Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Reisi had specifically asked Mars to be placed here. He knew that most mercenaries would have preferred to be in the thick of the fighting, but he wanted to be where he knew that his tykes would be safe. He was here to defend Almast, Lark, and his tykes. He didn't think any SunClan cats would make it this far, but if they did, they would be in for a fight they would never forget. He glanced over at Fjord, the other cat that Mars had ordered to guard Post Kilo. Venus had just had tykes so he could see why Mars put him here. He was worried of course, but he couldn't afford to show that now, not with the youngest members of the Regime depending on him to keep them safe.
Venus was nervous. She was huddled in her nest with her little ones laying all around her. How could she possibly keep them all safe if the SunClan warriors got this far? She knew that Mars would do his best to drive out the invaders before they got this far. The chances of them making it past headquarters was unlikely, but so long as that chance was there, she would be nervous. She could hear the distant sounds of the battle already. Why would SunClan attack them like this to begin with? What had the Regime done to justify this attack?
Rena-tyke and Cerese-tyke were both huddled close together as they listened to the sounds of the battle in headquarters. Both were old enough to realize that something bad was happening but they had been too young to do anything other than hide here in Post Kilo with the Raisers and the others that were not taking part in the battle. Cerise-tyke could see her father sitting at the entrance to Post Kilo now. He had said that he was there to protect them. It made her feel a little better, but honestly she was still scared.

It was easier to protect one Post than two. Veteran Astrid walked hastily through the tunnels she had lived in her entire life, the once beautiful tortoiseshell's fur now streaked with grey and with a bad paw to boot these days. She was quickly moving from Post Delta to Post Kilo, where she had spent much of her life caring for and raising tykes including her own. Now, it was where many of her grandchildren were being raised and even the tykes of a she-cat she had once trained and knew as Cadet Venus. Astrid wasn't sure where the rest of the veterans were, presumably heading to post kilo or the front lines if they were stubborn, but she had never been much of a fighter herself.
She stepped in to the warm tunnel that smelled sweet like mother's milk and newborn kits and smiled to herself. She nodded to her son, Reisi, and the other guard, Fjord in respect as she passed them and pushed forward. She was proud to see her son, in all of his fathers likeness, protecting not only the Regime but also himself, his tykes, and the mother of his kits. She padded over to Venus and smiled down at the little kits. "You certainly seem to have your paws full these days!" She purred. It was quite a sight to see a mother crawling with 14 of her own kits she had given birth to.
Raiser Superior Lark’s stomach was in knots. Since the attack began she had been moving from nest to nest, reassuring worried mothers and playing briefly with scared tykes to calm their nerves. She felt like she was going to vomit- she didn’t know how to fight, and she couldn’t bear the thought of watching the cats she loved so much die in front of her. But the calico cat had a brave face on- a gentle smile and a soothing tone to her lilting voice.
But there was another facet to this, and looking at Reisi made her heart skip a beat. She was sure now, so she had to tell him. Maybe it wasn’t the best time, but there was no way she could keep this information a secret from him. So after she had spoken to everyone she made her way to him, licking his shoulder in greeting. “How are you feeling?”
—
Lyra-tyke sat against her mothers side, diminutive and stark white. “Momma, what’s going on?” Her too-high voice whispered anxiously, still squeaky and unsure of the word choice.
Venus had lowered her head to lick Lyra-tyke's ears. "Bad cats are trying to invade our home. But we don't have to worry. She nodded towards Fjord. "Your father won't let any bad cats get in here so we will all be perfectly safe." While she was still nervous, she wanted to reassure her kit. It was then that she heard Astrid and her expression brightened some. "Well, I suppose you could say that. Life is never dull, that is for sure!" She pushed herself up into a sitting position. "How have you been? I haven't been able to make it to Post Delta as often as I would like."
Reisi was trying to focus his attention on the tunnels ahead, but he turned the moment he heard Lark's voice. "I'm alright. Just a little tense. I can't believe those fox hearts would attack us for no reason like this." Going to war with SunClan had been something he had wandered about for a while now since relations with them had been tense up to this point, but he had never once thought they would attack them like this. At least they were prepared this time. The attack by BrookClan several moons ago had been completely unexpected. "Are you alright?" He had a feeling something was bothering her. He wasn't sure what it was, but he could at least sense that something was off.

