She wrapped a paw around him as she leaned against her, giving a reassuring squeeze. "It's alright," she murmured, sounding far from it. "Just a cough."
Hazlelstorm sighed. She wished she could make him more confident, but a part of her wondered if she should be lying with him to begin with. She was not fine and she hated to mislead. "Don't you look so worried, now," she rasped, "you're safe here. Nobody will hurt you ever again, okay? Don't be sad."
She cuffed him lightly over one ear with a paw. "Come on, let's find something to do," she suggested, hoping to distract him. "We can find a game to play, would you like that? I'll find someone else to stand guard."
