Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
If her life was a movie, this would be the opening scene where a voice over would say "Yes, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got here, and, well, it's a long story." The camera would then zoom in on her, back against a tree, looking terrified, with two cats cornering her. There would be a record scratch, and then a rewind to tell the tale of how Restlessbird managed to get herself in this mess. However, her life wasn't a movie. It was just a life.
"Look, guys, I didn't mean it. We don't have to do this. I'm fine if you're fine..." Her voice was getting more and more frantic as she spoke. Maybe crossing into the rogue territory was a mistake, because these boys were ready to fight.
"Maybe ya shoulda thought about that before ya took our prey," huffed the bigger one, a sleek black tom with narrowed eyes.
The other one, although he also cornered Restlessbird, looked less sure. "Boss, we're on the border. Maybe we should just rough'er up and be done."
"Quiet, Roger," ordered the other, before he took a swing at Restlessbird. "She gets whats comin' for'er."
For such a large tom, Lemonspeckle moved with a quiet grace. He had followed Restlessbird's scent, as he noticed how close she was growing to the border. The rogues were merciless more than half the time, not that Restlessbird couldn't take care of herself, but it was never the safest idea to go near that border alone. Lemonspeckle caught the sound of voices and he paused, his large paws gripping the soft earth beneath them. His cream-colored pelt wouldn't blend well, he knew, so the great warrior skirted up the nearest tree, shimmying from branch to branch, tree to tree, until he saw Restlessbird, cornered by two tom cats with ill-intentions.
Lemonspeckle paused, gauging his distance. Quietly, he landed on the branch directly above the trio, his feathered tail waving behind him as he judged his prey. His stomach began to turn in tight knots, wondering if he was making the right decision to attack, though the tom smashed those feelings down, down, down in his mind. Now was not the time. Before he could talk himself out of it, Lemonspeckle pounced down from the low branch with a yowl, bowling into the large black tom and throwing the both of them rolling down the slope that the tree was balanced on.
The smaller one, Roger, took that as his sign to get out of there. He was what one could call a fraidy cat, and although he probably could have taken the she-cat on, he didn't want to test his luck with the older cat. Plus, Tommy probably could handle himself, right? "I'll, uh, catch you at the den, Tim-tom!" he called before making a bee-line out of the territory.
The other tom let out a grunt. He was not Roger, nor would he be so easily swayed. When the two came to a rest at the bottom of the hill, he quickly threw himself backwards, landing so that the other cat was sandwhiched between him and the ground. It wasn't the most effective of moves, but it dislodged Lemonspeckle from his shoulders. He then turned. "Oh, so yas can't let your own take care of 'emself when they do wrong?" he growled in annoyance, tail thrashing through the air.
"Lemonspeckle!" squeaked the she-cat, racing towards the two. She was not a fighter, hence the being backed into a corner, but she couldn't just let him fight her fight for him, right?
Lemonspeckle's fur was enough to make him look twice the size of most forest cats, rightfully a lion with the creamy-gold color of it. Although he was not as big as he looked under the fluff, he was still a large warrior. He looked up at the black tom, his golden eyes fiery - the usual nervousness that shown in them had been replaced by a white-hot anger that always came to him in the heat of battle. It was something that had been beaten into him as a kit and apprentice, and the part of himself that he couldn't shake.
He ignored Tommy's comment, taking his powerful hind legs and smashing them into the soft belly of the rogue above him and pushing with all his might. Tommy's claws pulled at his skin but Lemonspeckle only growled as he flung the tom backward in the air. The warrior rolled and jumped to his feet, turning to face Tommy, chest out and chin up.
At one point, it had been two on one, he and his partner against this she-cat. Now, the tables had turned and it looked to be one on two. He let out a snarl, before righting himself. He looked a little bit shaken, and he found himself taking one last swing at the tom. He drew blood. "If I ever and I mean ever catch ya lot in my territory again," he hissed a warning, before taking back into the southern territory.
Restlessbird let out a sigh of relief as soon as the tom left, although the furs on her body were yet to relax. "Are-are you okay?" she asked as she padded to the other cat. "Thank you..." she then added quickly, her voice nervous still. "I-I didn't mean to upset them, I don't really know how I did it..." It then trailed as she looked at him. This would only happen to her.
