Littlebird wrapped her tail around herself, feeling more alone than ever. The one thing that had helped her get through the past couple of months was gone, and by her choice. It had been her decision to leave him, but that didn't mean is was easy. She squeezed her eyes closed, trying to push his image from her mind. She had to move on.

"Priestess Promised" the singsong voice of a white she-cat greeted respectfully with a dip of her head. "Are you feeling well?" Whitemagnolia asked a look of concern gleaming in her gray and gold eyes.

"I am well, thank you Whitemagnolia" she replied formally. Since coming to SunClan she always held a certain level of formality with most of her clan-mates. There were only a select few that she allowed past her walls, and into her private life. The clan had come to trust her, but with all the betrayal she had faced in her short life she had a hard time trusting others. She not yet announced her pregnancy to clan, knowing what that would mean. She and Skipstep had been spending more time together in public, and she doubted that anyone would have difficulty in accepting that he was their father. However, being pregnant in SunClan was a big deal. Queens were showered with gifts and praises, pampered. Kits were seen as a gift from the Sun God, and she wasn't sure that she was ready for the attention that was sure to come. So far she had managed to keep it hidden, but each day it was becoming more difficult as the symptoms set in. Her belly was slightly rounder, and each morning she had to take herbs to ease her upset stomach.

"Well you are looking quite stunning these days." she purred. That was Magnolia. Ever so sweet as always. She liked to communicated with others by showing them she cared. Showing others with compliments and offering to assist others in menial tasks. Though some still looked at her pure white pelt and wondered if she was even from SunClan at all. She was used to the cold shoulder she got in return of her sweet and honest demeanor.

Littlebird blinked, trying to understand the she-cat response. Had this she-cat figured out her secret? Probably not. Perhaps she was just being kind? Perhaps... Instead of getting defensive, she decided to accept the compliment with the grace her position required of her "I appreciate you noticing" she finally replied after a brief pause. Unlike a lot of SunClan cats, Whitemagnolia's pelt did not seem strange to her. She had grown up surrounded by cats with white a grey coats, and in fact her own shaggy gray coat stood out among the clan as well. It was hardly something to note, much less something to make her be treated differently.
Skipstep entered the main camp carrying a large magpie and a shrew. His sister Jetclaw a few steps behind him weighed down by a bird, and a mouse. The she cat turned her paws to carry her catch to the prey pile when Skipstep stopped her dropped the shrew at her paws, flicking his tail to the prey pile before Skipstep trotted over to Littlebird.
"Littlebird! Are you well today?" The tom asked setting the magpie down at her paws. "I caught this for you... if you're hungry. If you'd rather something smaller, I also caught a shrew." Skipstep said lifting his head looking proud.
Skipstep had always managed to get caught up in the elite of SunClan it seemed. First when he fell in love with Hazelcascade... the first soothsayer before her sudden disappearance, now here he was with the Priestess Promised. Although part of him still yearned and ached with the loss of Hazelcascade and that he'd likely never find closure in what had become of her. When he'd started to feel a pull towards Littlebird... He'd decided he'd do everything in his power to prevent her from vanishing just as well.
It stung a little that, she'd mated to Leatherstar first, and she'd had to turn to him as a second choice. But Skipstep decided that he should see it as an opportunity. By swallowing the fact that she wasn't really carrying his litter, he still got to claim their parentage. And with Jetclaw also sworn to secrecy, no one would be able to make any claim that they weren't his children... They could always write it off as referencing Skipstep's unknown genetics. With Jetclaw in on it, no one would know that they're family didn't have any of the coloration these kits would have.
But he'd do his best to show Littlebird, what a good mate he was, and he'd do his best to ensure her kits had a good life. By doing this Littlebird was less likely to vanish like Hazelcascade had, and perhaps pave the way for their relationship to go further.

A warm purr emerged from her throat, and she nuzzled Skipstep's neck upon his approach. It felt strange to her to be openly showing affection towards another cat, but it was necessary in order to make the rest of the clan believe that he was the father to the litter she was secretly carrying. It wasn't that she didn't like Skipstep, but in WinterClan showing affection openly was seen as a sign of weakness. Emotions were meant to be covered by a mask, hidden under the surface. She couldn't even remember ever seeing her father even smile at her mother. Then again the two of them had ended up murdering each other in the end... She didn't exactly have good role models to show her how cats in love were expected to act in SunClan.
Here you were free to express your feelings, and many in the clan viewed her as cold and distant. She was working hard to change that, not that it came easy to her. "Thank you Skipstep. How about we share this one?" she smiled and gently took the magpie from him graciously. She didn't have the heart to tell him that she wouldn't be able to finish it by herself, at least not without making herself sick. She had been eating less, but more often to try to control the uneasiness in her stomach.