She smiled as the mother comforted one of her young kits and couldn't help but be impressed that Venus even had the energy to sit up. Even just nursing four kits had been tiring for Astrid so she could not imagine nursing 14 at a time. "That's quite alright, you should be here after all because even when you don't have your own tykes there are always some that need looking after. I am doing quite well considering my age. I have got a paw that's acting up rather awfully these days, but if I don't have to run then it doesn't bother me too awfully." She responded. "How are you doing? These are a lot of tykes for you to be caring for." She couldn't be certain of who the father was but she did find herself wondering about it.
"Momma, who is this?" Lucia-tyke piped up in a bright and clear voice, huddling close to her mother's body.
Lyra-tyke listened to her mother and Astrid talk, her small snowy frame tucked into her mother’s hip as she sat. She didn’t really feel afraid, just mildly concerned and unhappy.
-
“I’m okay. I need to tell you something, though. I’m sorry, I know it’s bad timing.” Lark shifted between her two front feet, peering up at Reisi. She felt even more strange now that his mother was here, and she was keenly aware that his former mate and his other kits were in Post Kilo as well. “I really can’t wait to tell you. I’m so conflicted, because I’m scared but excited but anxious...” She trailed off, unable to think of any more stalling tactics. “I’m pregnant.”

Fjord returned the glance to his younger cousin with a nod, hoping he looked more confident than he felt. He had argued with Commander Mars for a bit, hoping to be fighting for his group among the other Mercenaries, but he knew that he was needed here. His head turned towards his mate and all fourteen of those precious babies and he felt a sense of renewed strength and a bit of anger towards Sunclan. If they got this far back they would definitely regret it. His eyes fell on Lyra-tyke and Lucia-tyke and he gave them a little wink. They would grow up to be wonderful soldiers, he would make sure of it. His eyes trained back towards the tunnel that lead to Head Quarters, catching any sight or sound in the darkness.

Momi wrapped her tail protectively around her kits, fighting back the shiver that rose to her spine. She appreciated Fjord and Reisi's presence, and even Ren who quickly followed Astrid into the post, but she still feared for her tykes. She gave each one a lick on the head, hoping that she could calm them before turning her attention over to Venus. She smiled as the little ones began to pipe up.
-
Veteran Ren arrived after Astrid, his tail flicking irritably. "I should be out there fighting..." He mumbled before growing hot with embarrassment. The lanky, blue-grey tom had grown restless in Post Delta and almost longed for the thrill of battle, but Post Kilo was more crowded than usual and they would need his help.
-
"That's Veteran Astrid." Liam-tyke whispered to his sister, looking up in awe at the she-cat in front of them. "She used to be a superior. Momi told me about her." He wondered what she was like in her prime, but figured it wasn't the time to ask.

"I suppose I am alright Honestly, I'm not sure how Fjord and I are going to manage to raise all of them properly. I'm lucky to have Momi." She gave her friend a kind smile. She's going to help me nurse all of them." She was sure that between the two of them, they would probably have to start keeping a pile of fresh kill at Post Kilo since they were the only nursing origins at the moment and they had nearly twenty tykes to nurse between the two of them. Venus ate quite a bit now. She had to if she was to have enough milk to feed all of her little ones.
At Lucia-tyke's question, she smiled. "This is Veteran Astrid. She is the one who trained me to be a Raiser. She also helped to look after me and other little ones when I was young."
"Astrid?" Lindi had fixed his gaze on Astrid. He was an exact replica of his father with the same white fur and bicolored eyes. He still didn't know much about the Regime. His mother had been telling him and his siblings as much as she could about the Regime, but they were really too little to know much. The tiny kit beside him just shifted. His sister Lotta-tyke had been born weaker than her siblings. While she was not sickly, she was very tiny. Lindi-tyke had taken it upon himself to stay close to his sister to keep her warm and safe. He had looked over at her when she shifted and in the next moment he was moving closer to her which caused little Lotta to fall still once again.
Any concentration that Reisi may have had on watching the tunnels had been lost the minute Lark spoke. His eyes had widened and for a moment he just stared at her as he tried to register what she had just told him. While this was hardly the time for this sort of announcement, He couldn't help but to feel happy. He hadn't gotten much of a chance to raise his first litter. Almast had done her best to keep him away from them. He had always felt a bit guilty about not being more active in their lives. Perhaps he would have that chance with Lark. Of course he would still help his first litter however he could, especially now that they were reaching their sixth moon. Almast wouldn't have as much power over them. He could feel her watching him now, but it was impossible to tell what she was thinking since she was keeping her distance.
Lark waited for him to speak, the tip of her fluffy tail twitching anxiously. She too could feel Almast's gaze, and she wasn't sure what the Guider was thinking. Could she somehow tell what they were talking about? She felt the fluttering in her stomach that had first raised her suspicions about the pregnancy, and another pang of worry shot through her. Every movement of their kits was a reassurance that these would live, unlike her first litter. But the fear that she would lose these ones too was still present. "Reisi? Please say something... are you mad?" She was aware of how silly the question was, but she couldn't refrain from asking.

