Sunnyblaze strolled through Speckled Fields looking for three things: herbs, prey, and reassurance. The sun shone warmly on his back as he carefully stepped through the field, as if at any chance he could crush a plant that could be crucial to the well being of his clan. He heard a small rustle nearby. Instinctively, he went into his hunter's crouch, slowly preparing for his catch. Fast as arabbit, he caught what he found out to be a nicely sized mouse. Pleased, he buried his prey. Of course, being so distracted by his prize, he didn't realize someone had been nearby this whole time.
"Good catch! I wish I was that fast," Brakepaw mewed admiringly as he padded close.
The ginger tomcat had come to hunt for herbs, thinking it might help out his sister Vixenpaw, but after arriving he realized he wasn't really sure what they all did. The different colored flowers all looked like they could be useful, but how was he supposed to know? He had been distracted by the sound of Sunnyblaze chasing the prey and went over to see the commotion.

"Thanks, but I'll be honest, it was a lucky catch." He flicked his tail and tilted his head in curiosity. Apprentices normally didn't come out over here without their mentor or at least another cat.
"Oh, I was just... well, I was looking for herbs," he admitting, glancing towards his paws and shuffling them. "I haven't talked to Vixenpaw in a while, I thought it would give me a reason to." She had become a medicine cat apprentice instead of a warrior, and while he was fiercely proud of her, he was disappointed to know they would never train side by side. Brakepaw didn't want her to know that, though, so he wanted to make it up to her and be extra nice.

Sunnyblaze looked at the apprentice with a thoughtful gaze. "That's very kind of you, but if you want to be helpful, maybe do watch where you're going. You trodding on a very nice looking sorrel plant." He purred and flicked his tail at the poor plant. "Besides, I thought you two were very close, no?"
He looked down at his paws in alarm. He raised one paw slowly and checked beneath it, then backpedaled a few steps. Oops. "Uh... yeah, we were," he agreed, looking back up at her guiltily, "but not really since she was promoted."
