Blackthorn left rather early that morning to hunt by himself. He hadn't been assigned for any patrols and he wouldn't mind joining one later, but a solo morning hunt was his way of getting some time to himself. Carefully he skirted the forest floor with his white-tipped paws, plumy tail flowing behind him gracefully as he picked up the scent of a squirrel. He opened his maw to take in the scent and flicked his ears as he noticed the small creature nearby. A small, sensitive smile appeared on his face as he realized how fat this squirrel was. Narrowing his eyes and preparing to spring, he flicked his ears back and then leaped, his back paws suddenly slipped in the pile of leafy debris he had planted himself on. A squeak ruptured the air as he fell muzzle first into the dirty and grunted painfully, body laying awkwardly for a moment before he hoisted himself back to his paws and looked disappointedly at the empty space where the squirrel had been.
She wasn't supposed to be out of the nursery, let alone out of camp altogether and yet here she was. Lynxkit tottered through the brush and leaves, the branches of the bush she crawled through scratching at her skin. Despite knowing if she was caught she'd get in an unbelievable amount of trouble, she continued on. Every time her green gaze caught a ray of moonlight, her eyes took on an ominous glow. She crouched low to the ground suddenly upon hearing a squeak, fur fluffing up and showing how startled she was. When watching the obviously older warrior press himself up, she skittered around behind the tree. From the scent, the cat belonged to her clan and there was no reason to fear being killed by an intruder. Nevertheless, if she was seen, they'd undoubtedly immediately take her back to camp where she'd receive her punishment.

Blackthorn sighed as he glanced around for anything else to be there, his green eyes blinking hopefully for another squirrel, but he saw nothing of the sort. Turning around, he began trotting forward before his ears pricked and he smelled the sour milk scent of what he noticed in camp by the Nursery. He froze and looked to the side to see none other than one of the newest arrivals to MoonClan. Panic struck him suddenly as he realized how dangerous it was that Lynxkit was out here none the less her foster mother would be panicking herself if she noticed yet. "Lynxkit---Oh no, why did you leave camp!" his face took on an anxious manner, brows raise and ears flicking furiously. He lashed his tail nervously and approached the little kit, "I have to bring you back, right now." he told her and dipped down to pick her up by the scruff, taking off at a gentle gait to get the kit back to safety as soon as possible.
Almost as soon as she was spotted by the older cat, a mewl left her before she tried to turn and scramble away. Alas, as fate would have it, she was too late and her scruff was grabbed by the older male. An angry hiss left the tiny ball of fur, paws flailing in the air and attempting to reach Blackthorn. "Put me down!" She yowled towards the tom, writhing to the best of her abilities in his maw. "I don't wanna go back to the nursery, it's so stupid and boring in there." She complained, giving one last reach up towards the tom with her paw but it swiftly dropping again as she decided it wasn't worth exerting her energy. This didn't stop her from pouting, however, tiny tail twitching to show how strong her annoyance was. "All you old cats are no fun" she grumbled, directing her glaring gaze to the forest floor illuminated by moon beams.

