Reprise was slightly surprised Funk had chosen her to mentor Hayate-kun, as she had only recently joined Primal Instinct and was still fitting in to her new life as part of the group and part of the Ambassadors District. At the same time, she felt determined to teach Hayate-kun her views in life and... yes, how the Ambassadors District worked. If the grey Bengal she-cat was going to be completely honest, she was excited to teach her niece how to be empathetic and gentle but also clever with words and actions. After all, the main goal of being part of the Ambassadors District was learning how to communicate with outsiders. And... how to keep the truth from other prying cats.
Reprise had not talked to Hayate-kun directly before but she had seen the she-cat before. There was something... different about her but Reprise couldn't quite pin point what. The small grey Bengal seemed to be different from her siblings, it intrigued Reprise.
The she-cat, stood waiting just outside the main living quarters where she had told Hayate-kun to meet her during ceremonies. Reprise felt slight nerves bubbling up inside of her but she was determined to push them away. In one which way, if you looked at it correctly, you're a mentor to this cat. It is your job to teach them in your ways correctly, it is your duty to make of them a hero, a caring but not submissive cat. Reprise's goal: teach the small she-cat to be tough but not cold-hearted like pretty much 90% of the rest of Primal Instinct. She hoped she could change the ways of at least some of the cats here, perhaps it was possible now. A slight smile crossed her face at the thought.

The silver bengal was still shaken up from the ceremonies. The last place she expected to end up was Ambassadors. Sure, there was a vague interest, but... her condition would make things a lot harder. But that was what... it wanted, so that's what she got. For now, she needed to be a bit more optimistic. Even if it wasn't optimal, it was the cards she was dealt. And her dad always said the best thing to do was work with you get rather than trying to shift the deck. Each would provide their own fun. And the one time she tried to get things to swing in her favor, didn't work out so well.
Thankfully, Reprise told her the location she was going to be, or else Hayate-kun would have walked right by her. For now, she could tell since Reprise was still bigger than her grey littermates. Once they got older, that would change. Even guessing which was Reprise, she looked around to make sure no one else looked like her before approaching the grey she-cat. Her nerves were like firecrackers, popping with every step.

Her reverie was broken when she spotted a small silver Bengal approaching her. The she-cat seemed a little unsure... perhaps lost would be the correct term to use? Noticing this, Reprise quickly stood up, a warm smile crossing her features. She wanted to seem as welcoming as possible to help the small she-cat feel comfortable. It would be no use trying to teach a terrified cat after all. Hayate-kun brought back vivid memories of her past when she was her age. Images of her kit hood flashed through her mind. Oh, how things had changed... she had been so different back then. She had been more... wild, dangerous. Going to live with an old tom with lots of wise stories to share had certainly changed her.
Forcing the thoughts of nostalgia out of her mind, she dipped her head at Hayate-kun. "Pleasure meeting you love." She paused, glancing at the small she-cat. Something seemed slightly off, perhaps it was just the young she-cat's nerves? That would be it. "So... Ambassadors District, huh? What made you choose it?" Reprise had decided beforehand, it would nice to get to know the young she-cat before they dived straight into things. After all, she hardly knew anything of her. Which she felt slightly bad for because after all, Hayate-kun was her brother's daughter.

Hayate-kun really shouldn't be so unsure. She took this deal to help calm her nerves, but it only seemed to make them worse. She blamed the new surroundings on feeling so lost. Hopefully the League would stay here for a while, just for her sake if nothing else. Endless optimism was her way, so there was no point in questioning it now. She felt like she was walking in circles, but seeing Reprise approach her brought her back to reality.
"Nice meeting you too." She wanted to be concrete, but her voice was more whispy. Nagi and her were truly twins. At the mention of why she joined Ambassadors, she averted her blue eyes. There was no straight answer, especially for a district that went against her natural skill set. Truly, if she told her aunt a demon chose for her, she'd probably be either laughed at or brought to her father to get exorcised. Neither of which she wanted. So, she gave a sheepish smile and looked back up at Reprise, "Well, I wanted to round out the districts so each got a new trainee. Since it didn't look like anyone was gonna take Ambassadors. And I am curious what it's like to work with the loners and rogues." They were weak reasons to join somewhere for the rest of her life, but it was the truth. Or at least, the lie she wanted to turn into the truth.

