Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Are you a part of the LGBTQIA+ community on Classic? Do you have a marginalized gender identity or sexuality? Do you want to get connected with other gays on the site ? Do I have something for you !!!
Starting now, we are making a queer-friendly and queer-specific support group chat for the site. It will be hosted on Skype and will be an official Classic group chat. This one will be a little more moderated than the others due to the sensitive nature of the topic. This just means that homophobia and transphobia will under no circumstances be tolerated, and if you get too TERF-y, I will remove you from the group chat and you will not be readded.
The group chat won't have like specific topics or anything for it, nor do we expect you to stay on topic really. However, it will be a safe space, one where conversations about surviving a queer life in a world not friendly to the LGBT+ community are more than welcome! Such topics could include but aren't limited to: experiences with trans & homophobia, safe binding practices, questioning sexuality / gender identity / etc. Once the chat is made and has a few members, we will also go over some like ground rules to determine things like language that feels safe for us (ie: some people have reclaimed things like the d-slur, and others are brutally uncomfortable with it, so we'll figure out what feels good for everyone), and then it'll turn into whatever feels right for it to turn into!
I, one of the resident queer enbys, will be moderating the chat, which means I'll be the one adding people to the group. Once the group is created, it'll be open for any user that self-identifies in the LGBTQ+ community. Yes, that means those in the ace/aro spectrum and those who are questioning! This group chat, though, will have limited entrance to those who self-id in the queer community. There will soon be a space where allies and lgbt+ folk are welcome to ask questions and stuff, so if you're an ally and looking to make queer connections, keep in touch!