Blackthorn dodged the little kit's flailing, closing his eyes at times to avoid anything thorn-like claws from scratching him. When Lynxkit seemed to pout and become upset he felt guilty even though he knew he was doing the right thing. He stopped with a sigh through his nostrils and placed her down, looking down at her as his plumy tail relaxed behind him. "Look, I know you want to explore, I did too once as a kit, we all do as kits. But, as Clan rules go, you are not allowed to leave, you cannot defend yourself yet. Once you are an apprentice, you'll get to see all of MoonClan!" he told her semi-excitedly, trying to cheer her up before he brought her back. He knew what it was like to be cooped up in a camp all of kithood until it was safe. Although he had never snuck out of camp when he was younger, he had heard grave and cheerful stories of kits who had.
Lynxkit felt confusion as she was placed down, wondering if perhaps the tom took pity on her and she'd get to go off again. However, this was quickly proven to be wrong as he began speaking to her. She blinked her green gaze up at him in an unamused fashion, listening silently. Briefly, she considered taking off anyways but then acknowledged the trained warrior could probably catch her quickly. Her ears twitched as he explained that he had been like her in wanting to explore once. Her eyes drifted to the forest around them, briefly getting distracted by the sight of a cricket. Her chest puffed out "but all the other kits are being apprenticed, it isn't fair. I'm the smarter than them anyway!" She stood up, claws digging into the leaves below her as if proving her claim.
Freekit had been minding her own business in a shady spot just outside the safety of the MoonClan nursery. Her wide kitten eyes currently trained on her paws a she pawed at a blade of grass that had blown towards her. Though her attention had been swiftly taken away from her current task as out of the corner of her eye she noticed that a rather small figure had managed to slip their way out of camp. Her ears perked in alarm and her head quickly swivelled around to see if anyone else in the cap had seen the small kitten ‘escape’. When it had appeared that no one had the tiny calico kit scrambled to her paws as she debated on whether or not she should tell someone or follow after the kit.
Unable to see anyone close by, and fearing that the kit would be long gone by the time Freekit was able to find and tell someone she’d sprinted after the kit. Uncaring if anyone would see her, and actually hoping somebody would. As she raced after the kit her ind instantly blanked as she slipped through the tiny hole that the kit had used. Her senses being attacked by the unfamiliar world that lay just outside the camp walls. Her pointed ears pressed flat against her cranium as her wide eyes darted to and fro trying to figure out where the kit had gone off too. A soft little mewl of worry left her maw as she looked. Her untrained eyes unsure of what to do. As she scanned she saw the faint rustling of leaves and without a second thought she was skittering after it. Her tiny paws thudding against the ground, and occasionally tripping over roots, rocks, and other foliage. As she chased down the rustling you could just barely her her soft voice calling out, “H-Hello? W-Wait up!” though it was lost in the sounds of the forest.
The MoonClan kit had finally managed to catch up to the kit, but it was just in time for the kit to be caught by one of the warriors. The calico kit had stuttered to a halt taking shelter in one of the nearby bushes. Her heart hammering in her chest. Her tiny ind racing as she tried to figure out what to do. Maybe she should just turn around and go back the way she had come. The tiny kit didn’t want to get in trouble. But, at the same time if she turned around there was no guarantee that she’d be able to accurately find her way back home. Freekit curled up in the bush frozen as she watched the exchange between the kit and warrior, uncertainty freezing her in place.

Blackthorn admired the little kit's courage and insistence on being treated as such an adult, but he simply pawed her forehead gently in affection, "You will be, soon. For now, how about I let you walk back with me, you didn't get very far following me." Blackthorn chuckled gently before skittering paws and mewls startled him. He shot his gaze up to see nothing, but he scented another milky scent and his eyes widened with surprise. Another kit? What kind of day in MoonClan was this? He stepped over until he managed upon small Freekit, his tail drooped and he let his head fall as he groaned, "Oh it's going to kill me one day, I just know it." he complained about the anxiety he felt wrenching his stomach and squeezing his chest before he flicked hsi gaze back to Lynxkit before an idea popped into head. He crouched low and touched his nose to Freekit's little head, "Hi Freekit, I see that you followed Lynxkit out here. If you come with right now, you won't be in as much trouble." he flicked his ears as he then beckoned his tail to Lynxkit. "Get on my back you two and we'll go back as fast as possible!" he offered excitedly, hoping the two kits would simply listen to him and he wouldn't have to worry another second about their well being; at least he had found them before something worse could have happened.
The sound of rustling bushes caused her attention to snap to the foliage beside them. She jumped to her paws immediately, wanting to investigate the noises. However, this was before Blackthorn darted over to check. She watched eagerly, hoping maybe she'd get to witness a battle of some kind but she instead watched as only another kit was revealed. She let a little puff of air expel from her nostrils in annoyance, getting to her paws and padding over. She watched quietly as Blackthorn lowered himself to the ground, offering them both a ride back. She huffed at the older male, tail going straight up behind her as she started to pad ahead of them. "I don't need to be carried, I'm not a baby!" She didn't for sure know which way the camp was, but her nose was currently pulling her towards where cats smelled the strongest. She had to scramble a little bit to actually get under some of the bush's branches that she wasn't strong enough to move. Eventually, with a loud 'oof!' she tumbled through and ended up on the other side, racing off towards where she believed the camp to be.
Freekit's heart had felt like it had leaped out of her chest as Blackthorn approached her. Hoping that maybe she wouldn't be noticed and the warrior would just take Lynxkit back, and the tiny calico she-cat would follow silently after them. The kit let out a breathe she hadn't even known she was holding when Blackthorn had addressed her, the tips of her ears burning with embarrassment as he voiced that she wouldn't be in much trouble, if she did what he had asked and let hi take her back to camp. The MoonClan cat was about to voice hat she would do what Blackthorn had suggested, but was beat to the punch by her other kitten companion.
Her periwinkle eyes followed Lynxkit's movements as she struggled to find her way back to camp. Her eyes crinkling slightly with amusement and light concern. She wriggled out from her hiding spot and padded over towards Blackthorn. And without a second thought scrambled to get atop the tom. Her tiny thorn-like claws digging into his thick russet fur. She placed herself in between his shoulder blades and she clung to him for dear life as she just barely saw Lynxkit scrambling away from the two.
