Ava washed her dark tabby pelt and she looked out at the league. She could see some of her children moving about. Batair-kun working hard under his father as the assassin successor, making pride bloom in her chest. Blair-kun had gathered plenty of trophies of his own, and her other children were coming along well. Even her little Arima-kun who had to be taken into Cyra's litter had grown into a strong tough hunter.
But her children and mates strength aside, Ava's eyes looked over the cats, the league was filled with cats of varying degrees of insanity. And those with ambitions that could prove... troublesome.
So in order to ensure the continued wellbeing of her beloved mate and kits, she would keep her eyes and ears open, watching the league for any signs that someone might trouble her Arden, or their wonderful children.

"Looking over the lovely family?" Without any prompting, the black shape of Elleth plopped down into a sit beside the other she cat, her sunflower yellow eyes waiting with slight amusement to see the she cat's reaction to her invasion of personal space that had been done with an odd amount of friendliness despite how annoying it likely was. "Your family is nice and safe under the 'golden' protection spell. Must be nice." The comment was sly, though her tone was oddly genuine.

"It must be."
It was that unmistakable voice that spoke from behind the she-cat, seeming to materialize out of nowhere. The Nemesis regarded her daughter-in-law with a glimmering gaze; Ava was really the only of her children's mates that she approved of. The rest, she tolerated. Despite this, however, Vera did not know Ava on a personal level, and she figured it was time for that to change. Given that she could no longer trust anyone, Vera wanted to know exactly who was entering and leaving her family.
Her chilling words were spoken towards Elleth, whom she now turned her haunting gaze upon. Vera E'tani's expression sent a clear cut message: do not speak of her family.

Elleth blinked, not even needing to turn around (although turning around only made it worse) to realize she may have kind of maybe messed up on her timing on when to randomly set herself at the side of the mate of one of Vera's kits. Of course with all the times she slid right beside another cat without them really wanting her existence anywhere near them it was bound to probably happen eventually, but it didn't change the chill down her spine as she started to mentally debate if this was bad enough to put her on a list of cats to go disappearing into the night. She didn't so, but also she wasn't about to try her luck.
"Mhmm. You know I think I'm done taking my five second break. I'm going to go hunting now, hope you both have an absolutely wonderful day." Trying not to panic as she not-so-slowly back away and started for the exit to the ruins.
Ava didn't even flinch when Elleth slid into her space side eyeing the other cat for a moment. Then holding back a purr of amusement when she skittered off at Vera's presence.
Ava turned to Vera. Her whiskers twitched wondering what made the nemesis grace her with her presence. "I appreciate that, wasn't in the mood to go wash off some blood from my paws." She meowed. She debated what to say, she'd had so little conversations with the nemesis she wondered what she would be interested in discussing. Ava's entire existence revolved around Arden, and her kits. of course as Arden's mother, Vera would likely have a passing interest in Ava. But until now the two hadn't interacted much.

Vera's amusement was well masked as she watched Elleth make her getaway. The humor was short lived as Vera refocused her attention to Ava, her chartreuse gaze locking with her daughter-in-law's.
"How are you, Ava?" she questioned, tilting her head to the side. Despite their minimal interactions, Ava was family, and family still held a place in Vera's priorities.
"I am well," Ava meowed dipping her head respectfully. Even though Arden was her whole world, Ava felt... very little towards Vera.
Respect was there, along with a recognition that she had the power to make Ava's life difficult or cut short, along with her mate and kits. That was enough to warrant bare minimum respect. Add in Vera being Arden's mother and that there seemed to be at least a bond between mother and child there, Ava would not speak out of turn to the nemesis.
"My kits are showing excellent progress, Arden is training Batair to follow in his pawsteps, and overall I couldn't be more proud." Ava meowed. "I am content with what I have overall. I do wish I could have more time with Arden, but I know this is what he wants and when he's happy... well I feel happy."
The statement on her being happy wasn't entirely true. Ava often times had trouble feeling emotion. More often than not she felt a need for something. Like she'd needed to have Arden as her mate (and would've shred any she cat who tried to take him from her, and any cat who threatened him). And once she had him, well she let his emotions be her emotions. This made her... content. Like when she was with Arden, or with her kits she felt like a piece of herself that had been missing was back in place.
This made her pause, and glance towards Vera. The nemesis had lost a litter in the fire, and had seemed to be grappling with some struggles. Ava wondered if perhaps Vera was checking up on her family. Making sure all was in order and well.

No physical evidence was produced, but at the mention of healthy kits, the Nemesis inhaled ever so slightly sharper. Then, a ghost of a smile played her expression. Not because Ava was happy -- truth be told, Vera could probably not care less about the happiness of her daughter-in-law. What she did care about, however, was her son and his happiness, and now, her grandchildren, and their happiness. They were blood; Ava was not. But, because she was of value to cats of her blood, her life was of value to Vera.
"You feel happy," she repeated, slowly. Her gaze narrowed slightly. "Ava, if there is nothing else but this between us, it is an understanding that we both place an infinite value on Arden. But, content? My son would never go after someone with such a lack of drive. Come now, what is it about you that has ensnared my Arden? What are your ambitions? More importantly," she continued, her unnerving gaze intensifying, "what is it that you want from him?"