It wasn't the kind of answer Reprise had been expecting at all. This troubled her. The reason she had chosen the Ambassadors District was because she was an outsider and because of this, she had felt more confident with communicating with them. It had been pretty fit reasoning for her but Hayate-kun's reply surprised her. Something about it didn't seem genuine. Perhaps the young she-cat wasn't interested in the ways of the League? Perhaps she had chosen the Ambassadors District because she didn't really care? Reprise's tail twitched as her mind raced with the possibilities. Maybe she really was curious to see what the outsiders were like? She was probably just overthinking things. Seriously, the young she-cat was probably just nervous.
"There are many kinds of cats out there," nodded Reprise, as she stood up. She had decided they would travel to the edge of Primal Instinct's territory, she would be taking her to the place she knew best. The place she had first entered into the world of the League. They would be heading west down into the forest where the Rogues and Loners lived. Past that, she knew her old home would be sitting. Quiet. Reprise knew she wouldn't be in a hurry to go near this place again, but to show Hayate-kun the territory that'd have to pass nearby. She'd been down that way before, carrying out various duties for the League. Some of which included talking to the local Rogues and Loners in the area, but the feeling of dread had followed her pawsteps when ever she came close. Hopefully, her fear wouldn't show today.
"I hope you had something to eat, we'll be doing quite a bit of traveling today. While we do so, I'd like to chat and discuss your training." Reprise turned to look at Hayate-kun. Hopefully, she wasn't putting the young cat under too much stress.

Really, several things about Hayate-kun were troubling. Though, in the end, she was just another lost soul trying to navigate a world she didn't understand. Maybe it was for something similar, she was an outsider despite being daughter of the Nemesis. There were so many cats out there, Reprise was right, and Hayate wanted to meet them, truly. And Foreign Affairs was... completely off the table. She wasn't really sure, but she was happy with this choice and brought her attention back to the center. She nodded, standing back up. "Yep, I'm ready."

A warm smile crossed Reprise's face. She was really happy Funk had chosen her to mentor this certain young she-cat. There seemed to be something... different about her. Something Reprise almost felt like she could relate to as well. It made her even more determined to help this young she-cat and show her the world. With a pleased nod, Reprise began to pad slowly down the stairs just below them. The sun was only just beginning to raise, honey gold tips of light peaked through the cracks and broken windows of the estate. Turning her head to make sure Hayate-kun was following her, she bounded down the stairs. Pausing at the bottom, she turned to wait for the other she-cat.
"Come then. Let's talk. First off, let's get to know each other shall we?" She tried to keep a warm tone to her voice, so the young cat might feel more comfortable talking to her. "So, what's it like being Funk's kit? He a cool dad?" She smiled, flicking her tail. "Teach you any cool herb tricks?" The last question was perhaps a slight joke. Knowing how much Funk valued his strange creations she wondered what his kits might think.

Hayate-kun skipped down the steps, leaving her troubled thoughts back in the church. It was only a matter of time before they came creeping up on her, but for now she wanted to spend some actual focused time with her aunt. Squinting her blue eyes a bit as the sun blinded them, she slowed down before following along with Reprise, a little wobbly until the high buildings blocked the sun and she got to see again.
Her ears perked at her question, scanning for any other sounds. But the morning city fell silent, so it was up to her to fill that void, "Yeah! He's pretty busy, but he still took time to come and see us. Sometimes he'd bring herbs, or live animals for us to try. He does his best to get our curiosity peaked about the world. Though Miracle always yells at him for bringing things that are too dangerous for us. Like rats. Or deathberries." Hayate hummed with a fond brand of nostalgia, remembering how the brown she-cat would always got on her father's case, but also how much she really cared for them. She was more of their mother than Soigne or Ito were.

Nodding, Reprise glanced at Hayate-kun, her ears flicking. "I don't blame Miracle," she cautioned. "Deathberries and rats aren't things to be messed with, but everyone must learn one way or another... and I suppose Funk has his ways." The quietness around them seemed eerie, as if someone was watching. The dark path winding up ahead was empty and forbidding. Reprise knew cats would be lurking in the darkness, probably playing games of who to kill next. The she-cat hadn't become completely paranoid, but the quiet made the air feel thick and heavy around them. Quickening her pace, she gazed up at the morning sun, as it slowly made its way up, swallowing the shadows of the buildings.
Suddenly, feeling the awkward pause in the conversation, the she-cat felt she best break the silence. "Well, I'm honored to be training you. I suppose you might know a little about me since I am not a typical cat one might say. Not in these parts, at least." Her gaze lingered on the small she-cat, burning into her. As if she was waiting, watching and hoping for a certain response. One that would please her mind. Settle her thoughts. Not that there was ever a right answer to a statement that would mean nothing later on. Right now though, it meant everything to the creamy coloured she-cat.

