Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Stupid medicine cat, he could remember herbs, he wasn't a fur brain like some of the other cats around here.
Borage leaves, honey, and mouse bile.
Borage leaves, honey, and mouse bile.
He repeated the items in his head, these were the items Mistyveil had told him to keep an eye when he was gallivanting about, whatever the heck that meant.
Borage leaves, honey, and mouse bile.
StarClan, it was so easy to remember, Mistyveil must really think he was thick in the head that he couldn't remember something like that!
He rammed into something fluffy and took a step back only to realize he had, none too gently, bonked right into a Bearspirit. His muscular build, hemming way paws, and thick furred body made it easy for him to remain still as a rock while for the poor had probably felt like they had been rammed by a badger. He let out a snort of frosted air, "Snow bunny, watch where you're going next time, I'm trying to remember borage weeds, sunny, and mouse vile..."
Barrenfrost slowly narrowed his eyes. They were like ice, cold, but if splintered could send you into freezing oblivion. He put a white paw to his face, "Mouse dung, are you serious, you made me forget the whole thing! Now what am I going to do?" He groaned.
Up close the tom looked like a snow leopard in both mass and looks with his silvery coat and darker dappled spots. There was a a certain majestic look to him that didn't quite translate into grace, but he was impressive to look at even if his attitude wasn't.
Bearspirit had finally found an excuse to leave the strict confines of the camp; a pleasant, quiet, beautiful walk, how had she never thought of it before? But she was suddenly jarred out of her peaceful thought, as she felt something crash into her. Startled was an understatement, as she let out a loud yelp. Well, that was a new experience - she had never been the bonkee, always the bonker. She whirled around, mouth opening to say something, before pausing as he rambled off words that almost sounded like actual words. "That's a new one - I've never been told that I've made somebody forget something after running into them - or in your case, being run into." Her tail tip flicked as she looked Barrenfrost up and down, before meeting his eyes again, with a tilt in her chin. "You seem a bit lost, buddy, so why don't I help you out?" Her tone had a caustic mirth to it, as her eyes narrowed. She had heard of Barrenfrost from others - his blood was a mix of Primal Instinct and a long forgotten Clan and this had apparently caused him to lose a couple marbles here and there. Well, that was, of course, according to the rumors. "After all, I did cause you to forget, it's the least I could do," she continued, a hint of sarcasm edged in her voice.
Barrenfrost let out a scoff before giving her a threatening look that seemed to say, listen, lady, I ain't in the mood. But instead he relaxed rubbing his paw over the front of his snout, "This isn't something I do often and for the record I'm not lost," He clarified sharply, but inhaled deeply, probably a calming technique someone sane taught him to use that had little effect on him, "But yeah, I could really use a good resource right about now. Basically I gotta remember these herbs, but now I've completely forgot them, somethin' about borage, something something, and something to do with a mouse? Ugh. I don't expect you to understand, but our medicine cats been calling me an idiot ever since I released her from prison over a year ago. I just want to prove to her, I'm not some dummy and I can get a job done, but if I come crawling back for information I'll never hear the end of it."
He relented a small, awkward toothy, but charming enough smile, "So could you maybe help me out with that, do a guy a favor on account of you magically appearing in front of me."
For a moment, her sarcasm waned, as she winced understandably at his predicament - herbs she did not get. Setting a bone and halting a fever, she could do. That was useful information, she didn't have time to actually sit down and memorize all those herbs. She definitely sympathized with Barrenfrost on that part. But there was no way that she was going to let him know that there was a gap in her bountiful knowledge. "Oh yeah - herbs! That's super easy, course I can help you," Bearspirit replied, giving a chuckle. "You want borage stems and mouse leaves. Not quite sure about the second one, dunno any herbs called 'something something.'" She gave him a pitying look, as if the names of the herbs he was looking for were obvious.
Barrenfrost slumped, "Well it doesn't matter then, if I can't remember all three she's just going to complain about it and call me names all over again," He groaned, "Aren't you supposed to be smart or something? There's gotta be an herb that even if she didn't ask for she'd be impressed if I gave it to her," He reasoned.
He tried to scrape his mind for an important herb, but all that came up was poppy seeds and mouse bile. He hated mouse bile, he always got that chore as an apprentice which was utterly stupid. He had been training to be a prison guard, mouse bile had nothing to do with that. That AND it was too cold for ticks, anyone who got ticks could just deal with it for a week till another cold front would come in and freeze 'em all to death. He shook his head, this day unbelievably sucked.
"Are you at least useful at imprisoning cats? We could go to the border, find some fresh new prisoners, could be fun," He shrugged.
She watched him for a moment, a bit bemused by his question. “Oi, listen buddy. I helped you remember two out of the three herbs, I think I’m doing better than you are,” Bearspirit scoffed, shaking her head. “I may be smart, yes, but I can’t read your mind – if you can’t even remember it, then how can I help you?”
But she let it slide, as he suddenly changed tactics. A low purr rumbled in her chest at his suggestion. “It’s been a while since I’ve found someone to imprison, I could use the exercise.” She flexed her claws, her eyes dilating with excitement. “Do you have somewhere in mind? Heard any whispers about trespassers?”
Bearspirit kneaded the ground, digging up small clumps of dirt and melting snow. “Because if you haven’t, I sure have.” She leaned in closer to him and continued softly, “Supposedly there’s a small group of loners off near the river who’ve been skulking around, stinking up the place. That sound like fun to you?”
"Oh what-EV-ER, Bearspirit! You still ruined my train of thought," Barrenfrost muttered.
His curved white ears pricked at the idea of outsiders near the river. That did sound pretty great, she wasn't a useless furball like everyone else here!
A quick genuine smile lit across his face, yeah it did sound fun, "Race yah!" Barrenfrost said, quite literally shoving Bearspirit hard and then barreling forward through the snow to get to the river.
With a startled gasp, Bearspirit stumbled backwards - she was not used to others shoving her aside, that was her job! For a moment, she stood there, still in shock, before she pounced after him. Although she wasn't able to catch up to him in time, she did manage to keep him in her sights; running wasn't Bearspirit's strongest assets, she was more of the muscle than lean speed. "Over there!" She hissed aloud, as they crested over a hill, and she swerved to the left. About twenty foxlengths away was a small group of cats, seeming to be in a deep conversation. Bearspirt led the both of them towards a small cluster of trees, shielding them from the group's sights.
They were downwind and Bearspirit opened her mouth slightly, tasting the air. "I can smell about three - no four - wait- maybe five? StarClan, they all smell the same!" Her fur rippled in exasperation and she shook herself. "No matter, we can take any number of these fleabags." As she dug her claws into the ground, the cool feeling of the snow made her veins thrum - this unfortunate group of loners were not on their own territory, this was Barrenfrost's and Bearspirit's.
(Do you want me to rp an invading cat, cause I can lol)
"Aw heck, yeah! We can take them all out," Barrenfrost said triumphantly as if there was already battle won.
He hardly ever was beat in a fight and believed even less that he ever lost a fight in his life. But given his massive size it was easy to see why, people naturally looked at him as an intimidating figure. Someone who could and probably would take them out. He had no fear of going onto other clans territories because never once had there been a repercussion for invading.
