Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Littleram bounced from the warriors den with a leap, landing on bent limbs before quickly straightening up and puffing up his chest. Baby blue eyes searched the clearing as he considered the other early birds up and about. Lightly considering if he should seek out company for a hunt today, thinking of this while his short legs carried him over to the fresh kill pile. Breakfast was the most important meal of the day after all.
Odysseyfright watched as the tom bounded from the den, a look of amusement passing through his eyes. He, too, was an early bird, but it was simply because he had a penchant of watching the sun rise. Every day, like clockwork, he left the warrior's den while the sky had yet to lighten. He couldn't remember when he had picked up the habit, but it was so deeply rooted in his behaviors it almost seemed like his desire to watch the sun was genetic.
"That was quite a spectacle," he meowed with a purr as the other cat neared the fresh kill pile. He sat over a rabbit himself. "Are you looking for breakfast? I'm never going to finish this by myself if you'd like to share?"
"I'd love to!" Littleram beamed as he hurried over to the other, giving him a grateful smile. "Thank-you so much. I mean there is plenty of prey but rabbit is a good piece of prey and you're right they're almost always to large to eat by oneself." He rambled with a cheery sort of energy that would be off putting to those not used to waking up early in the morning. Purring in delight at the first bite of prey he sent Odysseyfright another smile, this own more content as he simply enjoyed the morning and his meal.
There was a bit of relief in his gaze when the other cat actually joined him. He figured that he probably would, but it had been a while since he'd asked someone to share food with him. Of course, he enjoyed eating with others, but he was still getting his footing in SummerClan post Agora. "Right? Now, don't get me wrong, I can eat my fair share, but rabbits? They can feed half a forest." His whiskers twitched in amusement, before he smiled again. "Although, I once saw an apprentice eat two rabbits right in a row. I get the whole, growing boy thing he probably had going on, but wowza," he finished with a purr at the memory, before he sighed. "I could never, not that I'd want to really. Gotta keep the girlish figure somehow." He then winked, before taking a bite.
“It was Quillpaw, wasn’t it?” Doestar interjected dryly, padding out of his den to sit down heavily beside Littleram. “Who ate the two rabbits? That boy’s growth spurt still terrifies me. Witchcraft,” he added in a whisper.
Breaking into a cheerful smile, he let out a purr and licked a forepaw, drawing it over his ear and closing his eyes against the warm sunlight. “And your girlish figure is fine, Od. Morning, Littleram, by the way! Have I ever mentioned how cute your name is? Too cute. So cute. It kills me. Good stuff. Great stuff. Good morning. Oh!” His eyes snapped open. “I almost forgot. I had the wildest dream last night: I was a fish, but the sea was the sky and the sky was pink, and I got stuck in a cloud and then this bigger cloud named Hector was chasing me, and suddenly I was a bear cub and mama bear was tryna feed me honey. And then I woke up. It. Was. Magical. Whoo!”
Littleram ducked his head shyly at the leaders attention, and at Odysseyfrights comment. He wondered if they were mocking him, but Doestar sounded to genuine to be mocking him, or so he hoped. His morning had been rather good thus far and the day would be ruined if the leader and fellow warrior were mocking him. "Thank-you." He mumbled into his chest and took another bite of his rabbit. Trying to amp himself up back to the level of energy he possessed when it was just him and Odysseyfright. He knew his name was about his tendency to barge head first into things, if Ravenstar thought telling him it was for his perseverance would fool him she had been the fool.
Doestar's eyes softened into a worried frown; he'd clearly been too chatty, too loud, too obnoxious, and he'd ruined whatever nice thing the other two toms had going on. He was leader now, and he kept forgetting, and he kept just... talking to everyone like he used to, and he couldn't do that anymore. He couldn't be bubbly and silly and immature. He had to... be what he was expected to be. If that meant crushing a little part of himself and locking it away, so be it. It was for the best. "Hey, I'm sorry," he replied gently, touching his forepaw to Littleram's shoulder. Guilt felt like heavy tar in his chest. "I really do think your name is cute. You're a ram, I'm a doe, Od just needs to pick another cloven-hoofed ruminant mammal and/or other such medium-sized bovid and we'll be a real dream-team." He smiled softly.
Littleram glanced up with a small smile and a nervous little laugh at the other toms attention. Doestar was always so nice and fun, better than Ravenstar who had scared Littleram a little bit. She had been serious and scary, Littleram constantly afraid of messing up and ruining her opinion of them. But Doestar didn't seem like that, Doestart seemed just as lovable as he had been when he was a simple warrior holding the name Doefreckle. "I think your name is cute to. And if Odysseyfright changes his name doesn't that make our names less special?" He asked boldly tossing a cheeky grin towards the tom in question.
"I swore I'd never say his name out loud, lest he not get to eat for a few days," Odysseyfright meowed to his friend with a wink. "And, once again, Mr. Doestar, with the flattery. Back in my day, a tom would at least take me on a date after flirting me not once, but twice." He gently laughed at his friend, before letting out a purr. Wow, two of his favorite SummerClan cats - Littleram came and sat with him so that made him automatically top five - in one place, what a delight.
"You know what, I always did think Odysseyfright was a little bit stuffy. From this point on, fellas, you can call me..." He fought to think of another cloven animal. "Odysseycow. Yes, much better." It was, in fact, not better. Odysseydung would probably have been better than Odysseycow. "Cows are bovid, right?"
He then turned back to Littleram. "What just one second. Are you trying to say that the bovine group is exclusive and I'm not invited?" he asked with mock shock. "Why, I never!"
Doestar smiled fondly at Odysseyfright and let out a soft huff of amusement, already feeling close enough to the tom to get by with meaningful glances; he didn't feel the need to respond to the joke about flirting, because it was all just light and flippant - he handed out compliments and pretty words as carelessly and easily as he offered smiles and rarely thought anything of it. There was never any real meaning to them other than the hope of making the other cat feel good about themselves, and Odysseyfright knew that. Of course he knew that. If Doestar was really flirting, he would know. Of course he would. Obviously. No potential for any crossed-signals here, no sir-ee.
"Well, now you're just being insulting," he replied sniffily, sliding down onto his belly and turning away from Od with his nose in the air and his eyes hooded. "Come, Littleram, let us leave this fellow and reconvene in our secret bovid-named-only party space." He rolled over once or twice until he came to a stop against Littleram's side, ducking his head in close to the warrior's and pretending to whisper top-secret things while shooting suspicious, narrowed glances at Od all the while.