A smile crossed the silver bengal's lips, something common but rare at the same time. Spending her days in the nursery, tackling her siblings and half siblings and being given a huge pile of seeds and told to separate poppy seeds from foxglove seeds to make sure they knew the different. She would say her father was odd, but she didn't know any normal fathers, so she figured he was doing what all dads did. And it was on the more bizarre side, least with how everyone reacted to it, but that was the only way she liked it.
When the silence fell on them, Hayate-kun focused on the grass under them or the sky above them. Really, anything she could to ignore the gnawing thoughts surrounding her. Any eyes never bothered her, she grew up being watched constantly. When asked about what she wanted to know about Reprise, she almost shrugged at the end comment. Sure, there were cats around that were violent and destructive, but there were also cats like Miracle. Those on the softer side but still here in Primal Instinct. She wasn't old enough to think about all the different variants and how any word she said would mean the world to Reprise. "I don't know. I think it's fine. Why did you join? Just to be with Funk E'tan again?"

Reprise beamed at the small she-cat's response. It was perhaps not exactly what she had been looking for but close enough. At least Hayate-kun thought what she was and what she was doing was okay. Not that she had really explained it to the other she-cat. Assumptions were all the rage in Reprise's world and perhaps she assumed things a little too much. She was also glad Hayate-kun had opened the conversation up about why she had joined, she'd been hoping this would happen. Perhaps it was about time she shared a little of her "so called" wisdom to the world? Of course, starting with Hayate-kun. Others had to learn of what the old kittypet had told her about the world, about finding good in everyone's hearts. About how everyone can be changed, manipulated into becoming what you wish. Reprise did not think the last statement, but subconsciously that was what she wanted to do.
"The world can be a horrible and dark place, Hayate-kun. I'm sure anyone who lives in the league knows this for a fact, including you. There are... many cats... well, who have messed up in life. They come here, as you know. The league is a safe place for them... but sadly, it's also somewhere they can hide their deeds." Reprise paused for effect, letting the words sink in. "I come from a place of love and warmth. Which has resulted in me seeing the world in a different way to everyone here. Of course, in a positive light." She glanced at the other she-cat, wondering what she would think.
Post by strawberrycupid on Oct 27, 2019 15:57:03 GMT -5
"That still doesn't answer my question." Was really all that Hayate-kun thought. Sure, she heard some things about Reprise from her father, but she came into this with a grain of hope that things wouldn't turn into a debate. Good, evil, justice, all that she didn't really care for. She was an optimist, wanted to find the best in others to, but there was no alternative world she was from. Hayate had grown up in the league, only accustomed to their ways and traditions that were so prominent here. She was sure Reprise would continue to wax philosophical with everyone around here. One could be right and one could be wrong, but this felt somewhat grey. And the truth was fairly muddied. Especially to the heart of one who shared it with a demon. "It's not like being in the League is a proud achievement, you know. Some are here cause there's no where else to go. Dad talks about the Survival Clans and how our numbers have grown since they were destroyed."

(thoughts on bringing my cat nibbles in as the new rogue they meet? and then he tries to kill em and they kinda have to run for their lives?)
Glancing at the small she-cat, Reprise nodded. She was true. Being here or anywhere in life for that matter, wasn't titled as an achievement unless somecat decided it was. It was really to personal taste. A purr rose in her throat, Hayate-kun had a very interesting view on the world. One that interested Reprise. Maybe with some convincing, she could show this certain she-cat her plans for the world they lived in. She couldn't go headfirst into it though. Oh no, she needed to be careful about it. Introduce it in little slices. Her first slice had been placed in the open, now it was time to change the subject, let her words sneak in.
"We're nearing Rogue territory." She meowed, motioning at the dark trees ahead of them. "Now, a few things before we proceed. What can you tell me about Rogues? Is there anything we need to watch for and how do we treat them?"
Post by strawberrycupid on Nov 3, 2019 17:52:22 GMT -5
(sounds good to me)
Finally, a break. It felt like the pair had been having this conversation forever. It let Hayate-kun look around, let her thoughts wander without having to worry about sounding smart or correct. The trees towered over the pair and the silver bengal walked in front of them, stretching up one. Her ears swiveled back as Reprise asked her the question. Though really, what was there to know about rogues? "They tend to cross into claimed territory often and are more violent than loners. Hmm, I guess the same thing we look for in promising Punishment district cats. If they got that glint in their eyes, they'll attack. We treat them the same as everyone else." She rattled off what she knew, a trait she picked up from her dad as she swept pine needles around with her paws.

