Daedric was surprised when Kasdeya-kun had been assigned to him by Solaris E'tan. Had the tom not noticed Daedrics limp? It had gotten significantly better since his motion training with the previous shaman and mage but now he was on his own. The Pravian descendant sat at the entrance to the new camp. His awkwardly healed leg sticking out to the side of him as he waited for his trainee. He hoped he would add up to expectations. He was Daedric after all.
Kasdeya-kun admittedly didn’t know many older cats of the League well- she had no need to, since she had no relatives or friends among them. She hadn’t even recognized Daedric’s name when it was spoken by the new Nemesis. Still, the small mottled she-cat has made her way to their appointed meeting place, her mismatched blue and orange eye scanning for tom who was supposed to teach her to hunt and kill. After spotting him, she approached cautiously. “Morning.” Her greeting was surly, as it usually was.

"Yes it is morning." he replied with a flick of his darkly hued bangle tail. "Lets go before morning turns to dusk." he rose to his paws and turned towards the territory beyond. His heart seemed to ache a bit for their old home. The dark forest that had a perpetual reek of decay somehow felt like home. It was one of those memories where you crossed roadkill rotting for days and the putrid scent was comforting. This new home was too nice in comparison. "Lets assess your current skills Kasdeya-kun." he meowed stepping with a quick pace, his limp causing his hips to jerk to the right with each step.
"I don't have any." She said stoutly, but trailed after him grudgingly. She knew logically that training was important, and that she didn't know Daedric's skill level, but she had already drawn her own assumptions about his ability. Someone had told her that Daedric was related to the former Nemesis, and that was a strike against him in her eyes. She had made up her mind to dislike to old royal bloodline and their clannish ways. Maybe it was because she envied their connections and their family structure, or maybe it was simply because she was in a bad mood when she heard about Daedric's past. "No one ever taught me anything."

“Are you not a cat?” He finally shifted his dark amber gaze to his trainee. “If you are not indeed a mouse in a cats pelt you have skills in your blood. Primal engravings in your natural self. We just need to find them. Come along.” He quickened his pace into a light run. Since his leg had healed he didn’t feel pain in it when he ran or got into a skirmish. It seemed to only bother him when the weather was bad. He was used to his limp.
Kasdeya-kun huffed slightly, but didn't protest again, trailing after Daedric. "What do I learn? Hunting and fighting?" She was more interested in fighting- the ability to take out her anger on another cat. Maybe torture would suit her better- it held a morbid curiosity for her, but there was no way she would be learning that. No on her first day, at least.

"Swimming." he said lightly as he turned towards the slow lazy river. While deeper than the height of a cat its slow currents would not subdue even a trainee. Few mentors trained their trainees to swim and later suffered the consequences. The idea of losing a cat to water made him shudder inwardly. "Swimming will both strengthen your body and your senses."
"Swimming?" Kasdeya-kun repeated stupidly, unable to think of a better response. She felt an instinctive shiver as she looked at the water, even as unassuming as it was. The most water she'd had contact with before was the rain. Sensing she had no place to argue, she moved towards the river, delicately putting a paw in.

Noticing her hesitation at the thought of swimming, Daedric moved up behind her and used a forepaw to shove her into the depths. "Your wasting away the day Kasdeya-kun." he meowed following the splash of a small cat into water. He refrained his smile.
Kasdeya-kun sputtered as she fell forward into the water, the shock of the chilled water arresting her body. It was a moment before she resurfaced, looking half-drowned and glowering at Daedric. She spit the water that had accumulated in her mouth, her legs moving instinctively to keep her afloat. "That... was... hardly necessary." She grumbled as soon as she could speak again, exhaling deeply.

"Perhaps. But a lot more entertaining then watching you take your sweet time." Daedric eased himself into the water his leg seeming to right itself as the weightlessness took over. "Now then, tread water for a bit. This is easy at first but as your legs tire from the constant motion you will grow tired and your muscles will threaten to tighten. This is a technique I hope you will never have to use in a pinch." The Pravian pushed against the water staying stationary in his spot among the slowly moving water. "If you get caught in a position where you are perhaps up against a WaterClan cat or a flood this will save your life at least extend it."
"I guess it makes sense." As unpleasant as this was, it wasn't hard yet, so Kasdeya-kun kept her limbs moving, cutting through the slow moving water. She stayed afloat for a while, occasionally readjusting her position to keep in the same spot. It was after a few minutes that her limbs began to complain. She hadn't been the most active as a Youngling, and she had certainly never swam before. "How much longer?" She asked after a painful few seconds, more breathless than before.

"Now that you are tiring you will be inclined to panic. Don't. At any cost, do not panic." He continued to tread beside her. Hos strength in water much greater than hers at the current level. "Think carefully before you react. With practice you will be able to problem solve in a matter of seconds. But right now think, surrounded by water, what could you do to give yourself even a short moment of relief." He watched her with shifting amber eyes water drops glimmering on his whiskers.
"A moment of relief?" Kasdeya-kun felt her chest begin to constrict with unease. looking around herself for a log to grab. "Um... I could stop treading water and float? I don't know." The breath that entered her lungs was short and clipped now, water splashing into her ears.

"Indeed. Take a moment to relax and tip your head towards the sky." You will naturally feel yourself sink a bit and want to kick your paws again but dont just take a moment to relax. When your muzzle seemed to almost go under water kick once more to propel yourself up." When you have done this you can swim to shore.
Kasdeya-kun forced herself to listen to his words, letting her stiffened frame relax into the cool water. She bobbed for a moment, letting the tightness in her legs loosen, kicking back up as Daedric had said when her muzzle began to submerge. The panic had lessened, and she felt a second surge of energy as she began treading water again and turning to shore. Once she had hauled herself onto the edge of the river, she spoke. "Okay... now what?" She sputtered a little as she asked, residual water dripping from her mouth.
