Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Narcissus had been watching from the shadows for some time. She'd been growing her numbers since her - regretful - defeat by her sister seasons ago. In that time, she'd been laying in wait for the time to succeed in her goal of conquest. She watched as Jezebelle and Foxdawn conversed, catching up. She was twisted in the way she was proud of them. Without her, they wouldn't be where they were now. Without her trying to kill Lily, they would probably still be stuck in a group that was dignified by mercy.
Once their conversation was finished, Narcissus began stalking Foxdawn on her journey home.
The High Priestess trotted at an easy pace, her paws leaving imprints in the snow underfoot as she walked back to SunClan. Luckily, they lived on the same side of the mountain range, making it relatively simple to walk back.
Of course, she wasn't so daft as to not notice that she was being followed, and the feline made a detour into the desolate DayClan territory, lacking any signs of life since the capture of said clan by her own warriors. Plains stretched out before her, hard, packed snow beneath her paws from the lack of usage, enough that she was able to walk atop it without sinking more than half an inch or so with each step. She took this way as it forced her follower to either leave, or show their face, as Foxstar suspected was their intention.
Pausing, the painted Priestess stared ahead into the snow covered territory, with it's lack of cover or disturbance. Truly, it was a beautiful sight, knowing that she was the reason no cats' pawprints but her own marred the landscape. But she wasn't here to view the scenery, now was she? "What do you want?" The question disturbed the air, her tone as frigidly sharp as the breeze was cold, only her head turning to peer at the cat behind her with narrowed ivy eyes.
Narcissus had followed the SunClan leader for a few minutes before the other cat said anything. She shrugged. There really was no reason for her to be bothering Foxdusk. Other than, in a twisted way, checking on those who she considered her legacy. "You've been busy." was all she said. She was getting older, she knew. Did that put a kink in her plans? No. If anything, her youngest child was being groomed to take over for her whenever her body decided to die.
"That I have." Was Foxstar's simple reply, raising a singular brow at the she-cat from so long ago. Funny, she remembered Narcissus looking much better. Time certainly had taken it's toll.
Mentally, she counted down the seconds until the other she-cat got to the point of it all, for she sincerely doubted Narcissus would leave it at pleasantries. Otherwise, why follow her all this way? She wasn't surprised that the other cat knew about her, she hadn't exactly laid low since she ditched the Shadow Stalkers a few years back in the middle of the night, finding it boring, and eternal service to Narcissus a rather unpleasant idea. She had her own path, and the old cat before her was never a part of it in her mind. Which, once more, begged the question, why was she here, why now?
Narcissus didn't actually care about the fact that Foxdawn had abandoned the Shadow Stalkers. It was something that she concerned herself with. After all, if one could betray the place they'd grown up... Well, it didn't actually take a genius to figure out said cat's loyalty was questionable, at best. She sat in the snow, uncaring about the cold. "How is my daughter doing?" She actually didn't care about Temperance. She just didn't have much to talk about. In a twisted way, she just wanted to gossip. Being a leader of a rouge group that nobody really knew about was exhausting.
"She misses her mother, if you can believe it." It was a complete and total lie, of course, and Foxstar didn't even try to face a genuine expression for it, choosing only to raise a single brow as she spoke. Despite entertaining the gossip for the moment, the Priestess looked pretty bored with the conversation. She had little interest in Narcissus or her group anymore, and so long as they didn't cause her trouble, then they were pretty irrelevant, unless Narcissus had something to offer her for an alliance.
"I'm disappointed, though. I'd have thought you'd be out in full force, what with your niece becoming EarthClan's leader." Foxstar expected that Narcissus knew about Lilystar's kits, but that wasn't a certainty. Even if she did, that didn't guarantee that she'd made the connection. Regardless, it was a matter of putting a target on someone else's head, but hers, if that's what Narcissus was looking for.
Narcissus didn't believe it for one moment, that her daughter missed her. Their last encounter had made it perfectly clear where Temperance's loyalty lay. She wondered if that was still the case - with SunClan being a cult in all but name. At the mention of her niece, she scoffed. Solstice wasn't on her radar. Her niece had showed her true colors when she left her mother's clan, which was something she could approve. SunClan had been so weak when she'd tried to take over. It still was, but there was nobody to torment in the clan anymore than actually remember who she was. Well, that wasn't true, but nobody who had been on her side was still there (Foxdawn not included).
"Solstice will get what is coming to her, soon." While her niece wasn't a bother to her, she was the only one who could pay for her mother's betrayal. Even after years had passed, Narcissus still hated Lily for daring to leave the Shadow Stalkers.
"I don't doubt it." She'd expected as much, and made a mental note of it, her expression carefully calm and neutral. Thus far, she hadn't set up a meeting with Solsticestar, but this, this interaction right here, could be used as a bargaining chip. Either for Narcissus aid, or Solsticestar's. Foxstar could never have to many allies, well, pawns, really, but regardless. "What have you been doing all this time? I don't believe you to be someone simply content to sit and watch for a few years."