Gabriel-tyke glanced up at his mother, following her gaze all the way to Reisi. His ears pricked as he struggled to hear his father's conversation with Lark, but he guessed it was something Almast didn't like. Letting out a sigh, the tyke rested his head back on his paws and watched them talk.
Fjord's whiskers twitched in surprise as he overheard Lark's announcement. He was sitting next to Reisi as they kept guard so it was by mistake that he overheard. From the sound of it, they had more tykes to protect than they thought. He put on his best oblivious face as the conversation went on, trying to give them some sense of privacy. He definitely didn't want them to feel as awkward as he did.
(c'x I just thought it would be funny to have fjord sitting there like, "..." lol)
"Mad?" Reisi sounded shocked for a moment before he began to smile and finally he laughed and drew her in close with his tail. "Why would I be mad? I was just surprised that's all." He knew it was odd to laugh at a time like this. Their groupmates were fighting to protect everyone as they spoke, but the notion of him being upset over something of that nature is what had made him laugh. It was ridiculous at best. He licked the top of her head. "Why don't you go join Venus, Momi, and Almast? It's not safe out here at the moment." There was so much to discuss, but now was neither the time nor the place. If something were to happen to her now, he would never forgive himself. This meant he would have to make sure that no SunClan cats got past him and Fjord.
Meanwhile Almast had let out a quiet sigh as she watched the two of them. She wouldn't say anything at the moment, but she still wasn't happy to see how things had turned out. She was much too proud to make a big scene now though. Besides, she knew they had other things to worry about at the moment. She would say her peace later.
Lark nodded, burying her muzzle in the soft fur of his neck for a moment. "We can talk later, you're right." The calico raised her head, giving him a gentle smile. "Keep us safe. You too, Fjord." Lark turned her head to Fjord with a faint twitch of her whiskers, wondering if he'd overheard. "We're counting on you." With that the Superior made her way back to the tykes, stopping briefly to check on the two weakest of Venus' litter before slowly making rounds of the gathered Origins and Tykes.
The grey tortoishell laughed at Ren's sudden entrance and her whiskers twitched at him in greeting. "Nonsense, we need more good fighters to help us protect all these tykes. Look at how many there are and how healthy they are! They will need good protection so they can become strong full fledged members of the league one day." She winked one green eye at the kits before her.
"Ooooh, that's so cool. She must be a good teacher then." The black and white tyke kit purred, her eyes staring up at the older cat with curiosity glimmering in her eyes. She didn't find fighting, hunting, or healing particularly interesting based on what she had learned so far so she was already thinking about becoming a Raiser, like her mother.
"It feels like so long ago! I never imagined that little Cadet that I once taught would be here now with her own. I'm always available for tyke-sitting if you need to take a break, they can be difficult. Reisi and his littermates were well behaved for the most part but they got up to mischief plenty and I only had four kits." She wondered how it would have been different if Commander Reisi had still been alive when she kitted and raised them but it was too late now to ponder the past.

