ones you can't."
Although he disagreed, he didn't voice his opinion. No there were worse things than things that were beyond your control. Perhaps if there mother had died in an accident or of natural causes he could have forgiven himself... No they had chosen to kill her, chosen to walk down a dark path. He kept his thoughts to himself, the only indication was a slight flicker of his eyes.
"Yes training will help me be more prepared" that much they could agree upon. It would also give him what he needed to protect his family.
"Then we haven't time to waste getting started I suppose. We'll be heading out of the territory and come back later. I want to familiarize you with the rogue lands a bit, since I'm sure you'll find yourself there sooner or later." He answered, already looking on ahead as he walked, perhaps searching for something specific.
"As you wish" he shrugged, following after his mentor. The choice to go to the rouge lands seemed like an odd choice to him, but he would have to trust in his mentor if that is what they wanted to do. Besides it looked like the tom had something in mind the way he was looking around.