"Very good." Reprise nodded. "What can you tell me-" She was cut off by a loud scream echoing all around them but seemingly coming from the Rogue territory just ahead of them. The scream sounded like a horse chasing a carrot in a field of thorns. It was a very unique scream. "Keep calm!" Reprise meowed, looking Hayate-kun straight in the eyes. "Don't panic, I'm sure-" She was cut off once again, as a strange-looking silver furred tom with a wild look in his eyes wandered into view.
Nibbles had been out chasing carrots near the League's border. Of course, there were no carrots, but he just liked to picture carrots dancing in front of him. He swiped at them with his claws, a look of kit-like delight plastered across his chubby face. "COME BACK HERE!" He yelped extremely loudly. Suddenly, the two carrots he had been focussing on turned into two cats, looking right at him with the look of surprise in their eyes. He stopped, licking his lips. Why did some annoying cats have to ruin his perfectly good carrot hunting experience? Anger flashed across his eyes, as he sauntered up to the two cats. "You stupid cats!" He wailed, "you made me loose my damn carrots!"
Post by strawberrycupid on Nov 5, 2019 21:42:32 GMT -5
Hayate-kun dodged the blind swipe, ducking and pulling back towards Reprise. Blue eyes seemed to stare through the grass, her mind shockingly empty as panic began to swell up. What? Where were they? They're supposed to help her in danger so why couldn't she feel them? Any questions were peeled away as a silver tom tumbled into view. Hayate watched him, own silver fur puffing up as he spoke. "This isn't a spot for carrots anyway. Try Dayclan next time." She suddenly declared, the oddity of the situation making her bold.

Fur standing on end, Reprise protectively stepped in front of Hayate-kun, her gaze firm yet a slight spark of concern crossed her eyes. She had to be confident though, it was how you got others to believe you were more powerful than them. Okay, so the cat in front of them was strange; probably insane considering there were no carrots. This probably meant he could be tricked easily. Adding on to what Hayate-kun had just said, she smiled confidently. "Ah, yes. It seems the carrots might have wandered their way over to DayClan. Why don't you go check there?" In the back of her mind, she knew this cat might have some helpful information but she had a young cat with her, it was important they were safe.
"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk..." Sighed Nibbles, as the carrots around him vanished. It made the tom even more upset. These two trouble makers had made his carrots vanish! How could they do such a thing? No. No, this would not do. "Geeeeeeeeez. Now I'm upset." He giggled, sauntering closer, eyes burning. "Now you've made my carrots go byes! byes! And Nibbles doesn't like that."
His lip curled, taking in the two she-cats. They were probs League cats by the smell of them. One seemed to be younger than the other and... that was about it. No one would notices if two League she-cats never came home. The two cats did puzzle him, however. Weren't League cats supposed to be... well, a little more like him? He cocked his head to one side, slight confusion lighting on his face.

"Gee, I chose the wrong field." Hayate-kun thought out loud to herself, a burning overtaking the bottom of her feet. It made her want to jump up and shut this rogue up. Just to let herself play the puppet to her dark meister. But he didn't move her that far, the dark thoughts only hazing over her mind. Unconsciously, she took a step back, wondering just what this guy would do.

Nibbles was bored. Killing was a cool hobby of his but he did have some rules regarding the killing of random cats. First off, they must have done something bad (getting rid of his carrots ticked this box) and also he must know their names before death because it was just, well, something he liked to know.
With the sweetest smile and a really loud giggle, he took another step forward, so that he was right in front of both cats. His gaze trailing down to the younger cat. "Oh, darling, you really should have stayed home." However, with a cheerful grin, he shrugged. "But I guess not. Anyways, call me Nibbles. I like to Nibble things you see!" He let out another wicked laugh. "What might I call you both?"
Post by strawberrycupid on Nov 28, 2019 1:04:46 GMT -5
Hayate-kun took a step back, blue eyes like stoked flames staring up at Nibbles. Not overly creative, but still dangerous. Her heart jumped to her throat, it's beats deafening enough to almost block out what Nibbles said. Flattery was a familiar friend to her, one that tended to crop up whenever someone wanted something from the Nemesis.
She tended to ignore it, but this time, she was intimidated enough to consider actually answer his question. Only when the rational part of her brain pulled her back that she considered otherwise. "N-Nothing. You really ought to leave."
