Ironpaw narrowed her eyes at the mouse that scuttled in between the leaves. Bracing herself, she prepared to leap on the little creature before a crack scared it off. A growl escaped her lips and she swung her head around in the direction of the noise. What if it was Fiercepaw returning? She could only wish.
"Oops, I am so sorry!" Came a sweet voice of a black and white apprentice; the voice belonging to an old friend, Echopaw. The black and white she-cat padded out of the ferns, her head hung low. "I didn't mean to scare it off. I was hunting it until I saw you and I stopped but I accidentally stepped on a twig. My bad..." She looked at Ironpaw with gentle mistletoe green eyes.

Ah, dang it. There was no way she could stay mad at Echopaw. "Er, it's okay. There will be more chances to catch mice." She told her friend awkwardly. "What were you doing?" Ironpaw shook away the thoughts about her sister and decided to focus on talking to the other she-cat. It would probably be nice to catch up anyways.

"Honestly, just trying not to think about Fiercepaw." She admitted with a grunt, sitting down herself. Ironpaw would never talk to anyone who wasn't her friend about this kind of stuff. She could trust Echopaw, though.

Ironpaw shifted her paws uncomfortably. She wasn't used to thinking and talking about her problems. Instead, she would work them out of her brain by training or hunting. "Well..." She started with a grunt. "Ever since she left Nightclan for Summerclan, I feel like she doesn't even want to see us anymore. Her blood and kin. Her clanmates."

"Any of us." Ironpaw responded with a nod. "Why would she leave us to go be with family she didn't grow up with? We didn't even know they existed until now." Her eyes trailed to the ground, but anger festered inside of her. It took her a moment to realize she was dumping all her problems on Echopaw. "I'm sorry. Would you like to do something else? I don't want to continue bothering you with all this complaining."
"Incoming!" Skypaw's voice heralded the blind apprentice tumbling into the area, in a roll. Having tripped over a root while chasing a rabbit and thus going head over paws down the slight slope, landing in a heap beside the other two apprentices. "Oof." The blind gray tabby muttered picking herself up and shaking herself. "That was a bit uh, less graceful than I'd like." She opened her mouth to taste the air recognizing Echopaw and Ironpaw. She brightened Echopaw was her partner and good friend, and Ironpaw was her adopted cousin. "hi guys! I hope I'm not interrupting anything."
"If I wanted to do something else, I wouldnt have asked what was wrong, right?" Echopaw purred with a smirk. She set her paw comfortingly on Ironpaw's shoulder. "Just give her some space to make her own decisions. She may come back around. And if she doesn't, I doubt she would care any less about us. You just found out you had other family. She probably just wants to get to know them better. It might be important to her to know that you and her werent alone after all."
Echopaw suddenly jumped back at Skypaw as she came barreling over to them. "Skypaw!" She greeted happily. "Are you okay?"

Ironpaw let a smile rise to her muzzle at Echopaw's words. She was right, of course. Maybe giving Fiercepaw space would bring her home? She could only hope. As Skypaw's yowl split the air, Ironpaw nearly jumped right out of her fur. Her alarm lessened as she realized her cousin was alright, but her fur still stuck up like a porcupine's. "Great Starclan, Skypaw! You nearly scared my paws right off my body!" She meowed, her voice a few levels higher than normal. "What in the name of honeydew were you doing anyways?"