Lydia-tyke squirmed herself to the edge of the nest. She stood up, hanging over the rim to see everyone that surrounded her. She had black tabby stripes like her father Limavady, but she was white like Fjord. Her young blue eyes looked over each individual. Analytical, keen... Something about this kitten screamed Natural Predator more than the rest of the lot.
The sounds of distant yowls roared in her ears as Gardenia led her grandmother to Post Kilo, the elderly black she-cat leaning on her for support, although Eclipse was far from ill or injured. As they approached the entrance, the former Mercenary Superior's gaze immediately dropped to the tunnel floor, her posture submissive and fearful as the scarred blond feline slinked past Fjord and Reisi into the Post, immediately heading for a dark corner as far from the Origins and tykes she possibly could, curling into a ball. She didn't trust herself to be around them anymore. She didn't trust herself anymore. Despite being one of the best fighters in the Regime, Commander Mars had expressly forbidden her from participating in the battle; not for her safety, but for the enemies'. After what happened just a few short days ago, she understood why.
-
Veteran Eclipse sighed sadly to herself as she watched Gardenia hide away in shame. It tortured her heart her to know how much her eldest granddaughter was hurting inside from what she had done. The slender black she-cat sent both tom an apologetic glance before turning to Fjord with a small smile. "I've been meaning to congratulate you on your new tykes, but you haven't been around the Hot Springs lately. Too busy being a new father, eh?" A half-hearted laugh and the former spy passed through, her lavender gaze scanning the Post until she spotted the tyke she was looking for. Eclipse padded up to Atticus-tyke, the grey and white young tom sitting in his nest by himself. "Hello there, love," she purred, curling around her adopted grandson. "Feeling any better?"
-
"I'm okay," Atticus-tyke mumbled an answer, leaning up against the warmth that came from Eclipse's silky pelt with a small purr. After the incident, he hadn't been feeling like himself; too depressed to eat or play with the other tykes. Traumatized, the Guiders said, which was why his promotion ceremony had been delayed by the Commander. But he wasn't traumatized; at least, he didn't think so. No, it was guilt that ate away at him, that he was responsible for what had happened. Guilt, and the fact that he could feel how sad everyone around him was. Even now, he could feel the spikes of fear and worry that seemed to radiate off the blurred figures that sat around him. No one in the Regime seemed to be happy. Except, he supposed, the two new mothers. And suddenly Lark and Reisi, for some reason.
-
Bright, curious green eyes watched the older cats moving around her, unsure of what to make of them. She had picked up on her siblings' conversation about Veteran Astrid, and had cautiously scooted away from the safety of the mother, bit by bit, to investigate this new cat. Laela-tyke, as white a fluffy as a ball of cotton, sniffed at the Veteran's tail. There were a lot of scents that she didn't recognize. Suddenly, the tail swished around as Astrid and Venus talked, and then it swished back. Back and forth. Back and forth. Eyes wide, the tyke followed the hypnotizing movement, crouching down on instinct before leaping on top of the tail, wrapping her tiny claws around it.
"They will certainly be a handful that is for sure. I may take you up on the offer to tyke sit though. Fourteen tykes is more than I ever imagined I would have. She had known that her litter was going to be a larger one, but she had never imagined something like this. She was just glad that most everyone seemed to be getting over the drama that had been caused when everything about her and Fjord had come to light. Sure she had cheated on Limavady, but he had been manipulative and cruel. He had made her feel like she had deserved all of the cruel words and snide comments that he had thrown at her and while he had never lifted a claw to harm her, he had broken her down mentally piece by piece until she was a shell of her former self. It hadn't been until Mars had asked her to help look after Fjord during his recovery that she had begun to regain her confidence. While she would be honest with the tykes she knew had Limavady for a father, Fjord was the only father they would ever know. She had already let both Roon and Lark know that she didn't want Limavady anywhere near her or the tykes unless Fjord was present as well.
She looked back at Lucia-tyke after this. "She was the best teacher. She taught me everything I know about my duties as a Raiser." Her cadet days seemed like a long time ago now. She had been caught up in quite a bit of drama and heartache since then, but at least she was actively trying to work her way out of it.
Her eyes rested on Gardenia after a moment. She just had this feeling that something was wrong with what had happened. Was Limavady behind it? Perhaps...She had no proof to make such an accusation though. "Gardenia, why don't you come and join us? I don't think I've had the chance to introduce you to them yet." Of course they barely had their eyes open so they hadn't seen many outside of their immediate family, but Gardenia was a friend and she hated seeing her this way. Later she would try to talk to her on what happened and see if her suspicions about Limavady were true.
Reisi watched her go before training his gaze back on the tunnels. He doubted any of them would make it this far, but with so many lives depending on him and Fjord to keep them safe, he knew that any that made it this far might not make it back out of the tunnels alive. If they were willing to attack their young, they did not deserve mercy in the young tom's eyes.
